      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +2

      Bahaha you like the crash? Yeah I thought it gave the video a little character, & its not like im an expert, I make plenty of mistakes. I actually ended up destroying this body by crashing it off the other side of the counter when it the hard wood from about 3 feet up...
      & thank you for the shout out! I saw that when the video first came out. I remember typing up a comment, did it not get posted? I may have gotten side tracked by the wife before hitting post
      Anyways, that was an awesome video! I really enjoyed the ghost car comparison, it was nuts to see how much just the controller can change the handling of a car. It was crazy how the solid car kept lapping the ghost car by consistently staying tighter in the corners, and it was all due to the controller...
      Looking forward to more of your video comparisons, you have a great set up for it. Stay safe out there brother!

      I highly recommend it! It’s a slippery slope but these little babies are a lot of fun 😸 from collecting shells, to meticulously build a car, or simply bashing & driving around the house, these cars are a lot of fun. The best part in my opinion is the scale, they literally fit in the palm of your hand so they are great for indoors

    Welcome.
    I wanted to draw attention to the quality of the plastics used in the latest version of the car with AWD drive based on the KT531 transmitter.
    When mounting on the front axle of the Front Oneway Unit, the flap securing this drive was broken. It's about the Front Upper Bulk Cover Set. Screws have fallen apart. It seemed to be too much a twist at the factory. I received the Front Upper Bulk Cover set as part of a noey complaint. Everything was fine until you unscrew this part again. Again, the screw socket was damaged. I glued it with plastic glue. I consider this a minus for this brand and the price of the car

  • @ringod123
    @ringod123 Před 4 lety +1

    Both the newer KT531 Mini-Z's and the Sports series can run the X Speed V motor without needing to replace or upgrade your board/fets. Also the KT531 based Mini-Z's have much stronger stock electronics than the sports series.

    Try using the ma020 with the gyro. It makes it so much more enjoyable to drift.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety +1

      Awesome profile pic! The 3 in BMR 3 is partially due to Dale Earnhardt
      But regarding gyros, I don’t like them for AWD since it’s not necessary & causes a slight delay in steering response. I can only moderately tolerate gyros in a RWD drift car since it’s 100% required.

Finding stock xmods stuff is kinda tough though, also finding bodies is impossible so for the second chassis i have coming im just going to make a mini z body fit. I ordered some stuff on ebay and join a facebook page and ran into the guy who is selling me all my GPM stuff, so hes been really helpful. That is the main reason i will be building a mini z next is because there is more support.

    Really great video! :D
    One mistake I noticed is that 98mm support is something you got to get separate parts for unless you buy the Honda Civic Type R version(which is 98mm).
    Also with the new FHSS boards, 50T should be relatively safe, haven't heard of anyone burning the fets yet, where it happened often with the older FHS models.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you! Yeah I realized the parts for the LL rear end were separate after I filmed the video, but that’s a minor point.
      I have heard the FHSS boards can handle the more powerful motors, but I have no direct experience so I aired on the side of caution. I would hate to recommend something that could ruin someone’s car.
      I tried to make this a quick video for people just causally looking into mini-z & micro RC, hopefully it will encourage them to do more research.

    I would like to ask you and maybe one of your subscribers what is my options of bodies that I have, since my wheelbase is 90mm and it’s very difficult to find.
    Thanks a lot and hope for better days stay safe.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      Hello, you have a lot of options & are not limited to 90mm only. You can very easily switch to a 94mm wheel base just be sliding your rear end back 1 screw hole length & changing to the longer spur gear. Its very simple, but i think I will try to make a video on this soon.
      As far as body 90mm choices, I know the RX7, S13, S15, AE86, 2002 Subaru WRC, & the Porsche 911 are all 90mm. I will link a guide/chart that Kyosho has made & it list most of the bodies & their wheel base length & chassis settings. You can sort the chart at the top to make it easier to find the right wheel base, let me knowif you have any questions. Here you go:kyosho.com/mini-z-info/support/body-specifications/

      The difference between the ma-020 & 020s is just the electronics. The 020s uses the FHS frequency & has slower servo response then the 020 using the FHSS frequency. The chassis & all the parts are the same, it’s just the receiver board that is different.

      If your able to find new MA-020VE PRO I would say JUMP on that! Those are great cars with solid electronics, but the 020VE PRO has been discontinued so they have become quite rare.
      Avoid the MA-020S at all costs lol. They have the worst electronics out of any of the ma-020 variants.
      If you can find a ma-020ve pro or ma-020(with the kt-531 controller) get those.
      As far as the gyro, it comes down to personal preference but I hate them. I say skip the gyro all together since they are expensive & all they do is limit your overall steering angle.
      Without a gyro you can drift tighter circles, but it takes more practice until you can master it.

Run time depends on how hard you are driving, but I generally get around 8-10 min, sometimes closer to 15 if I’m just messing around.

For the bodies marked “W” or wide, you just need to swap the front diff cover & swing arms, & swap the rear end to the corresponding rear parts.

    Okay following up from the previous video. I’m thinking of getting the RX-7 you’ve shown in this video. I found an AE86 body (MZQ101) by Kyosho. However, websites state that it fits a mr-03 body narrow. But on the Kyosho website, it says that campaitable recommended cars are the ma-020 rx-7 initial D. Now I’m definitely confused lol

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      Don’t worry if a body is labeled to fit mr-03, that just means it was sold as ready set with chassis & controller.
      The AE86 & RX-7 are both 90mm bodies so if you bought one as a ready set & the other as an Autoscale, you could use both bodies on the same chassis without adjusting the wheel base, you would just need to swap the front clip.
      One thing to note is some bodies are better then other for drifting. For example the AE86 is widely regarded as one of the best drift bodies due to weight distribution, where as the Rx-7 is regarded to be unbalanced. I used the RX-7 & I did not like it, it was just harder to drift then my other bodies.

    Hi, Thanks for your explanation about this new chassis. I just bought MA-010 AWD in occasion, less expensive! :) can you tell me what kind of parts I could buy to upgrade it? Thx. ;)

      @BMR3  Před 4 lety +1

      Ma-010 is still a very good car & I would recommend upgrading the same parts. Nice find, those are getting rare.
      The only difference between the 020 & 010 is the front suspension area. So suspension arms, camber knuckles, differential plates & front toe bars are not comparable. But everything else is compatible, check out this video for info on compatibility: czcams.com/video/upZwTRnW_ZU/video.html

      Actually I think the ma-010 can have an even better suspension if you used the PN Tacing front a arm style. It’s only compatible with the ma-010 so I haven’t had a chance to try it sadly. I want to buy a ma-010 but can’t afford it right.

    How do I go about buying me a kyosho mini-z and where?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      I got you man, right now Kyosho is running a crazy deal on the MA-030F for only $129.00. This is the ma-030 chassis configured for FWD, but you can easily convert this to an AWD buy installing a center drive shaft. I think you have to buy the drive shaft separate, but they are cheep.
      The best part is the price is so cheep you can pick up an Autoscale body for $50.00 & it’s still going to be cheeper then a AWD ma-020 rtr set. Just be careful picking a body since the ma-030 has a high motor mount & it can interfere with a lot of shells.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety

      It’s a tight fit, just make sure you have them aligned the proper way & just shove them in there. The battery bays are especially tight on a new chassis

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 3 lety

      @@JamesGeiger23 I get it man, no worries. The battery terminals can be very stiff but as long as your carful to properly align the battery’s then you will be just fine.
      Also, then removing the batteries be sure to use the flat plastic tool that came with the chassis. You can pry it in between the chassis & batteries (from the bottom side of the chassis) to pop them out. Without the tool it can be very frustrating.
      You can also put a thin ribbon behind the batteries when you install them, that way you can pull on the ribbon & it will put pressure on back of the batteries making it easy to pop them out.
      Just takes some getting used to & you will come up with your own best way to pop me out.

    I had two questions, is it possable to dift rwd? I enjoy the scale and also could you fit a AWD on a RWD chassis ?

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  Před 4 lety

      Unfortunately RWD Mini-z cannot drift since they lack sufficient steering angle to make drifting possible. That said, there are plenty of other 1:28th scale micro drift chassis out there & it seems that 2020 has become the year this niche hobbie has exploded. There are a bunch of new chassis hitting the market this summer & its becoming difficult to keep track of them all 😹
      I have already ordered the Atomic DRZ V2 RWD drift chassis, & I highly recommend it if your looking to get into RWD drifting.
      Regarding your second question, are you asking if you can fit AWD shells on RWD chassis? If so, the answer is yes.
