- I suddenly and accidentally threw myself into an Invader Zim obsession so, here’s an animatic I did in 3 weeks.
STORY: It’s basically an animatic of Zim finally realizing the Tallest aren’t coming and having Dib and Gaz help him back on his feet until one day, the Tallest actually do come (bc they realize there is a surplus of snacks and processed sugary foods on Earth) they try to recruit Zim to help them invade since he’s already there, but Zim has other ideas.
ZADR/ZADF EXPLANATION: You do not have to watch this with a Zadr lens in mind! I originally wrote this animatic to be ENTIRELY Zadf, I just added that 1 scene of Zim blushing at Dib for fun. Zim and Dib are the same age in this animatic. If you want specifics of how that works, I posted a timeline for Zim on my Instagram account (Zxndia).

Seeing Dib basically deck Zim away from the edge made me laugh. It was supposed to be emotional but my dumbass laughed.

I really wish there was an accompanying fanfiction to go along the story I feel needs to be explored more, this is such an amazingly done story. The emotions just hit another level, really coem to a beautiful crescendo

I don't know why but this just hits differently than from the rest of the Invader ZIM animatics I have seen. This was so beautifully made! I simply don't have the words to describe how I feel. I am so overwhelmed with emotions! I wasn't expecting to see bits of animation in this animatic. It was so well put together!
We all know that Dib and Zim will never allow anything to happen to each other.
In the movie, Zim gave up almost everything when he found out that the Tallest weren't coming, to the point where he would have allowed Dib to expose him to the world. I can see Zim wanting to disconnect his Pak (or self-destruct, just like when he nearly did in the first episode when he thought he was going to get caught) after hearing the truth from the Tallest themselves. Irkens are born to serve their leaders. Without that, they no longer have a purpose. So, it would have left him feeling so deeply frustrated, depressed and hopeless knowing that he no longer has his leaders to follow.
I don't believe Dib would ever leave Zim to die, as in the canceled episode 'Mopiness of Doom', it shows that without each other, they don't have anyone else. They are so closely attached, that they started to care for one another, even if they won't ever admit it.
I love that you included Gaz in this. I can see Gaz and Zim getting along quite well.
I'm glad this showed up on my home page! Now I really want a fanfiction made of this! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us. This won't be the last time I'll be watching this.

Holy shit, this broke my heart into a million pieces and glued it back together again. Personally, I think Zim would easily be able to commit not-alive with his self-destruct button, but that would be pretty anticlimactic.

How did you make an entire cohesive story in 3 minutes?! Also new IZ content in 2022?! I bow down to you. I watched like 4 times already. All the transitions are amazing but for some reason I’m fixating on Zims antennas moving at 1:59 for some reason it looks so natural blowing in the wind from the ship. A++ work

This is absolutely stunning and beautiful!!! I'm at a loss for words! The movements, their expressions, the fact that Dib saved Zim from committing suicide! All of it hit so deep especially the ending and how Zim didn't care anymore about Irk-related stuff given the experiences he's had on Earth. Honestly, thank you for making this vid and sharing it! Zim really said “these bitches are empty…YEET YEET” and then the armada was like “Fuck, I guess we’ll go then…😳”
But seriously this was so good!!! I loved all the interspersed memories of Zim, Dib, and Gaz just hanging out and being friends (I can never get enough of that content and I found myself pausing on those stills just to take in the good fluff 🥰)
Also the more fully animated bits of this were so smooth and the boarding was so interesting and dynamic! My favorite sequences were when Zim stepped off the cliff (the breath he takes, the fist clench, his eyes rolling back and closing as he looks up is just…*chef’s kiss*) and of course the final confrontation with the tallest (the expression work, the pacing, the wind whipping Zim’s antennae, the awesome shot of him jumping from ship to ship with his pak legs 👀)
Ok I’ll stop gushing for now, but this is definitely an animatic I’ll be watching again and again!

gosh its literally so in character for the tallest to come to earth purely for the snacks XD
i also have a head cannon that irkens actually are creatures that feed primarily on sugar. they can still eat foods that arent entirely sugar but the non sugar parts just dont digest, and they dont like non sugary foods. if you see the tallest eating chips, those chips have sugar instead of salt on them lol.
Me too! I have a headcanon that irkens don’t just like sugar, it’s like, what they need to eat. Zim is like, lactose intolerant but to mean not dairy. Junk food to us is their healthiest source of food to them.
