No powdered laundry detergent! Take detergent sheets!!
I am actually SO glad you mentioned this! After making this video my sister started using Tru Earth Laundry Strips and loves them. I've been meaning to update the description and our blog post... your comment was a great reminder to do so (I actually just finished before responding). 🌺 Thank you so much for your tip! I hope you find yourself in Hawaii sometime soon! Any upcoming trips?! Aloha! 🤙
@@PerhapsThisIs was supposed to travel in August and just found out there was a miscommunication between our agent and our operator and our trip was canceled. Hoping to reschedule for January!
@@deborahnelson2851 I'm so sorry to hear that. I can imagine that is quite a disappointment. Hang in there. January is actually a great time to see Humpback Whales during migration season!
Yes, that’s what I use too! Much less messy and takes up less room!
I'm ready to go to Hawaii! This gets me excited about it :)
Hoping your travels bring you there soon!
Great tips! Thank you for compiling this list. We’ll be there in 2 week😊
Such a useful list! I hope to visit Hawaii once things are back to normal.
Mahalo! Waiting for travel to Hawaii to return to normal is definitely hard. I hope you get to visit sometime. :)
We are planning a trip to Hawaii for Summer 2021. This was very helpful! Thanks for the suggestions.
How exciting! Can't wait to see your Hawaiian adventures! So glad to hear our list was helpful, thank you!
Excellent list. It will come in handy for when we eventually get to Hawaii.
Thanks a million! I hope you are able to get there sometime soon. Can't wait to see what you discover! Aloha!
What great tips, thank you!!!
Thank you, glad to be of help! :)
Going to Hawaii in May so i am very happy to have seen this. Great tips..Thank you...
Thank you so much, very glad to be of help! How exciting for you!! Is this your first visit there? Which island(s) are you headed to?!
You ladies are definitely Hawaii experts!!
Aw, you're too kind. We certainly do love the Hawaiian Islands.
Hawaii is on my list of places to visit, this is a great list!
Thank you so much! I definitely hope you get to visit Hawaii someday!
One of the most useful packing videos I have seen. Going to Hawaii for 4 weeks from the UK carry-on only (with weight limit for the international portion of the journey), so need to pack "smartly"! I took laundry sheets with me to Yellowstone last year.. thought they wouldn't be up to much but actually they were great! Cheers for the tips!
Excited to be in hawaii in the future!thank you for your tips super helpful!
Aw, thank you Jeanette! We're so happy to be of help. :) Hope you are in Hawaii soon... any trips planned?!
Great tips! Love the water bottle colors!
Thanks! I loveeee the shimmering colors on the water bottle... makes me feel like I'm headed to the beach.
This is the most practical what to bring video.
AW... thank you so much! You've truly made my day! 🥰 Hope you are off on a Hawaiian getaway soon! 🌺🤙
Nice! Can’t wait to go back whenever that might be
Us too! Hope your week is full of Aloha!
So helpful!!
Glad it was helpful for you Abby! Thanks so much watching. Hope you are headed to Hawaii soon. ~ Aloha
Wonderful packing tips! Great video!
Many thanks! It was a lot of fun to put together!
Fantastic information!
Aw, thank you kindly Whitney! Hope you have a great weekend! :)
Thank you for sharing your video. I’ll be there in Hawaii in August.👍❤️✈️
That's wonderful! I hope you have the best time! We are hoping to get back soon. Enjoy the Hawaiian sunshine for us! Happy to help. Aloha!
Great tips.
Mahalo!
Can't wait til the day....
Hope you get to visit Hawaii soon! :)
This is such a great list! I’ve been to Hawaii a few times and plan to return. I like to bring my own shopping bag or purchase one. In fact, I use the last one I purchased there at home. And the reef-safe sunscreen is so important.
Thank you! Yessss on the shopping bags! I was unaware about reef safe sunscreen until our first visit, so glad the word is spreading.
Such great tips! I heard about the sunscreen. Glad they are making strides to protect the reefs.
We are too! The reefs are stunning and we're so glad so many people are taking steps to help protect them.
Being born/raised here, sometimes used to kukui nut oil as sunscreen/moisturizer. FFWD several decades, have found local company--Maui Brown-is using basically same sunscreen "formulaic recipe" currently available at local CVS/Longs, Target, Walmart & other stores...Works For Me!
Thank you!
You're welcome! Always happy to help! Which island(s) will you be heading to?!
We will be on Oahu at a nice resort/spa in Waikiki. I wanted to be somewhere we could walk around and have lots to do without being dependent on a car. We will rent a car one or two days to drive around the island and check out the smaller towns, but otherwise want to just walk everywhere or hop on a bus! 😃
Love this list! Great tips. Thank you for sharing. Planning a trip to Maui soon! 🌺
So exciting for you!!! We actually just go home from Maui a few days ago. Have you visited Maui before? What area are you staying at? We were in Kihei... our fave! Let me know if you have any questions about the island, always happy to help! Aloha!
@@PerhapsThisIs thank you! Yes, we’re excited, too. We’ve never been before. We’re planning on staying near the Ka’anapali Beach Walk, maybe the Whaler. But haven’t decided for sure yet.
I feel like water shoes is smart because a lot of the beach’s seem rocky in Hawaii, great video
Thanks! We found having water shoes was really helpful, especially for walking around town after the beach and hiking the muddy trails in the rainforests. :)
GREAT video! Thanks so much!!
Thank you Natalie... so happy to help. Hope you have a fantastic time in Hawaii! Which island(s) are you visiting?
@@PerhapsThisIs my family and I are first-time visitors to the Big Island. We have been so fortunate to have already visited Maui a couple years ago, but your video was such a great refresher and reminder of what to bring AND how to enjoy the natural beauty of the islands!
@@nataliegutierrez4636 thank you so much for your kind words, you've truly made my day! Maui is our family's favorite. We loved the Big Island too... so different than Maui, just so cool. We stayed on the Hilo side and really enjoyed Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Rainforest Zoo and Punalu'u Black Sand Beach (not really swimmable but the black sand and sea turtles basking were gorgeous). Hope your family has the best time! Super exciting to be heading to Hawaii! Aloha and safe travels!
Can’t wait for my next trip! I’ve only been to Maui so far.
I hope you find yourself in paradise again soon! Maui is our favorite!
This video makes us want to pack up and leave for Hawaii right now! Only ever been to Oahu but absolutely fell in love with the place and must get back to visit the other islands! Will be sure to use this great packing guide when we do! :)
Thank you! Oahu is certainly gorgeous, I can see why you fell in love! Hope you get back to visit again sometime.
If/when you decide to visit, recommend looking into booking NCL America 7-day interisland cruise.
Super excited!!! I’ll be there next week!!!!
Eeekkkk!!! I'm so excited for you! Ihope you have the best time!!! I wish I was headed there too! Which island(s) are you visiting?!
@@PerhapsThisIs Oahu
@@robinbrown892 we've only visited Pearl Harbor and really want to get back to explore more. I'd love to know what your favorite activities are there after your trip! Enjoy your Oahu getaway! Aloha!
New friend here :) We have never been to Hawaii but this is definitely on our bucket list! This sure get's me excited and would love to plan a trip one of these years! This is so helpful, thank you so much for sharing! :)
Aloha... so nice to meet you and thank you for joining us! :) Glad to be of help. I hope you get to visit Hawaii soon and check it off your bucket list! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I'd visit Hawaii. My husband actually won our first trip there and we were immediately hooked. So very thankful.
Reef Safe sunscreen is a must! :)
Absolutely! And so easy to do to help. :)
I want to to to Hawaii so badly! Thanks for sharing.
I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever visit Hawaii... then my husband won our first trip and it's been calling us ever since. Dreams do come true and I hope you get to visit someday too! Do you have a specific island in mind you'd like to see?
Any of them really!
@@alexisbober6243 I'll second that for sure!
going next month
SO exciting! I wish I was too. I hope you have the best time! Which island(s) are you visiting?!
I can't wait to go back to my childhood home after this pandemic is over! Great packing tips! Is Badger Balm a mineral sunscreen? ~Aloha
Aw, I sure hope you get to visit. How lovely to grow up there! Yes, Badger Balm is a mineral based sunscreen (active ingredient is zinc oxide). They are also non-nano, non-gmo and reef safe. We really love the smell of the tangerine/vanilla!
maui man here hope to see you
Going to Hawaii in a few days
I'm SO excited for you!!! Which island(s) are you visiting?! Is this your first time?! Oh how I wish I was headed there too! Hoping you have the best time!!! Aloha!
That’s good to know about the plastic bag ban. I’d of never of thought to bring a bag like that! I’ve also heard great things about the Badger Balm sunscreen. Do they sell it on Amazon?
The reusable bag is honestly so helpful to us. My kids miiiiight've had to use it as their second carry-on a couple of times coming home with pineapples! lol We love Badger Balm and yes, Amazon does carry it. They also have a website and can be found at Target too. :)
My husband and I leave for Hawaii in one week!!
SO exciting?! Which island? I wish I was headed there too! Is this your first visit?
Great tips!! I live in Hawaii and love it that we don’t really need much at all over there. Flip flops and bikini is pretty much all you’ll need. Haha
How exciting you live there... super jealous over here! So very true about the bikini and flip flops too. Enjoy the Hawaiian sunshine today! :)
I agree with all of these tips EXCEPT for the convertible pants. These SCREAM "tourist," kind of like fanny packs.
Depending on which style you opt for, I totally agree some of them (when worn as pants) can look "touristy/outdoorsy". We only use the pants portion while in Hawaii, for hiking at higher elevations on the volcanoes or watching the sunrise/sunset atop a summit as winter temps & high winds can be quite chilly when exploring those areas. The last time we watched sunset on Haleakala, the temp was in the mid 30s. Tourists usually stand out at the summit because they're wearing shorts/summer wear and shivering, while they wait an hour, or so, for the sun to actually set, lol. ❤️ I hope you don't have to wait too long for your trip... oh how I wish I was headed there soon! Which island(s) are you visiting? Also, thank you so much for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts. We really appreciate you joining the conversation. We love hearing (and learning from) what others are doing in their travels and tips they have to offer! ❤️
#10 bring turtles? Jk! Great videos keep it up!
Right?! Can never have too much sea turtle cuteness! Thanks so much for watching.
Can I take crocs inside of water shoes ???
I highly recommend a company called Ethique for their laundry bar. They also make shampoo, conditioner, face cleaner, and lotion bars - all cutting down on packaging and the liquids in your luggage.
Oooo I haven't heard of this company... will definitely be looking into this for sure! Thanks so much for recommending. :) I'm all about anything to cut down on luggage weight and product packaging!
@@PerhapsThisIs definitely check them out. They last a long time, so I actually cut them in half for traveling. And, I love the laundry one! Nothing to spill, no powder to clean up, and no measuring required!
@@PerhapsThisIs I forgot to say, I bought the app you recommended and the kindle version of the book. We’re heading to the big island in 9 days. We’ve been to Oahu twice, but this will be our first time on the Big Island. We’ll be posting video vlogs very soon!
@@TheWanderingWife Love it! Always looking for travel tips! I looked at Ethique's website and LOVE that they are 100% plastic free. And a pet line too?! I'm thinking I may have to give them a try. I've been using Dr. Bronner's bar soap that can also work as shampoo when travelling, but love trying new things! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
@@TheWanderingWife I wanna go!!! I hope you have the best time! We love that travel guide series. When on the Big Island, be sure to look for products by Upcycle Hawaii (out of HIlo) in gift shops and boutiques. It's an AMAZING, local small business that turns marine debris and post-consumer waste (plastic wrap/bags) into incredible handmade products. Mattie Mae, the owner, is such a hard worker... I met her when we visited last and love helping to spread her mission. (She's got a website www.upcyclehi.com ) Can't say enough good things about Upcycle Hawaii!
We are going June 3 aka today/tm it’s 12 am
YAY!!!!! I'm so excited for you! Which island(s)?! Oh how I wish I was headed there right now too!!! I hope you have the best time!
@@PerhapsThisIs I went to the island of hawaii we usually go to Maui, I recommend Kona if you want to go there, my family suggests Kona brewing co. And the dole whip place I frogot what it’s called sorry
But also, who wants to come home from vacation and do laundry 😂 we always do our laundry while on vacation, it's nothing to throw in the suitcase!
Yaaassss!! I'm totally right there with you on the laundry after vacation, lol.🤣 So glad to hear I'm not the only one that does laundry while traveling. Are you planning any trips soon?!
@@PerhapsThisIs Kona in April! Our first time in Hawaii to the big island. Can't wait, but so overwhelmed on what to do 😂
@@michaelafaith0 SOOO excited for you! You're gonna do great! Are you feeling overwhelmed with deciding on what activities to do once on the Big Island or the travelling there part? ❤️
Can I bring my own plastic bags to throw away trash in our hotel rooms? Also can store wet swimsuits in them on the way home.
The Islands have banned the distribution of single-use plastic bags by stores and businesses at check-out. You can certainly bring plastic bags with you from home to use for wet clothes, or consider purchasing a reusable wet/dry bag... I used one for cloth diapers when away from home and it was pretty swell. :) Your hotel should have everything covered as far as trash removal is concerned. Hope this helps! How many days until your Hawaiian getaway?!?!
I have 107 days left for my countdown!
YAY! How exciting!!!! Is this your first visit to Hawaii? Which Island(s)?! I wanna go! lol
@@PerhapsThisIs yes its my first visit! Ill be going to Oahu!
@@kimberlyvillatoro8863 How lucky! I've heard great things about Oahu. When we visited we were only there for the day to explore Pearl Harbor. I really want to get back! Best wishes for safe travels! Enjoy every moment of tropical paradise! So excited for you!
I didn’t see a link for the uv shirt?
Here is the link for the UV rash guard amzn.to/3myIS53 and shirt amzn.to/39jJKYq . Thanks for watching!
what company is your drawstring backpack? The one that is linked doesn't look the same. Thanks!
It's made by "Thirty One" bags and is actually several years old. I ordered it from a family member who was selling "Thirty One" bags at the time. It's seen many travels with me. I hope this helps. :)
@@PerhapsThisIs thanks! I found all your tips super helpful! Thanks for doing this!
@@nlraju oh my goodness, this means so much! You're so welcome... I'm happy to have helped. :) I hope your Hawaii vacation is amazing! I'd love to know which island you're headed to!
@@PerhapsThisIs Kauai - with my husband and two young children! These little tips make all the difference! Something as simple as a cinch sak can make your everyday trips (gym, groceries, etc) easier but sometimes you don't know what you are missing until someone mentions it!
@@nlraju Oh my goodness, Kauai sounds fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing! I haven't been there yet, but hope to visit one day! 🌺 I'm the same way... I love hearing ideas from other people to help me plan for my family's trips. I hope your family has a wonderful time in Kauai! Enjoy every moment! Aloha! 🤙
Granny’s
Why do you need eye drops?
Hi Erica! I wear contacts and the salty air makes my eyes feel dry, as I'm not used to living near the ocean. My eyes are pretty sensitive, so I always keep my eye drops on hand for comfort and to help prevent my eyes from getting dry and itchy. :) Thanks so much for asking! Are you planning a Hawaiian getaway?!?
Wont be hot in long sleeve uv shirt??
I actually thought the same thing. 🌺 If you are planning on doing a snorkel trip, for example to Molokini Crater or way off shore like that, the water can feel surprisingly chilly against the hot tropic sun and winds. A lot of the snorkel boats do provide wet suits for that reason. If you are sticking close to shore for snorkeling, you may prefer a short sleeve uv shirt. 🤿🐠
I'm always cold in the water, lol, so I always bring a long sleeve uv shirt. Hope this helps. ❤️
(also the waterfalls and pools for swimming under some of them are pretty chilly water if you're planning on doing any of that.) Aloha! 🤙🌈
Great thank you!! Ill get 1 of each lol
@@nathaliejewels8796 of course, happy to help. :) Hope you have the best time in Hawaii! Which island(s) are you visiting?
Who does loundry?
Definitely us, lol. Being a family of four, when we visit Hawaii we always pack minimally to cut down on luggage fees, especially when we're staying for more than a week... which is often the case. We always stay in condos that have laundry facilities, so our clothes wash while we get ready for the day. 🌺
I did. Lol
@@classicarah Aloha laundry friend! 1-2 loads of laundry halfway through our trip definitely happens on our family's Hawaiian getaways too. ❤️
Your volume is very lowwww!!!!
I'm sorry the sound is playing back low for you. We're hoping to get a new microphone soon for future videos. :) Thanks so much for your feedback.
You can’t bring fruits in your luggage! It’s illegal
Aloha! Yes, while travelers are not permitted to leave Hawaii with most fresh fruits and other foods, pineapples are allowed to travel back to the U.S. mainland as long as they are declared in your carry-on/luggage and pass mandatory USDA inspection that all luggage/carry-on luggage is required to go through when leaving Hawaii. Following regulations, we have brought pineapples back to the mainland a few times as a carry-on item. Pineapples are even sold in pre-packaged boxes at airport terminals throughout Hawaii for travelers wishing to bring one home. It’s very important to know current USDA and TSA regulations when travelling, and you should always check those sources for the most current information. Rules and regulations may be different for international travelers.
Your speaking in an ECHO CHAMBER
James, thank you so much for your feedback. Since recording this, we have gotten mics to use for future videos, to help with improving the quality of our sound. We appreciate your input!
