Haven't heard Ken Climo commentate before. I thought he was excellent.
Finnjon This was actually the very first time Climo did play-by-play commentary! We were really impressed about the Champ, and we are sure he will het even better as the Championship week progresses.
@@TheSpinTVcom can't say more about his insights, instincts and timbre...sounds like a seasoned pro ball golf announcer had a love child with Bob Ross
@@TheSpinTVcom The only critique I would have is that he could learn the graphic ques... I noticed several times he missed the OB graphic signals and therefore didn't really understand what was happening, for example at the end on hole 18 when AJ missed his putt and it went OB and it clearly stated via graphics it was OB and he decided to re-putt from his lie. Otherwise it was amazing commentary. Stoked to have a new perspective.
@@vincechihak4062 This were my thoughts exactly. Very relaxing and an easy listen. I thought at first he might talk to much like new commentators tend to do but he settled in very quickly.
Have to appreciate Simon's honest opinion of the new holes and his explanation of why he doesn't like them.
Agreed. I hate that Paige's drive on 12 went "OB." That was a great shot that skipped to the center of the old fairway.
When a designer has nothing in the way of interesting terrain or enough trees and bushes then he has to resort to OB stakes and rope lines. Boring. The champ is correct. Natural OB is much more interesting and fair.
Agreed! This is by far the biggest event in US disc golf and the biggest chance for new people to see the sport. No one is going to take this sport serious as long as the marquis event looks like a temp mini golf course. USDGC needs to move to a real disc golf course
@@kirkwould This is a great example of where *"TRADITION"* is holding back progress and growth of the sport. I don't see it changing any time soon. It's more likely that another new championship series will make this venue seem silly. We can only hope.
Adding big posts around the basket to make it harder is completely lame and shows a lack of imagination. Go work on a putt putt golf course.

Climo's commentary was perfect. Like a pro golf commentator that knows disc golf like no other. I didnt know what to expect, but please keep him forever.

Totally agree with Simon, also props to him for the honesty. I loves the old Gold course, but I gotta be honest a lot of these holes are hard to understand on camera as far as OB’s go, and they are also just really gimmicky feeling and not visually pleasing. All things aside loved the Champ commentary🔥🔥
Even Nate and Jerm had some problems with hole 11 knowing if the disc was OB or not. Then you know it's bad.
I played the course today. It's hard to understand the ropes in person, especially hole 9.
I usually watch jomez but I gotta say, this first round coverage has been exceptional. Thank you spintv for your hard work here and I look forward to the content for the rest of this tournament and beyond!
I wouldn't mind hearing KC commentary again. Theres not much people, who know the game better. Great job.

AJ's jump putt on hole 14 got me hyped.
I agree with Simon the new holes are not good for video. I can't imagine any of the players liking them. Seems like the designers tried too hard.
Agreed new holes dont look good and dont seem very fun the og first hole was iconic sad to see it go

I forget how good Chris Dickerson is... Dude isn't flashy, but he's got game for sure.
What I love about the Champ is that he understands what these players are trying to do almost every time. For example, he fully appreciated the skill that went into Dickerson’s cut roller approach on 15, even though it didn’t work out.
I feel like KC is channeling his inner Bob Ross.
If he says there is a happy little tree, I'll lose it!
I thought we were going to hear about the happy trees on hole 14 when AJ kissed off of them into a great shot.

I’m a big fan of bigsexy commentary, always entertaining. But I have to say Jamie and Ken killed it. They both sounded like seasoned pro commentators and players. Very professional. No one hording the mic. No off track boring chit chat. Just solid stuff. Really a pleasure to listen to. Thanks so much for this top notch coverage.
KC is by far the best commentator I’ve heard in the disc golf so far. Really enjoyed listening to the commentary. First team to do better than big sexy in my opinion.
I'm so relieved that it wasn't just me being a sourpuss, taking one look at the vast majority of these 18 holes and being utterly disappointed. Manufacturing holes out of obsidian stakes, big sticks, and hay bales is exeptionally boring.

Yeah i have no idea what the hell they're throwing at on those open holes with the million stakes and the depth percecption is all frigged up! Everything else is great though
I wish they'd do something to make it easier for us and the announcers to tell which side of the stakes is in and which is out. Maybe some chalk dust arrows to the good side of each stake?
Yep, i was thinking that if they want to do this, they need to have banners between the stakes, one side green, the other red, then everyone knows which side is which

James Turner Plus, they give spoilers like the one before hole #17 and they didn't match the commentary like the one before hole #10.

I really hope Ken Climo will do more commentary in the future. He's really good. Wouldn't mind if he showed up on Jomez or ccdg as well. I wasn't sure about how the coverage was going to be for lead card when I heard Jomez got chase card, but spintv nailed it. Great footage and excellent commentary.

Wow excellent production yall. Jomez is great but the quick facts and the interviews, as well as the matching overall coverage quality make this just as enjoyable. Climo is a very relaxing commentator to listen to.

Think of all the prohibited words for weak man and realize that Simon doesn't want to upset the PC police. They will never forgive you and you will be labeled and shamed. Not worth it. He did the correct thing.

You are correct, sir. The anhyzer release angle hurt the most. Example - the 3rd shot on hole 5.

I love USGC and the coverage, but the whole course really is terrible for casual CZcams viewer. Impossible to know how the white OB stakes line up. It's like, on multiple holes you just watch the throw and then wait for the OB graphic cause you have no clue if the shot was good or not

Feels like USDGC's course is getting worse and worse by the year. The desperation is starting to show in the design and I see it as a simple acknowledgment of the fact that the sport has outgrown the course.
Let me rephrase that. The idea of USDGC being the most prestigious event in the sport has outgrown this course. As a course it's fine. Revert back to older more humane designs, make the holes less gimmicky and hold a popular A-tier event. No problems. Make the course an obnoxious OB hell and pretend that this is the best the sport has to offer? No way.
Would like to hear Climo saying "i will find you, and i will kill you". :D But seriously, great commentary!
Commentary literally put me to sleep. Don’t know why everyone liked it so much.

But they won't because they realize that's my moment that I earned by running and making that putt. I've missed more putts in my life than I've made, so I'm gonna stay true to myself and continue to get hyped and type run-on sentences. #sorrynotsorry
