    This was exactly what I was hoping for. I'm installing a cover on my F150 and wanted to see where guys were putting the lines. Thanks.

      Me too since my old 07 150 had drain holes in the floor I figured let me look & see if anyone posted about this before I get the drill out-nice to get a video that gets to the point

    Expensive truck like these I would hope they should come predrilled and preinstalled with drain, that is so basic I never own a pickup but during heavy rain or in car wash I don’t want any water collecting in the bed of the truck

      They do come with plugs you can remove. They are the pieces I removed to install the drilled ones to accommodate the hoses for the cover purchased separately. Thanks for watching Sumera👍🏻

    Great video but I have a dumb question.
    Why not just drill through the plug that has the bed liner on it? Instead of having to get new ones?
    Thanks

      It’s me. I like to keep things stock. If I ever get rid of the top I will replace with the liner coated plugs👍🏻the ones I ordered are cheap enough.

    I'm looking at this cover, have you had any issues with it so far? I've been doing a lot of research and there's always a compromise somewhere. The compromise with this one is that it is very expensive and you lose some bed space in the front. I can live with that because of the other advantages this has, but I want to get your opinion on it so far. By the way, beautiful GSD, I have one too and they're the best 👍

      So far so good with this top! The only thing and I have to wait till the winter that sometimes when the water gets into the retractable area it freezes and you’re unable to open and close it because it’s frozen. I won’t know until I actually have that issue if it does come up. Other than that it is a great top the drains well. I wash with a hose and it stays perfectly dry. It is pricey but it will last I’ve had it for a while still looks new. I’ll let you know how I do after the winter if you want to check in. If not good luck with the top or whichever you choose

      @@HighRidgeHandyman thanks, I appreciate it. It does look like it's well built and that's one of the important factors for me as well as security. A lot of covers look good initially but they Leak a lot and they start to fall apart after a couple of years. One thing they usually have in common is vinyl/plastic coming unglued or coming undone because of fatigue. Another major consideration for me is security and this top looks like it is pretty much the top of that category. A lot of those covers have a cable on the back and the latching system seems inadequate to me. This one has a more robust design and I will pay more for that feature anytime. Not only that but this cover really looks good, I like it a lot. There is one other consideration that is important to me, the xr series has the built-in track system and you can have an endless possibility of racks and accessories from top manufacturers like yakima, Thule and rhino too I think. This is a major consideration for me because we go camping a lot and I just picked up a kayak, so this one pretty much seals the deal for me. Even without that, this cover really is at the top of the heat when it comes to build quality and security. Powder coated aluminum is pretty damn tough and a locking system is more secure than a cable in my opinion. Like I said before I know there are compromises and you have to choose what is most important to you, but I think this one has the best all-around features for me. I look forward to updates, thanks

    Where does the water go once it drain behind that plastic bed liner? How does it find its way to the ground? i

    • @HighRidgeHandyman
      @HighRidgeHandyman  Před rokem +1

      The drain lines installed thru the caps hang a little on the outside of the bed. The water just falls to the ground. I should have shown the exposed lines thru the bed.

    Can you just insert the tube into the drain plug? What's the downside of not covering it up?

    • @HighRidgeHandyman
      @HighRidgeHandyman  Před rokem

      You can if you’d like. The main reason for me. Actually two reasons. One- I like the way it looks with almost a factory made look. Two- to keep the mice out if I have anything stored in there I want to keep safe👍🏻

    Couldn’t you just remove the drain plugs and feed the line down into the hole? Maybe the plugs look better, but not much..

    • @HighRidgeHandyman
      @HighRidgeHandyman  Před rokem

      You could but if you keep things in your bed you don’t want mice to get to I advise you do it this way👍🏻

      Not really. They are mostly aluminum now.
