  • This is a way how you can play the most popular rhythm on congas: the tumbao or marcha. I will explain how to play this rhythm in a slow tempo so you can learn it easily. I hope you like this tutorial.

    This is a great introduction to the tumbao rhythm. I am a music teacher, and not a percussionist, so this video will be invaluable for me to teach this rhythm to my students.

    Hi Michael. Great instruction as usual. I have a question: I saw some pro series conga for sale but you can see all the glue on the inside of the shells. Is this normal? I've looked at some Mienle pro series and still the glue is all splattered and the wood strips are not perfectly aligned. Is this normal? I'm a drumset player so I'm used to seeing perfectly sanded and smooth drum shells. Thanks!

    • @MichaeldeMiranda
      @MichaeldeMiranda  Před 7 lety

      Hi Linda, You can always see some glue on the inside, because of the thickness of the wood. But nowadays it shouldn't be splattered anymore and the woodstrips should be aligned perfectly. They have good machines to make perfect congas. If you don't trust is or you don't have a good feeling about it, don't buy it. Good luck!

      @@MichaeldeMiranda Hello ! I also wanted to buy two congas - a quinto and a conga - is it confortable (musically speaking) to do the tumbao you show in this video with these two instead of conga and Tumba ?

    • @MichaeldeMiranda
      @MichaeldeMiranda  Před 3 lety

      @@stellaruffieux5887 It is no problem to play it on quinto and conga. Most of the time when you play in a band, percussionists play on conga and tumba. On quinto and conga the melody will sound a little bit higher. I wish you good luck!
