- Today I provide you a ‘mock’ presentation of how I literally sleep in my SUV full time as a nomad. I choose this way for my physical needs. I’m comfortable and wake up rested and ready to go. I have no aches or pains sleeping this way. I am blessed and thankful. I have a nook in the center of Happy Haven I have designed where I can hangout, cook and more. Sleeping in your front seat is a great space saver!

I am a full time ‘gypsy soul’ nomad living life large in a Toyota Highlander SUV I fondly call ‘Happy Haven’. I have been on the road full time for over 2 years.. traveling extensively throughout the USA.. thus far 40,000 miles, 22 National
Parks, countless monuments, capital buildings, libraries and small town USA. One of my favorite things to do in this nomad lifestyle is to drive long distances and explore scenic places as well as visit small towns.. I have worked in Washington, Utah and Montana. In addition I have an online business ‘Say It Display It®️.. links below to my Say It Display It ®️line of daily inspiration cards, my amazon store with 55+ products I own and use as a nomad, and Serene and Simple life merchandise .. mugs, totes, acrylic blocks with beautiful photos, t shirts and many more items!
#2 ‘Sit and Share Sunday’ chatting with you about my personality and how things I know about myself ties in with my journey to find land to own rather than lease. It all makes sense now but the journey was needed to get to this very happy place that I am in now. Personal things I share with you about myself are not new revelations to me. They have just been made clearer in this search for a plat of land to call my own.
Through the encouragement of a friend I became an affiliate of Amazon. They reward me with a small financial token for promoting some excellent products that I use in my nomad lifestyle. Thank you (in advance) if you’d like to support me on this journey. I appreciate you!

I love your "why Andy"! Besides " walking with me and talking with me", He never leaves us nor forsakes us! God is good!
I honestly don't know how you manage to sleep in the front seat but it's working for you because you always look fresh well rested and full of energy bless you
My only concern and maybe I missed it but your legs need some elevation while u sleep so the blood won’t pool in your lower extremities. But I would feel better in front seat too in case I had to drive off suddenly for safety. I do believe that some form of this nomadism is going to be part of the future. We may have to adapt to changes on so many levels as the world changes and climate change evolves. The storms and fires and so many other disasters make nomad living…home on wheels and or second small homes in other areas to retreat to
Many Seniors sleep in recliners, a front seat is no different.
I just watched the video and as I sit in my new to me RV, my fur baby and I are now full time nomads. I had named my RV Andy for the exact same reason you named your buddy Andy. That was my grandfather's favorite hymn. Thank you for sharing your life on the road with all of us. God bless you and keep you safe.
Ive been sleeping sitting up slightly reclined for years. I cant even sleep flat anymore. Wool long Johns, wool socks and blanket make all the difference for me in the winter! God bless!!!
Me too!
I haven't slept in a bed for 5 years. I love my reclining chair.😊
@@amyschaefer1140 yes I've lived that too. Then no need for a bed and recliner.
I have been sleeping in a recliner for years. I also cannot sleep flat. Do you understand why this has happened?
@@sj6728 I thought I was the only one 😁. Is it an age thing???
Maybe it is an age thing. Lol
Sleeping in a reclined position can really help to prevent nighttime acid reflux. I can see how you’ve made yourself very comfortable at night. So clever.
As long as you feel good is what's important. My husband (6'2") sleeps better in a recliner due to back issues, the support helps him. We're both former military so sleeping in all sorts of areas and positions is not hard for us, but I have to admit (at 4'11") I enjoy a flat surface. You look snug as a bug in a rug Linda, sweet dreams!
You've really encouraged me because anytime I've mentioned to my family & friends that I'll probably sleep in my car, they think I'm nuts. I've wanted to get an small RV, but until I do, I'd love to sleep in my car. Sleeping in a bed has caused me great pain with the arthritis. Also, sleeping in the reclining chair would help me & I'd probably not need my CPAP machine. I have a good SUV & it's got leather seats & besides that I'm only 4'11" so I'd fit in real well. I'd been thinking of sleeping on an inflatable mattress in the cargo area, but it's better to be behind the wheel of the car in case one has to take off quickly. In the Garden is one of my very favorite songs; sing it all the time!! I'll be moving to TX, so hope we'll run across each other, when I get there. I wish you many blessings & will keep you in prayer for your safe travels!!
We never get too tried of watching you live in you car, always enjoyed that part of your video
You look as snug and as happy as can be, kudos for making it work for you Linda, much respect to you.
Wow, I never realized you were in Texas, I am too, Fort Worth. All I can say is that if someone thinks you are faking and don’t really believe you sleep in your vehicle, it’s probably your fault because you always look so good, they probably imagine how disheveled they would be in the same arrangement! You really do always look well rested and very put together, proving that the nomadic life really is what you make it!
I’m in Ft. W too! Southside
I didn’t realize she was in Texas either!!
I slept in my passenger seat reclined to the back seat...VERY COMFY ❤
Thank you so much for your review on your tips and tricks and I think I need to get myself a good handful of pillows for my car in order to be able to rest in Comfort like you do. At the moment I'm still taking care of my mom but she is getting older and the day she passes on like I've said before I have 30 days to sell everything and move out of this house before the bank takes the house. It's going to be definitely a very short 30 days but God willing everything will turn out all right and that's why I buy little things here and there to make my living in the car in the future as comfortable as possible. Thank you again Linda for all your videos and your hard work truly appreciate you
It will take way more than 30 days
That looks cozy. I’ll be doing some “car camping” later this year in a 2010 Toyota Venza. I’ll use these ideas for sleeping! Who needs a camper? Less is more. Great video.
Laura... I agree so very much..
I agree also.
I'm starting to see that and agree with you.
I used to sleep exactly like that in my car and really I slept the best and I still have my travel pilliow . Your tips and advice are excellent
How are you doing 😊😊👋☺️
@@bryanjason1980 im back in a apartment now but sleeping like that is best for comfort and safety
When I lived alone in my last house I had reclining couch and loveseat. I was so comfortable and could sleep all night reclining.
I can't imagine living fulltime in a vehicle like this. Even with a nice campervan, the house is always more comfortable with out worrying about outside temperature, my location or getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Good luck
I understand, it’s not for everyone. For me the experiences far outweigh the little inconvenience’s.. not that you asked but since you commented.. I would not trade for anything.. seeing 22 National Parks, 45,000+ miles traveled to not only drive through but visit 46 states.. working in Montana, Utah, Washington, Florida.. making new friends for the remainder of my life at 63 from all over the country.. experience and growth you can’t put a price on.. as a matter of fact I did a video on this very subject over 2 years ago and the same stands true today.. Incase you want to broaden your mind here you go- czcams.com/video/LU242IeJWUw/video.html .. i have seen more and done mire in the last 2.5 years of my life than probably the last 10 years.. I am a blessed and grateful soul. No luck needed though thank you. 💛☀️😊
@@SereneandSimpleLife, glad your happy and serene, my wife and I did the minivan camping thing for a couple years but I knew we could do better so we got a Roadtrek to travel and see the country, still not as nice as our modest paid off house which we both love and close to family. We have tons of local trails to bike and hike with the grandkids and of course our daughter and her husband could always use help fixing their house up. I don't want to be Nomad because the grass is greener in my own backyard. Take care!
Wow! You make it look so easy and comfy! But I did it for 2 weeks and had all the pillows and props and I was very uncomfortable, so I got something tall and soft to lay in the floorboard under the steering wheel and I layed my seat all the way back so I could scoot myself back more and have more leg room, and then I was able to stretch my legs out in front of me under the steering wheel. I slept on my side like that too when I needed to. I was very comfy. My problem was that I had to pee a couple of times at night....😂 That was no fun! I love Andy's name and what it means to you! ❤
Well done. You look at peace. I am going to be living in my car from next week with my little Jack Russell. Can't wait. Peace and quiet from toxic family members and crappy relationship
God bless and keep you and your doggy safe. 🙏 So sorry about your family being the way they are and the other relationship too. 😥 Peace 🕊️.
Travelers were/still are a long time and permanent tradition in America.
I would idle, to keep both cool. and warm. .26 gallons per hour. Wonderfully comfortable, and cheap. I put my seat all the way down, and a camping pad, with a fitted sheet. My last two years doing shows across the country. Small camping stove for boiling water, and pour over coffee. Of what fun!
I never get tired of watching you, Andy and Happy Haven! I admire you and your free spirit! One day, I’m going to be brave and try just one night of car camping to see if I can do it! The simplicity and minimal lifestyle is very attractive to my soul!
How are you doing 😊👋☺️☺️🙈
I reported you
New subscriber here. I have never even considered living the nomad life. I will explore your playlist for more information. I had been considering tent camping but your method has me intrigued.
Love the screen idea thank you so much. Love your simple attitude. Keeping things simple is comforting in so many ways. Stay safe♡♡
Comfy and cozy and well-equipped to handle just about anything that comes up. Love how well-organized you are and how everything is within hand's reach. You always look so fresh and pretty. Thanks for sharing and be safe and sound. God bless. xo

I hope I get to meet you on the road. I am a granny of 6, just about finished my little bus conversion. loved your video
Hey Linda! Just bought the sun shade window covers from your store. I've had my eye on them for a while. This is the time of year for them! Also, I loved your demo about how the reflectix can fit right underneath them!
How are you doing 😊😊👋☺️☺️
People like her aren't your typical homeless. She's normal but just lives in her car. I would have no problem with her living in my neighborhood.
She does stand out as being classy, clean, and presenting herself well not just occasionally, but almost continuously. Certainly more consistently than 95% of people living in nice houses in nice neighborhoods in nice suburbs. Not that there's anything wrong with doing yard work in yoga pants, hahaha.
You living! Meaning many can't do what you're doing - free and do what you feel like. Love it! I hope I get to meet you one day somewhere...Keep on posting!
Very nice overview. Blessings to you too. Good thing you are comfy sleeping like that. Wish I could do that. Enjoy the summer
Hi Linda! Blessings in your day and joy in the journey 💗
I love sleeping masks. For me it isn't just about keeping out the light but if I happen to have a headache,...the warmth the mask provides, helps to soothe my headache.
I also buy masks that have an endent in them so I am able to open my eyes while wearing the mask.
Very clever! I really like that setup! Then you don’t have to go to the trouble of *sewing* black cloth to the reflectix! How cool! Kudos! 👏👏👏
Continued blessings!
Glad to see you're well and thriving! Hugs
oh Linda your set up is just so cool and comfy!!! Always have admired you!!!

I did took a nap in my Mercury Milan in the driveway of my parents house. I even did take a couple naps in my Ford Focus, too. So far not take many naps in the Escape.
Love your living style. Simple easy and saving lots of dough!!! ⚘❤💯
~ I have an F-150 truck & have been disappointed that the back seat from door to door is too short to sleep comfortably in the back seat if need be. You’ve inspired me to see if I can set up my front seat to sleep comfortably like you. 💺 💤
This turned out nicely. I'm glad your viewers have a good visual of your comfort in Happy Haven. See you down the road.
Yes; thanks for your camera assistance! Looking forward to it! By the creek!💛☀️😊
Ok I get it.. but wow it’s that you are so organized that super impressed me... love it

Just seen you on my tv watching utube. What a awesome lady. I have a 2007 pathfinder, turned it into a tiny home, I bought a 4x6 in closed utility tailor to keep all my camping goodies. Food stove, propain. I started traveling last November. Stuck in Wyoming helping my step father fore a few months. I'm working on my solar system. When it's finished I'll have plenty of power fore a A.C unit. I have a 3000 watt inverter with 175 watt solar panel. Ordering another battery and another 175 watt panal.. I'll be finished with this project in less than a month. I'm hoping to be back in the desert in the end of September. The last two weeks I was in quartsite AZ, I survived on less than $42..00. I'm st8ll learning . I've realized I need to get ride of more stuff (-: I get a thousand a month on SSI. So if I don't visit fast food places to often , I can actually survive on less than $500 A month if I need to. I cook 90% of my own meals. There's a church outfit where I was able to shower 5 days a week and they feed descent food 5 days a week fore free and there a food pantry that overloads you with food. I gave most of it away to other less fortunate people. I also have the 1000 watt quackery. My pathfinder I took out the back seats and have a bed in the bath thats got plenty of room to stretch out and the Coffey pot in next to my bed. I like how your surviving and being happy. I'm from Texas, but live in Wyoming.
What a 'Happy 😍 lovely lady...so 'Positive...Wish you the Best...You deserve it...

I know your not faking it Linda. That's ridiculous. Some people are just far more comfortable in a reclining position than they are laying down in a bed.

I spent six months living in a Pontiac Vibe with two cats. It worked fine for me. Then my circumstances changed and I ended up staying with my daughter. I’d give anything to be able to live in a car again but I now don’t have a car! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to buy another one. I love on social security and there’s not much left after I pay rent to my daughter and take care of my few necessities. I love the way you fix your bed up; I never thought of putting my feet up the way you do. And I love your window screens! Keep enjoying your life.
How did you live in a car with cats? I have one but she hates the outside. How would she be able to run n exercise like she does at home? 🤔
@@MJ-my9sg mine are older and not extremely active but we played with their toys. My girl would walk on a leash so she could get out. My boy doesn’t like the leash so he just watched. We’d park where there was ‘wildlife’ for them to watch; they loved the squirrels! I kept their litter box at the back of the car and they ate in the front. We had a water bowl pretty much all the time, with low levels of water so it rarely spilled. They would take turns in my lap as we drove around. I’m trying to save up money to buy another car so we can have a place of our own again. I miss that lifestyle. We would wake up in the morning and drive up into the mountains or out on the plains or just wherever the urge took us. I had never before experienced such freedom. Nor have I since.
If I had seen your videos before I sold my Highlander I would be parked beside you in Montana or somewhere seeing the country but I wasn’t ready yet.
Thanks Linda. 🙏✌️🌎💞
Bless you x
I slept in my Toyota Yaris and it was crazy comfortable
WOW YOU ARE SO COOL LOVE WHAT YOU DO.
You are fortunate to be able to recline n sleep! I lived that way for a couple of months, but then my body said no more, I'm only a part-time some of the time nomad now. Most of my life I've felt more comfortable n rested laying completely down and being able to toss n turn! So at least a twin size bed area. I have a 2012Jeep Patriot, a couple more feet in vehicle length I would Nomad more , but have to make do with my vehicle length. My Jeep is paid for n I don't want to go in debt for anything at 69yrs.
I love to travel n see places and I did that 22yrs ago but now I don't want to be far from Family now 2hrs away is too far🤷♀️👩🦳
First time watching your channel and it took reading the description to really understand about the channel.
I have to say that I admire your attitude during all this, but I know you’ll be more comfortable and possibly fulfilled in a tiny house of your own.
Happy to hear you educated yourself a bit. Thank you! Please check out the playlists of over 400 vlogs if you would like to see and understand the joy I have had and continue to have in this lifestyle.. Working in 4 different states, running a successful business out of my SUV home, traveling to 46 states, over 45,000 miles now.. I have done more and seen more in the last 2.5 years of my life than probably the last 20. I’m getting a landing zone though God willing I will always embrace and encourage my mantra ‘GO SEE DO’ life is short and we only get one opportunity to live life large.

A good refresher on your method. You're pretty fortunate to sleep well just reclined a bit, it frees up so much space for other uses. When I sleep in the driver's seat, I prefer lying the seat back flat, and getting my feet behind the pedals to be fairly level. With a little practice, I found a seat position where I don't move much and my knees are flexed slightly up, so there is no risk of the weight of my legs trying to bend a knee backwards. Prior to solving that, occasionally waking up with stiff knees was the only problem.
In general, in the car (I have a couple of versions of Prius) I prefer the usual rear passenger side bed setup, behind a curtain separating front and back. But knowing I can sleep well in the driver's seat anytime, adds a LOT of flexibility. Quicker getaway, can have someone else sleep in the bed, can carry much more stuff to a destination or for a special mission, easier access to climate control if needed, etc.
A key point is to try out different arrangements yourself, before locking yourself into one chosen just because it's what most other people do.
I drive a 2006 Escalade. It is awesome!
Do you sleep in the seat or in the back?
clever, efficient...
Well I’m new here as of a couple hours ago. BUT GOD..... HE put YOU in my path as HE knows my next chapter and even the one I’m in right now. HE KNOWS EVERYTHING HalleluYah !!! Time to binge watch your videos sweet sister in Jesus :). Shalom Shalom Shalom!!! Blessings, Deb

I'm 71 and can't sleep in a recliner. So I put the back seat down and sleep flat on my mattress in my Toyota Prius with AC!
This would work for me, especially since I need to sleep elevated right after eating. Can you say, R. O. L. A. I. D. S?!
if you are able to, maybe try not to lay down for a couple hours after you eat and go for a walk to aid digestion....(i have to do this myself or i get bad heartburn, too)
I wish I could sleep like that. My back problem would get worse 🙃 😕.
Just because it’s unconventional doesn’t mean it can’t work. I love how you’ve made it all work fir you. Happy travels!

Better solution for sleeping...get a "pouf" ottoman and place it on the floor in front of the front passenger seat; get a 2" slab of memory foam (or other) the width of the car seat and ottoman, and the length of the ottoman to the top of the car seat when fully reclined. Voila, you have a bed that you can shift in easily with no steering wheel in the way! And you can roll up the foam with a bungee to store, or leave it in place.
Very cool
Idea though I use my seat and the floor for necessary items.. please check out the playlists where I show a very organized and thought out system. Thanks!..
