- There is much more to The Pretty Things than their 13 official albums. Adopting the name Electric Banana in 1967 the band recorded 5 albums for DeWolfe to be used in TV/movies. This collects all the songs (removing instrumental versions and non-Pretties songs) and places them chronologically to show the band's changing style. However, this still doesn't sum up the band's output outside the main albums. Check out our videos titled Homeless Singles, Turn My Head (songs only done live), Sunshine (1972), Phil May & the Fallen Angels (1978), Wally Waller's Do It/I Don't Feel Well (1978/1981) and Lost Late Leftovers. Saw The Pretty things in 2017,Derby…no more than 70-80 persons…a great concert,I met Phil May and Dick Taylor…Very sad to see how underapreciated were..
Accidentally found this... ❤️ it
Again.....Thanx alot pal. This is probably the most complete El.Banana coll.ever.Greatly appriciated!
No problem. I try not to duplicate what is already on youtube, but the only other one I saw had the instrumental version play after every song, which I found tedious.
@@finslaw Likewise. The flow of the songs lost continuety. You are doing a fantastic job promoting this superb, and sadly underrated band.
My favourite is possibly an instrumental called 'The Dark Theme' but isn't included here. I could never get into The Pretty Things but I love most of this stuff.
I agree
Skeeter Geetles
You have excellent taste and loyalty to the guy’s who made the music
I love these guys to, and lot’s more- you too, I’m sure…
Take care
Light years beyond 'Midnight To Six' & 'Roslyn'. Love Electric Banana! Thank you, Garrett
Very nice collection TNX
Giving a listen for the first time. I'm hoping that when I wake up in the morning, something will have stuck. I can see why they were respected by their peers in Britain. Great drummer. I grew up in the NYC listening area and I don't think they got much airplay here. Seems to me that they were able do it all. Very spontaneous. Maybe it's just a british thing and too complex for American ears. Idk...
Thank you Garrett Sorenson. I believe with your videos, knowledge, passion and generosity you are contributing to the teaching and preservation of history in a unique way. I for one am enriched by your efforts, a situation which would not exist otherwise. :)
Wow! I agree totally with everything you wrote. People passionate about music are my kind of people. --- Again, many, many thanks, Garrett Sorenson, you are making this world a better place!
I listened to the Pretty Things most of my life, but had trouble acquiring the Electric Banana recording’s. I had one cd and considered myself lucky.
I also appreciate this upload , something I rarely tell any of the excellent music guru’s who provide the best stuff in their music arsenals’
Appreciate it
What was special about these great musicians was the ability to adapt to the quickly changing culture in England and the US of the 1960s - It went from Beatniks to Hard rock and long hair in a pretty short time.
It was groovy, I was groovy, We were groovy We smoked Tai on a stick tee hee to you all.
There’s one song that I don’t hear yet you uploading fool( kidding) LSD
More then any recording at this moment the band is taken serious enough to put together the great sounding early songs that made them special, later. I’m glad to see this great music finally appreciated
That's so true, considering the band was never meant to be taken seriously.
The Electric Banana was only formed to record a couple of albums of generic 1960's rock songs for public domain music archives that could be freely used as background music in movies & television shows.
But,when their music began to be shared, and their name quickly gained notoriety, there was no way they could avoid the spotlight and gain the worldwide cult fan base it had. The Electric Banana became famous almost as fast as Oprah Winfrey can inhale and strip an entire turkey carcass clean from across the room!
15:09 Grey Skies. Heard in the background of the wonderfully B-level Horror House movie and it caught my ear. I discovered Pretty Things. Still new to discovering them but I just find this song amazing haha
AWESOME!!! Thank you
A Thousand Ages From The Sun, which I just heard on season 5, ep3 of "Better Call Saul" KICKED MY ASS! Had never heard any Pretty Things music till now! What a great unique band.
Thankyou forthis
"Eagle's Son" is a jam
Walk Away (54:35) quite good. Heard in the sweeney series.
Love adore “I could not believe my eyes”
Street girl (12:24) is an awesome tune and I heard love, dance and sing (20:03) on Top Gear. Fantastic songs and an awesome band. (25:20) is a wicked piece of tuneage.
Beautiful!!!
There are also instrumental versions of many of the songs.
