But, I saw in "Myth Busters" that actually, having your pickup bed open (but tailgate) up, is more aerodynamic than having the tailgate open (which is like having a Retrax on it). Why? Because air gets caught in the bed area, and acts like a bubble... directing air flowing over the vehicle smoothly off the back. Basically, shaping the pickup like a sedan.

My Retrax cover was installed on my F150 by the Ford dealership in 2019. The cover over time has become difficult to retract open to the point that significant effort is needed to open it completely. Any suggesty?
Are any modifications needed to be made to the factory bedliner for a Retrax One MX installation for a 2017 Ridgeline ? Can you provide any referra contacts for 2017 Ridgeline oweners who ourchased and installed one? TY
The only modifications would be if you wanted to drill into the bed to insert the drain tubes. If not, there should be no modifications. We don’t have any customers you can call but I can tell you we’ve sold a lot with really no complaints!

A bed with the tailgate up, without a cover, creates more drag.
