Chuck, you’re a good man. Happy Father’s Day to you and yours from Arizona

Happy Fathers Day... Sometimes you gotta go back to go forward and tighten that bolt... I've been there... Stay safe... Have a great day...

I broke my yoke, then got my cast iron out and had scrambled eggs! That's what you do when you don't know which way to tighten a bolt.... 😍
    Love ya man!

Great video!! Thank you!! I am replacing the Yoke after I snapped a strap bolt in it and was so worried about how to balance the new yoke with the old drive shaft!! Thanks for an honest and well thought out comment about this!!

You are welcome!! Don't stress about that. I've done so many yoke and factory driveshaft swaps. Not once have I had an issue with balance. I've seen so many CZcams videos where people are marking the yoke to driveshaft position. It really is NOT THAT critical. The only time you MIGHT have an issue is if the weight gets knocked off the driveshaft. Simply doing a yoke swap, you should not have an issue. Hope this helps! Have a great day!

    I agree 100% with your theory .

The other thing I've done to get me by for a week or so is use a grinder and take a little meat off flat section of the strap. Ultimately I drilled the yoke for the conversion and welded in electrical box tabs. Have worked flawlessly for 8 years now. I recommend spending the time and minimal money for a huge piece of mind.

Thanks chuck! Any idea why drive shaft yokes leak out of the tiny center hole?

Straps used to hold u-joints for any rear solid axle vehicle are a horrible idea: seems like something corporate bean-counters came up with to maximize profit. Have a '03 TJ with a Ford 8.8 rear that uses a flange to hold it's u-joints a and just installed a new SYE to combat all those ugly issues that lifting past 2" causes. Many issues with that stock rear Jeep Dana 35c is known for as I had one of those in the TJ when purchased new in 2003. Going from strap to u-bolt is quite prudent for safety purposes as well. Good video here!

I feel the same about those straps. They are a waste of effort!

I have I 91 jeep YJ I took the straps off the rear U joint As when we hit a bump and chop my driveshaft out of the rear differential. I got a new U joint upon trying to replace realized one of the strap bolts are broken off do you think I should replace with just three bolts on the hangers tried to use bolt out and different methods and not successful

I have 1995 wrangler YJ with 2.5 in it that keeps blowing the muffler out after about a year. Guy said it might be because too much fuel getting into exhaust? Any ideas what I could do to fix this?? I have replaced the exploded muffler 3 years in a row now. looks like it exploded from inside outward.

May very well be. You could have a semi-clogged fuel injector: just buy a newer refurbished set from eBay and that issue may go away, you'll have peace of mind as you're NOT using 25 year-old injectors + you'll get better mileage from your "brick" (traditional Jeep).

Same here, I welded in tabs from a metal electric box. Seem to be working fine, been running that jeep as a daily for 8 years and haven't failed.
