True story… Over 30 years ago, I was sleeping and heard a voice say “Burdock”. I didn’t know what it was and had to spell it from my knowledge of spelling. It is a bitter herb, and the Bible speaks of bitter herbs. I’m realizing now that God gave me the cure for ailments I now suffer from. THANK YOU for reminding me I already have the cure for my illnesses. 🤗
He’s so thoughtful of us 🥰 I’ve been researching bitter herbs to see what God could have been referring to in the Bible. Did you find burdock at a local grocery store or did you find seeds to grow your own?
I have to agree, I think God planted it in my garden. I have not seen this plant in my area before, found out it is burdock. It is a beautiful plant and very helpful. My daughter is fighting cancer. I want to try burdock to see if it will help her. I am so glad I found this video.
I found burdock roots sold in my local Asian grocery store. It's labeled as "Go Bo". Don't know how nutritionist it is vs wild but was excited to find it. Also, it's not expensive at all.
I am grateful, Caroline had you on her daily homesteading. I am learning so much. Though after hurricane we just had go through Galveston County and Houston, I thought it would be perfect to gather some pine needles that flew off the trees on the golf course, lol less pooopy on those branches. Then, as I continued to watch your videos, I was supposed to gather them in the spring. So I might chop some up and make a tea. Been coughing a lot.
My dogs nose accidently hit the down like button! He must not like burdock. I clicked the like button and sent him to a time out. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
I love growing burdock. It fixed my gut. It supports mast stem cells in the intestines. Vinegar pickled is nice, tinctured and dried- all good , easy to grow, and busts up minerals from below. The plants growing near burdock get nourished by the drawing effects the tap root performs . Garlic bulbs are monster next to the burdock root. Tennis ball bulbs! I do collect seeds and have made tincture. I 've read two cinder blocks to crush the pods (outside)to grind the majority of hairs away is a strategy -windy day project. Also, I have to plug the benefits of biochar in garden soil. Make woodwaste and brush turn into a garden amendment that holds onto minerals , micrcrobes, and moisture. Thank you Doc Jones great information. The Essiac formula's first ingredient is burdock.
I really started studying the Bible around 2016 and lo and behold, 2 years ago, this plant, which I had never seen before is now growing wild along the banks of my house. He must know that I will need it sometime in the future. Thank You Father, Abba!

I have bought burdock but never managed to grow it and haven't foraged it....or so I thought. My husband and I once took a woodsy drive and foraged some shagbark hickory. Went to my Amish herbalist in Indiana with a sprained/fractured foot…swelling, pain, couldn’t put any weight on my foot. They had me heat water up to 180 degrees and soak the leaves until they started to seep color, then wrap my foot. Damp to wet leaves, plastic wrap, and an ace bandage…3-4 times total for 4-5 hours each. Also, used arnica gel and lavender oil mixture. Foot completely healed within a few days. They mentioned “bone netting” and said the leave will pull out the pain. Burdock WORKS!! Been going to Amish herbalist for 7 years…burdock got me interested in more. Found your channel. Planning to take the course with my family. Thank you.
Thanks for everything you do and with humor also. I want to attend your school but need to wait until I am no longer the total caregiver or my 97 year old Mom. Right now I am pretty well snowed under. Until I have the time I will continue to watch your videos, enjoy your blog and buy your preparations.
No. Curly dock/yellow dock (Verbascum thapsus) is a different plant than Burdock (Arctium lappa). They do have some similar liver-blessing properties though. Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/
I am so glad to find this video and your channel! We have a ton of burdock and the burrs get stuck in my dogs coat. Our neighbor uses a torch to kill his but something told me I shouldn’t kill it! Now I’m going to go dig up some burdock roots!
Another great, informative video. Discovered you on The Grow Network. Finally getting a chance to binge watch all your You tube videos. Have some extra time right now due to an injury which has me off work for a month and a half so far. Cut through the tendon on my middle finger. Hoping to be able to buy both your books when I get back to work and eventually become a student of your school. Signed up for your newsletter and will be emailing for the PDF's of the slides from multiple videos. Glad you are feeling better, Love your sense of humor.
This is great information! Consider making some SHORT videos. Your teaching through humor is the best delivery for those who are searching for simple explanations. Thanks. 🌞🌱❤️
Loved this. Thank You..i have anxiety and did not know that I should take probiotics. Taking one now and will do so daily with my burdock tea. It really does help with constipation. Also drinking burdock to help build up my iron level
Probiotics (live bugs) are great but pre-biotics are a great addition too. Powdered burdock is a great source of prebiotics due to it's insoluble fiber content. Throw a little powder in your drinks or soups or smoothies. :0) Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/?s=prebiotic&post_type=product&title=1&excerpt=1&content=1&categories=1&attributes=1&tags=1&sku=1&orderby=date-DESC&ixwps=1
Does infusing sliced, dehydrated burdock in cold water, for tea, work just as well as the dehydrated powdered burdock? Or should it strictly be powdered? Thanks for your help! And for this fantastic video!! We love your humor!! 😄
Thanks for the burdock info. I'm dabbling with hugelkultur which is making ridges of logs and soil a metre or two (3-6 feet) high and planting both sides. One of several advantage is if you plant plants near the top of a well-composted ridge and they have long roots like burdock, you can harvest them by digging in sideways instead of downwards.
I"ve been putting a lot of Hugel beds on the new place. We'll be doing a video on it pretty soon. Great system. Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/
Doc Jones, would you do a video on anthelmintic pasture forages? My biggest concern is goats, but also for cows, rabbits, and sheep. Hard to find good info. Mostly have to weed thru drug stuff. And the drugs are not really reliable anymore. God bless you regardless. : ) PS I would buy a book on herbal livestock support. Especially regarding parasites and pregnancy support.
Funny you should ask Tirzah. My inner veterinarian has been very unsettled and fidgety of late and I've had the feeling that a really good veterinary herbal medicine book is about to explode out of my brain. I need to put some plastic up on the walls for the mess, but as soon as that's done, I'll be ready to let the thing out. It'll probably be written in the next couple of months. The school also covers veterinary topics and issues whenever they differ from human ones (which actually isn't very often). Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/
@@HomeGrownHerbalist excellent! Planning on taking your course in the future. Saving pennies and dealing with planting, kidding, "goslining", etc. Just astonished at the lack of... vetted veterinary info out there lay people can trust. Especially from someone of your practical experience level. In these here parts, non big pharma solutions are little to none, especially where goats are concerned. Even the university's small ruminant specialist told me she really had no experience with dairy goats.
@@HomeGrownHerbalist I have goat's, cow's, horse, chickens, turkeys, guinea hen, so if the new book could cover them, that'd be great. 😁 also a section in the new book about what you could plant in your pasture safe for the livestock to give them what to pick & choose from naturally. Would be awesome. 🤣
Delightful video, you make it very interesting. I'm one of your herbal school students, hadn't gotten to this one yett, althought I've been using burdock in some formulas. Makes me want to stand up, dance and cheer! Now to pass this viideo on to other people. Thank you!!
Wondering if Burdock would be helpful to someone going through chemotherapy and/or radiation? Would you drink some tea after a treatment kind of thing to help flush out your system to help with both long and short term side effects.
Doc Jones, I am so blessed by you, you are a wealth of knowledge. If I may ask, I think I am dealing with kidney and or liver issues. The puffiness and bags under my eyes are horrible, so embarrassing. I'm on the keto diet and do intermittent fasting and working to fix thyroid and adrenal fatigue issues and nothing is helping. Would you suggest daily burdock for me in this case? I feel so desperate to heal. Thank you for your time, God bless you
This is exactly what I was looking for, Thank you so much. Could you expand anymore on the precauctions with burdock and diabetes? Have found mixed information, thanks again 😊

Thank you so much! I am eventually join your On-line School!! Our 5 acre farm is loaded with Burdock. I am learning about what is on our land first and processing those herbs. I went out today to get Burdock root and WOW the root is deep. I will go out again today and take a shovel to dig around it. I washed and cut the root with a few baby leaves and I am cold water infusing it. HOW LONG SHOULD I LET IT SOAK IN THE PURIFIED WATER BEFORE I START DRINKING IT? Thank you!
Just an additional hypothesis to your kiddies and antibiotic/anxiety hypothesis. Glyphosate (roundup) is an antibiotic... most staple crops these days are roundup ready(GMO) and are sprayed around 5x before it's harvested... and most crops are grown in the scorched earth method, (roundup) bare dirt.🤔
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve been to one of your classes too. I absolutely love what you do!! ❤ Can I ask you if you can drink burdock root tea while you’re fasting?
It would grow in a large pot. The medicinal properties would likely be the same but, nutritionally, it may lack some of the micro minerals that it picks up by going deep into real dirt. Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/

Thanks for everything you do and with humor also. I want to attend your school but need to wait until I am no longer the total caregiver or my 97 year old Mom. Right now I am pretty well snowed under. Until I have the time I will continue to watch your videos, enjoy your blog and buy your preparations.
Holler when you're ready Mary. And give my best to your mom. She's lucky to have you. :0)

Thank you. You were amazing and I love your sense of humor and the way you deliver the informations.❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
I have curly dock Doc.' is this one the same in all. Love your videos🤗🤗🤗
No. Curly dock/yellow dock (Verbascum thapsus) is a different plant than Burdock (Arctium lappa). They do have some similar liver-blessing properties though.

I am so glad to find this video and your channel! We have a ton of burdock and the burrs get stuck in my dogs coat. Our neighbor uses a torch to kill his but something told me I shouldn’t kill it! Now I’m going to go dig up some burdock roots!
Phenomenal good information and fun to listen to. Thank you so much for this ❤ from Holland.
Thanks. 🌞🌱❤️
Do you know if Burdock or any other herb helps with ridding the body of Oxalates?
Thanks doc

What a great webinar! Thank you so much! Very clear and easy to understand all the information you gave and even humor to keep it fun!!!😀
I just joined the school and have watched so many videos. I love watching you. You make it interesting and make me laugh.

@@HomeGrownHerbalist PS think you would be proud. The row of calendula planted at your recommendation has its 1st two flowers today!
Try having folks put the questions in all caps. Thank you for all
Hi Valerie. Does the "all caps" make the questions easier to see?
@@HomeGrownHerbalist oh yes. A lot of other channels ask for that so they can see it eaiser. I love y'all thank you for being there
Delightful video, you make it very interesting. I'm one of your herbal school students, hadn't gotten to this one yett, althought I've been using burdock in some formulas. Makes me want to stand up, dance and cheer! Now to pass this viideo on to other people. Thank you!!
THANK, DR. LOVE IT.
Good way to start the year: Opportunity. Prepared.
I watch your videos while driving. Teally good info. Thank you so much.
Maybe I better make some audio versions...might be safer. :0)

Thank you for your time, God bless you
Thank you!
You bet! Thanks for watching.

This is exactly what I was looking for, Thank you so much. Could you expand anymore on the precauctions with burdock and diabetes? Have found mixed information, thanks again 😊
I love watching your videos, I am learning more from your videos than the others I watch on herbal medicines because you explain everything so well. I plan on taking your online classes very soon and can not wait!
Love your podcasts, I love natural medicine, I’m 76 and very healthy but just had a bad flu mainly cough from production of Philegmn feel like I need a good tonic to get back to my normal state? Any ideas?
Thank you so much! I am eventually join your On-line School!! Our 5 acre farm is loaded with Burdock. I am learning about what is on our land first and processing those herbs. I went out today to get Burdock root and WOW the root is deep. I will go out again today and take a shovel to dig around it. I washed and cut the root with a few baby leaves and I am cold water infusing it. HOW LONG SHOULD I LET IT SOAK IN THE PURIFIED WATER BEFORE I START DRINKING IT? Thank you!
Thank you Dr Pat for doing this video !! I have bad kidneys and so does my dog !! Lots of bacteria and uti’s!!
Thank you thank you thank you! For your wonderful contributions !!
Thank you for your work! I love your attitude. Very refreshing!
Excellent! Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge. I appreciate all the years of learning and studying you’ve done.
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve been to one of your classes too. I absolutely love what you do!! ❤
Can I ask you if you can drink burdock root tea while you’re fasting?
My grandmother called all her grandchildren "pet"!!
I love these informative webinars...so goood. Question: is it ok to grow burdock in a large pot if you dont have space?
It would grow in a large pot. The medicinal properties would likely be the same but, nutritionally, it may lack some of the micro minerals that it picks up by going deep into real dirt.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH🫶🏾🫶🏾 I'll be enrolling immediately 😊🏃🏾♀️➡️
Listening again to a most informative lecture. Such a shame youtube allows only a once off thumbs up!
I hope one day I can afford the homegrown herbalist course, where i live a substantial amount despite it being so reasonably priced, but so long I gleam as much as I can from all your CZcams videos. Thank you so much!
I am learning so much and cracking up at all your jokes I love it! 😂❤😊
I listened three times now and it is time to go dig up some burdock root - though after a rain might be a tad easier??...
Yeah. Wet dirt is usually easier than dry stuff. :0)

@@HomeGrownHerbalist surprisingly easy - well the fat ones broke of course, but the new young ones were easy to dig up and they taste pretty good, dirt rubbed off . I had always dried some and cooked the rest, but I must say the young ones taste darn good as they are. My new snack! Thanks doc!
I'm thinking that too 😂🙏

Lappa means "Paw" from Russian. Arctium Lappa - Bear's paw.
Doc you just crack me up 😂 I truly appreciate you. Thank you for absolutely everything you do.
Omygosh…I’m laughing so hard at the burdock on the head thing for prolapsed uterus! 😂😂😂
LOVED every minute ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you Doc Jones👐💃🏻
Wish I caught the livestream... Our wonderful dog has lymphoma. It sounds like burdock might be beneficial. He's currently taking turkey tail mushroom among a few other things. Any thoughts on using burdock or other herbals? Thanks Doc Jones for helping improve our health 👍👍

I like to lactoferment a lot of vegetables and root vegetables for health benefits. I’m wondering if you’ve tried fermenting it and if you’d still get all the benefits from it that way. I suffer from back and neck issues and inflammation/arthritis and my son has really bad allergies. I’m wondering if we’d benefit from eating it that way with some dill and garlic for flavor.
Why do most herbalists recommend four to six week infusions? Please explain your view that and form of an herb is effective, as opposed to the common belief that many need to be extracted to obtain the medicinal benefits? 🌿🍄
L e earned so much. Thank you
Which tincture would you use first, support or builder?
I want to join your school, just waiting on the money owed to me, lol. In the meantime, I have told others who also may join with me.
I have a 16 mm stone in my right kidney. Will Burdick encourage that stone to move (not something I want right now)? If not, I would like to try Burdick as a cleanse as I lose some weight as I have poisons from allergies my fat. Also, can you recommend an herbalist in my area of the Ohio valley?
Try what you can for relief; that is very painful, they also say apple juice and pure cold pressed olive oil toflush?; keep researching and trying everything, avoiding an emergency surgery as muchas possible, I guess nothing is guaranteed 🤷 prune juice seems to get anything flowing, prunes in any forms, is terrific and pure apple cider vinegar is terrific?; learn as much as you can that would help and hopefully, literally the agonising stones will pass and you will be releived 🙏🙌🫶 and live ongoing, happy ever after, take care and keep maintained 😀🥰🙏🙌🫶
What a fantastic class! Thank you so much for the info.
You've mentioned smoothies several times in your videos. What is your idea of a good morning smoothie? Burdock is one ingredient I would think. Thanks
Just found you ( friend told me), love you, thank you!
Thanks for the informative video. I purchased burdock root today and made hot tea. How would I make a cold infusion for mucelige?
Just throw it in some water for several hours. Simple. :0)

I have heard mixed reviews on making tincture out of fresh plant or root; most say to dry it first. What is your opinion? Thanks in advance.
I always dry it. It contains enough water that it may dilute the booze and make it not preservative enough.
