ABOUT ALIEN ISOLATION:
Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.
As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. - Hry

Fun fact, the alien does in fact always know where you are. its programed with 2 AI brains, the main one doesnt know where you are but searches. the second one always knows where you are and throws the first brain hints.
😮
The alien knows where you are at all times. It knows this because it knows where you aren't. By subtracting where you are from where you aren't , or where you aren't from where you are (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation.
@@thefoosterchannelSomeone has created a Mod that disables this, which also makes the Alien unpredictable in when it might turn up.
@@perry4589 Replace the word "alien" with "government". lol
And technically that's how I ended up paying 18 years of child support.
In the 1986 film Aliens, Ellen Ripley learns from Burke that her daughter died in a deleted scene released after the home video release. Ripley's daughter is also featured in the 2014 game Alien: Isolation, which takes place 15 years after Alien and 42 years before Aliens. In the game, Ripley learns that Amanda grew up, married, and died during her 57-year stasis.

i really appreciate Fooster taking time to look at stuff and getting immersed into horror games rather than just talking over everything and rushing through the game. We all get to be scared together and enjoy well made games and ambiance. Really ups the games atmosphere and experience.
This actually seems like the one time he's way too scared to explore everything, and I don't blame him. He blew by so many access vents and other rooms and items especially when dealing with the Androids.
Yesss. I love this too
Its a balance. I don't really enjoy no commentary play throughs of a game as it feels a bit flat to me, but you don't want someone nattering on about stuff during cutscenes and missing important information. Fooster is one of those who does it well talking and making you feel like your there with him when he's playing but able to shut his mouth and listen when the game is telling him things. I saw another youtuber recently who took ages on a puzzle because they'd talked over the vital bit of information they needed to solve it. Gone off, found the pieces but then couldn't solve the puzzle because they'd missed how to put it together as they were talking about a trip to Austria during the cutscene.
FINALLY. For years I have thought that Fooster and Alien Isolation were a match made in heaven. Gonna watch the hell outta this over dinner tonight 😂👽😱
Same!!!
SAME X3
In Fooster's case. Hell.

Fooster: Surely you would hear the screams
Ridley Scott: IN SPACE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU....
😂
Clever - that's the new ALIEN: Romulus tagline
Perhaps he was referring to hear the screams through the comms? I love this game has full silence for space scenes like you can tell there is no sound in space
@@Seb-Storm I think they are short range coms, cause for about a half second at ~18:36 you can hear Taylor screaming as she flies across the screen.
@@jazzx251 It's originally from 1979, the first Alien movie.
The sounds are spot on. The set design and sounds in Alien are what made it. They nailed the little things in Isolation. The little beeps, random rattles, ambients everywhere
Fooster: Has gun.
Also Fooster: Holds comfort flare instead.
You gotta make this into a series. Easily one of the best horror games ever made.
Seems like you guys are enjoying it so we will see!
@@thefoosterchannel Please make this into a series. I dont have the balls to play it. Installed it 6 months ago and still havent fired it up. Easier to watch you play haha

Just look at your view counts on your latest video's, I think the people have spoken, AI is clearly the winner here. I'm so hyped for alien Isolation wooooo!
Honestly one of the best space horror games to date and its 10 years old.
Correction one of the best survival horror games ever made.
It has the best monster AI ever which is an incredible feat
Could have been scarier, imagine Puff daddy chasing you down those halls
@@franklydum5056 thats less scary. i can punch the pdiddler, i cannot punch a xenomorph.
C'mon it has to be the best space horror game, whats the alternative dead space?
I noticed you turned off the music, you should turn it back on if and or when you play again. it really, really helps with the immersion. It enhances the experience dramatically.
I'm sure he did it for us
Wrong; it warns you when things are close. That reduces immersion/tension.
You should turn the music on for this game. Not hearing Alien style music is absolutely criminal. It is also a little anticlimactic without it.
Can't wait for a series of this!!
I realised some sound was missing when I didn’t hear what I call as the ‘heart beater’ sound when he calls for the first tram hoping the alien doesn’t appear, and the sudden sound effects of when the alien starts killing people in the main lobby of systech spire
Probably wants to avoid potential copywrite strikes.
@@VaciliNikoMavich thousands of people have played this game on CZcams none of them have been copyright struck. The music was all created specifically for the game and there’s no like licensed music by pop stars or anything
@@Gideon_the_Seraph Oh. Maybe to just be able to hear the game better?
@@VaciliNikoMavich nah i mean he does this for every game he plays so i guess its because of copyright, but what i mean is theres no reason to worry for this game.
Calling the vents a *_Xenomorph_* highway is so spot-on lol
I always used to think that watching the movies 😂
@@thefoosterchannel
I never thought of it until you said it, perfect description lol.
PLEASE make this a series and long-play videos! This game is amazing!
You guys seemed to really enjoy it so we will see 👀
@@thefoosterchannel It's a bit frightening, but I forced myself to play it because its Alien! I never regretted it and its such a good story/game.
This game is 10 years old now and it was a breath of fresh air from nowhere, it's still unique and special till this day.
So glad to see isolation still getting the love it deserves- if any game is timeless, it’s this one. They really perfected the ai and aesthetic in it in a way that really makes it feel like you’re in danger, even when you rarely arent
FOOSTER! Don't forget to update your map at the glowing wall terminals! They look like angled white glowing panels waist high. This game took me 4 years to complete with multiple restarts. The anxiety was too much at times I thought I was gonna have a panic attack. 😂
I I find myself shouting at the TV to Update Map and pick up all the items😂
Yup, over 2 years and still not finished it. When I started I was all gung-ho and played with headphones, at night, in the dark. That was all kinds of nope.
A few people let me know about them thank you 👍
@@dunny666watch your blood pressure that’s not good for you
What difficulty were you on?
I tip my hat to you Fooster, in the 10 years I've enjoyed this game you have shown me something I never knew.
I never realised that you could get the Alien to show up before the Tech Support vent cut scene, when I saw you get got by the Alien in the flight terminal transit area my jaw dropped I always thought it was scripted to just scare with the sound, so thank you for showing me something new with the game.
I like to mess with it for all the terror it's caused me, so whenever I get into a transit shuttle or elevator, I always bang around the inside to call the Xeno, and laugh as it drops and the door's already closing. A lot of "safe" areas are only safe if you don't bang around too much lol
(Also, if you want to troll the Xeno as well, I recommend NOT banging around near the Comms elevator where you pick up the hacker. That vent is WAY closer than it seems...)
Right!? I thought it was all smooth sailing up until the cutscene 😅
Lmao so it wasn’t even supposed to be there but with my luck it was 😂
@@thefoosterchannel think it just wanted to say hello and welcome, but from what I saw you were doing well, its a game that crests and drops in places but well worth a full play through that adds if only a little something to the Alien universe.
I believe its a mechanic to push players who like to turtle up and move slowly. It waits for a while and then in the word of the Xeno 'fk it I want human'
Kinda sucks if u spend time looking around for all items and lore as a new player
Its already adapting to your playstyle you know how you hid for so long thats why it immediately went to attack you after you threw the flare.
Ah it's actually because it could easily see him under the gurney! It's got a line of sight after all. By this point it hasn't had time to learn much of anything yet.
I’m pretty sure it just attacked him because it obviously saw him lol
I do not blame you at all for "nerding out". I'm the same way: My earliest science fiction horror films were Alien, Predator and Event Horizon, and my reactions to Alien: Isolation were very similar to yours. Nostalgia, followed by a sense of dread, knowing what's to come.
Your passion for this game is infectious, and I'd love to see more of it.
Alien is one of those games that's timeless, in both horror and graphics. You can get someone who has watched the movies to still jump while playing the game. Glad to see you play it!
Why would watching the movies make someone less susceptible to jump scares in a game that isn't based on any movie, it's not like we can see it coming lol tht doesn't make sense
@@thedevilsrockstxr2309 watching or having knowledge of the movie before, you know what the alien looks like. Even when you are expecting the alien’s appearance, it can still get people to jump. What I’m saying is, the game can scare still, even if you are expecting the horror
I rank this game as the best game in 15 years at least. Everything else is a copy of something else or just not as good.
At least you're playing on normal mode. We pressured a friend into playing it on hard mode. She was so terrified that we were in discord with her, guiding her, and encouraging her to get out of the lockers. In her WHOLE game play she hid a total of 300-400 times in the lockers freaking.
I was in them for 20 minutes each time I played
Props to your friend for going through with it. Hard difficulty is the proper way to experience this game. On normal difficulty the Alien will not search for you in vents unless you attract it.
@@jessemaskell157 alien does search in vents but it’s very rare
@@jessemaskell157 Are you sure? I played on normal difficulty, and it did search vents, got eaten a few times.
and they hear you when you got you mic on xD
You have the energy and charm of old gaming youtube. I can tell you grew up watching those things. Please make this a series, I'd love to see more! ^^
THISSSSS SO TRUE
It's probably the voice
One thing I always forget…Ripply records the message after the Nostromo explodes aboard the shuttle. If they “found the black box” it’s the shuttle one meaning the company found her first, pulled the info about the xeno and set her back to drift ofcourse.
Huh…
Great theory.
THERE IS NO WAY, Just few days ago I went looking through the channel for this game, because for some reason I always thought you played it. Let's go!
It's the 1 am time.. and we here with another horror video. 😨 Would love a full series on this! I've liked the video to do my part!
3 pm here.
1am here for me now just started watching lol
I was here at the same time, but I went to put on a video to fall asleep to, and then clicked on one of his videos then realising it was 4am now and I accidently watched the whole video (I normally just click a random video to play to fall asleep to)
Dude. I super hope you finish this. I know it's intense for you and if it's too much, that's totally understandable. Take care of yourself.
But my wife and I would love to see you finish this if it isn't too much! A-ok if it is though!
love this comment lol marriage goals
I love that we share this love for this film franchise. I remember watching Aliens with my dad when I was a kid, and I was FASCINATED. Alien is genuinely one of my favorite movies. I was SWEATING the first time I played this, and I just could not get myself through it it scared me so much! 😂
This is one of the best games ever made in my opinion. Please make this a series.
This is the only game I've ever played that literally had me too scared to keep playing it. With headphones on this game is insanely creepy.
Same i just closed the game at one point and played something else
My 2nd, Silent Hill 2 was my first.
Completely understand what you mean 😂 you know that moment where I popped a squat in the elevator? Yea that was me tapping out!
Yes, but it's actually so helpful to hear the sounds of the alien. I trust the sounds more than the motion tracker.
@@gymnodinium9 ye it Is good to hear if it is in the vents or outside
remember kids, its all up to rng if the alien always following you ontop of the map decides to phase into existence through any given vent in a room when you enter it
You keep walking past map updates and passing up opportunities to save the game. Always save when you can! Was fun watching you panic. You had about as many panic attacks playing this as I did. Loved this game. Just don’t recommend playing before bed. Really messes up your ability to sleep. Also programs your brain to scan every room you enter for hiding spots and places a xenomorph could jump out of.
That's what Dead Space did to me. The most abnormal nightmares I've ever experienced.
And the books...the books where SO MUCH WORSE.
😂
I remember playing an early version in VR. I remember getting pierced by the alien, and I actually felt a tingle in my chest as I looked down and saw I was toast. 😂
OMG I can't even imagine the anxiety of playing this game in VR!
I can’t imagine what this is like in VR
It was terrifying. Every time I got killed, there was a split second my brain forgot that I was perfectly safe at home and that nothing bad could happen.
One of my biggest fears is being followed/chased so this game took me FOREVER to finish 😂 it’s definitely become one of my favorites and I’m so happy you’re finally playing it!
I hate that feeling and when it’s combined with losing ground on the thing that is chasing you if you turn around it makes it so much worse for me 😂
@@thefoosterchannel omg especially if the next task makes you backtrack to a previous area. There were times where I had to step away from the game for like 10 minutes because I just couldn’t take it anymore 😂

Thank you Fooster! Been watching you close to two years now and been wanting you to do an Alien game. Please continue? This is gold!
You need the music on, they actually got the original orchestra from alien to remake parts from the film, plus there's dynamic tension music that give you audible clues to the aliens presence.
Running makes enough noise to bring the alien out, that’s why you only run when it’s absolutely necessary…make sure to search all the bodies you see, and also red cooler looking boxes have stuff too even though they look small
I was actually really hoping you'd play this game mate but with it being out so long I wasn't sure if you would delighted 😊❤
Pro tip: always build stuff until maxed out and keep your loot reserve full with another item ready to build
12:00 when Samuel does this, you know he is a robot, Ash in Alien 1979 does exactly the same warmup.
"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.

FOOSTER You are not going to believe this BUT, i searched on youtube today, in the afternoon, for Fooster, Alien isolation, and i saw that you didn't play or made any videos for this game, and what happened some minutes ago......, YOU post this!!!! Come ON! This is awesome mate
Incredible synchronicty I would say! You should use this consciousness on other matters ;)
Sure
Fooster, I have played the hell out of this game. My favorite game of all time. NEVER RUN UNLESS YOU WANT THE ALIEN TO HEAR YOU.
Good luck
You can run if on your tracker the alien is further than .96 removed. The tracker will give you a warning bleep when the alien is entering into your orbit again.
I loved playing this game as well. It was so scary, and the design of the game psychologically impacts you to slow down.
There was one point in the game where I dropped a soundmaker inside of a floor panel, making the alien crawl into the vent. And then I'd stand on top of the alien after reopening the panel. He'd scream and hiss, but his animation gets stuck if you do this, so you can just stand on his head without him attacking you. Hilarious! That cut the terror.
The longer you stay in one area increases the chances of the Xeno first brain telling second brain exactly where you are. so moving through areas more swiftly without sprinting helps a lot
I'll try to keep that in mind
THIS GAME IS SO NOSTALGIC. it's one of the first games to truly scare me; i spent most of my time playing hiding in lockers lol such a good game all the way through. i agree with you about chases too. tension during a chase is my biggest weakness. i really hope you continue to play this!!!
This game was revolutionary at the time for its AI design. The creature is actually governed by two different systems, the creature itself and a kind of overwatch AI that tells the alien where to hunt, occasionally giving away the players general vicinity. So the alien might not know exactly where you're hiding but it's never too far away.
So glad you made this video, with you playing this game. Can't wait for the next installment of where you get to. Keep up the great content Fooster, it's really very much appreciated.
We need another iteration of this franchise. Set the benchmark for atmosphere and AI.
I'm sooooooo happy you're playing this! It is my favorite game to watch others play as I have never been able to make it past the loading screen. I'm even more happy it's you because you are my favorite youtuber to watch.
I was the same way. Gotta get through it though it's worth it
At 1:20:02, I was SO relieved that you hid in that damn locker. I'd have spent the rest of the video in there if it were me, so mad props to you for being brave enough to exit!
And I died laughing every time after this moment when Fooster saw a locker or cabinet to hide in and said he needed to remember it was there in case he needed it, but then the moment the excrement hit the fan, that plan to hide went right out the window into outer space! 😂
I LOVED the Aliens series! I literally fall asleep to them🤣I couldn't get into anyone else playing this tho and i didn't want to play for myself cuz it looked heavily stealth based and i would've fallen asleep 😅 PLEEAAASEE make this a series! Hearing Sigourneys voice was sublime...
I've tried to play Alien Isolation several times. My friends jokingly say I'm playing Locker Simulator 2K. I genuinely have more time spent in lockers then running around in the game. I don't have any trouble playing other horror games, but this one... The stress is real! They've done such an amazing job with the ambient environment, little things here and there to keep you on your toes.. You slowly learn that when you start feeling safe, that's when you aren't... Getting stressed just watching it being played by others. Kudos for bravery!
Oooh, and I'm an 80s kid, watched the movies, all of them, several times, love them! Looking forward to Romulus! =D
If you continue this series I highly recommended reading all the terminals when possible there are so many layers to the story you can uncover in them
I went "OH SHIT" aloud when I saw that you posted this game lol. The fact that the alien learns and you can't rely on the same tactics to stay safe for too long...💀💀💀 I'm cheering for you(r heart), Fooster!!!
I would be saving every chance I get, but you've walked past save points a few times that you knew were there, but I guess it makes things more tense!
Holy crap the anxiety and fear in your voice is so genuine that it starts becoming scary for me who is only watching.
"Is this gonna be a stand up fight, sir, or another bug hunt?"
Soon as I saw the thumbnail (specifically the scanner in the thumbnail), I knew what was going on my second monitor for the next 2.5 hours. Glad to see you enter the nightmare, Fooster! Best of luck to you.
That’s very kind of you thank you
Ready for part two - Thanks for playing this.
Amazing fooster, in the last of it when it came out of the vent it was genuinely terrifying, it made me jumped I don't know what are you going through, man just great to watch your videos, Thanks for keeping us enjoy, stay safe, stay healthy, peace.👍
Thank you for the upload Fooster
Am i really about to watch another playthrough of alien isolation? Well yes but i thought they'd make a second one by now
Someone needs to remaster this with UE5 graphics.
Please keep playing this!! I would love to see this as a series!!! Super fun to watch!!
The amount of self restraint this game exercises is insane. It takes forever to just SEE the alien, but you’re absolutely wetting yourself the entire time anyway. That’s some writing skill right there. It feels so real. Such a build up. So much apprehension, even if you don’t know the series you just feel it in the air. You are being hunted.
this game is so good the atmosphere is perfect. i never progressed much passed the part of the game where the xenomorph starts actively hunting you because i was too scared to move around
Fooster and Alien Isolation? You just made these long days of summer more bearable 😎
10 years on and it’s still horrifying. Best of luck Fooster! I definitely want a series! ❤
The fact this is 10 years old and still my fav game in so many areas.
It uses the real 20th Century Fox Alien movie sounds from their archives.
The mix of heart thumping save gaps, the AI, story, play & level design is better than anything out today!
Even the physical action of saving and where they placed make it an achievement and satisfying to do.
Having tapes and read out computer recordings for story are excellent today so many are lazy with story telling and charectors.
rebuilding or reconnect parts of the station to geet about etc (tremendous) I just don't understand how more like this haven't been done.
I'm still scared to play this and the reaction to real sounds on your mic is next level let alone when it came out.
In Space - It all goes to hell.

It's insane to think about when this game came out. I remember watching the let's plays as they came out in school.
Please PLEASE make more of this it is so good and you will love the story. I know you can do it.
Love the content. I've noticed that you're experiencing an audio bug with the alien. If you cap your FPS to 90 or less, then this bug goes away and it will be 10x more immersive!

This is one of those games that just has something special about it, and after you get through playing it, you never forget how it made you feel.
the Alien is programmed with two AI's one that knows where you are at all times on the map and another that doesn't and is in control of the Aliens body. The first tells the other where you are then when the second gets there it forgets and searches the area for you. pretty neat.
Ha! I just made a similar comment a bit ago. Didn't see your comment until now. The one that controls the xenomorph also learns how you play and adapts its style.
It only adapts on Med or Hard. Easy is a breeze on here and that looks like what we are watching. Med is super hard and Hard is next to imposable.
