    This is incredible. The attention to detail is really really impressive.
    - Designed for serviceability
    - Locating pins on the dies
    - Steel threaded inserts
    - Machined recesses for elastic bands(!)
    - beautiful fit and finish
    At $1200 I'm blown away. What a value. While I build traditional geometry frames without bends, this would be the first one I would buy. Congratulations sir.

      The base price is actually $1500, but thanks so much for the kind words. It may have room for improvement yet, but I put as much thought into it as I could.

    Great product Joe. I’m only one frame in at the moment so can’t justify the spend yet but definitely on my want list. Good price point for the quality, design etc...
    Great channel too, I’ve learnt a lot from watching and will definitely use a lot of your advice on my next build.

    Great work man. For sure one of the best tools I’ve seen made on CZcams. Good to see someone take the time to make a quality tool instead of using Chinese junk benders that are too common in shops now a days… but the craftsmanship and thought you put into it is what sets it apart and I’m sure a few little tweaks and this could be put into production making you some good revolving income.. I would just suggest maybe using air tools cuz that is some serious load put on the screw gun. Or use a 1/2” impact . And maybe have some sort or post and pin mechanism instead of the Allen’s , unless the Allen’s won’t fall out. Just a thought !

    This is so sick. I'm definitely going to pick one up when I get back into building frames.

    Very nice bender Joe. FWIW, I think you could do fork blades with a simply V-Grove bending die. I don't think you would not need a follow-bar. My fork blade bender just has hard maple bending elements but it only bends one blade at a time.

    Hi... Anyone know a good source of 4130 chomoly tubing in Canada... I am getting very discouraged by the prices of the aircraft stuff....

    Is it possible to bend oval tube in a similar way?

    will it bend titanium tubing? I'm pretty new at this and not so knowledgeable about alloys, but I know titanium is the hardest.

    is the drive screw square THD?

    • @cobraframebuilding
      @cobraframebuilding  Před 5 lety +1

      No, it's 60º v thread. Acme threads are definitely better for this kind of thing when possible, but they don't come in fine thread and you need fine thread to get adequate leverage with the cordless driver drill. Should be plenty long-wearing, and I have reasonably priced replacement parts available. Since it's designed and marketed to the small scale custom builder it's not generally going to be an issue that the screw and nut will wear out. If you build in large production volumes you probably have the shop space and budget for more sophisticated industrial benders anyway.
