Socketed Arrowhead

Ok, so in the past I made socketed arrowheads using oxyacetylene...but that's not quite the blacksmithing I want to stay with. Making the bickern levels me up in my tool set for making sockets the more traditional way. That's what this video is about. This opens up the door to making bigger socketed items down the road.

A little trial and error resulted in a nice looking arrow head. It was enjoyable to watch. 👍

I think you have pretty much talked me out of trying socketed arrowheads. I'm not much of a smith and that looks like an awful lot of work.

Try forming the socket around a mandrel - rather than trying to form it by driving it onto your pointed former. (hint - keep some lube handy, beeswax or etc, and keep the mandrel as cool as possible).

I'll have to make myself a mandrel and try that. Have not heard of doing it that way before. Thanks for the tip!
