The Durga Puja of West Bengal, specially Kolkata is truly spectacular, the level of creativity which flows in the making of Goddess Durga and the Pandal is something I've never seen before.
I love this channel, so pleased to learn about India’s beautiful traditions. The more I learn about what we in the west call Hinduism, the more I am drawn to it. It is the exactly opposite of the feelings when I learn about Islam. Islam scares me and strikes me as inherently evil, while I feel love when I learn about Hinduism.
Hinduism is the only religion where we worship a female deity, Mother Durga.
Islam just has a different ethos similar to other Abrahamic faiths. It has a proselytizing aspect, which is why it is the 2nd largest religious group in the world after Christianity and it is by no accident. Both Christianity and Islam allowed various imperial powers use it to exercise their right to rule and spread its teaching either by conversion, coercion, or through violence, or through business and trade. And I can sense why Islam rubs people the wrong way, because most Muslims get arrogant about when people question the plot holes of the faith
Islam is like the toxic version of all the Abrahamic faith. The sharia laws are created just to create a intricate system of oppression. I can't imagine all that in Hinduism.
So what's up?
It's just amazing to see all this artistry come alive...all these statues being created and decorated and just a splash of colour thrown onto the canvas of the world in a time where all the lights are going out. At least India can keep the lights on and the colours vibrant....unlike the West...

Mother goddess of Durga? It's Mother Goddess Durga. Correct the sentence.
This is English way of speaking, a bit olden and formal but grammatically correct as well. "The city of Delhi" won't mean there is another city in Delhi but "Delhi, the city" instead. Similarly "the mother goddess of Durga" does not mean they are speaking about another goddess, the mother of the goddess of Durga but, "Durga, the mother goddess" instead.
LoL it makes me laugh seeing all these single god worshippers being afraid of idol making and saying it will wreck havoc in the world, where one god worshippers are the ones who wrecks the most havoc in the whole world, while idol makers & worshippers aren't.

@@turning_point96 By that logic all pujas should get it. In reality you dont even feel there is Ganesh Chaturthi if you are not involved. But for Durga Puja every square inch of the city is lit up and decorated. IEvery lane every gully becomes one kalaghora festival. Even the buldings around the pandal are painted with art. Traffic routes are changed. And the creativity overflows in about 4000 pandals. Ganesh Chaturthi is definitely as important and actually more devoted religiously speaking, but no where near as big as Durga Puja in terms of creation.
