In West Africa Ghana to be specific our diet is mainly carbohydrates made from cassava, maize, millet and yams. We eat heavy breakfast, heavy lunch and heavy supper mostly made from starch carbohydrates
Say it again, hence more lean ppl in ghana but it's sad that the culture is changing towards western diet
The doctor was immediately annoyed the minute he mentioned carbs lol. The doctor is so tired of it lol.
yes lol I saw that too
The Whoever lmao I said the same thing!!! He got pissed when he asked about it!! đđđ
Hes automatically bias, looks like a carb addict, bet he loves his potatoes, and hates when people say he should stop
Haha facts
B B
Youâre the one who is bias. Oats, sweet potatoes and potatoes, quinoa, berries, bean, lentils, whole grains are extremely tasty, healthy an 50x better than butter, bacon, cheese, hotdogs, red meats. And ppl on keto say that cholesterol and satfats donât have anything to do with ldl cholesterol, and the 50% of them that do have high ldl say that itâs from carbs, lmao.
I started low carb high fat
I avoid processed foods and have cut out added sugar
My overall health has improved
My cholesterol is lower mg blood pressure is good
My blood sugar is lower
My memory and brain function has improved substantially
My energy level is great and im sleeping better
Yes i still have the ocassional treat food but since breaking my sugar addiction i no longer have cravings for processed sugary treats
Im 52 years old and honestly feel better now than when i was younger
does complex carbs spikes insulin like oatmeal?
Maybe you got your sugar naturally and thats what makes you feel better. =)
Its good for short term, bad for long term..
Wow....don't listen to these clowns, do what works for you...đȘđŸđđŸ

Practically everything we eat releases insulin; however, complex carbohydrates takes much longer to cause an insulin release than simple carbohydrates.
This is because complex carbohydrates are low glycemic carbs, and take longer for the body to break down and digest.
Always love, love, love Dr. Mills. He really is good at explaining why Whole Foods are the means of creating good health. Weâve been eating this way and have found that the meals now actually leave you full and satisfied. This satisfaction extends to when you are due for your next meal so you can still not be nibbling all while one is cooking to get the meal prepared. Hereâs the thing, everyone thinks it is going to be hard to do, and tasteless. On the contrary, combining different plant foods together in one meal plays really well between the various textures and flavors. It is absolutely delicious.
My husband made the change after Iâd been eating this way several years and he enjoys it so much he is glad to sit down at the meals I prepare and he never ceases during the meal to tell me how delicious it all is. It is also beautiful to look at as the color of steamed vegetables is gorgeous.
Heâs got energy to beat the band. He is 70 years old now and has more get up and go, than when he was 20 years younger. And our minds are sharp, he goes over to troubleshoot electrical problems for our son who had the electrician from hell. He explains as he goes so our son is learning how to diagnose continuity in even 220 circuits safely and how to make the most of his multimeter. They get along great. When he comes home, he is not exhausted. Clearly his digestion is as suited to this diet as is mine. He looks younger than when he began this as when we eat wrong, it over-burdens the organs which detox up like the liver and the kidneys and even the skin, trying to dump toxins through the pores even. This does not happen to either of us. Body odor is at a minimum. We do not smell bad, no longer need deodorants but of course we shower or bathe with soap. I am not consuming much in the way of fats or oils but what I am having, my skin is healthier, not itchy, all my blackheads I had for 60 years are even gone no matter if they were on my face or my back.
Cooking is fun and I am not tired after I make a meal, we eat our big meal at lunch and very light in the evening. I can be in there on my feet for 1-1/2 hours prepping and then a half an hour clean up and donât feel exhausted afterwards. This was not the case when we ate meat, for either of us. And when I started this, the way I was eating had me in a wheelchair with arthritis pain, pain which I can remember but no longer live with.
It is never to late to make a change. My husband had prostate cancer 5 years ago, the ones he worked with who were also ready to retire, there were three who also had it, (it is now as common for men to get this kind of cancer), but my husband had a great surgeon who recommended surgery as the other option was chemo and radiation. The other three men all are dead now but my husbandâs cancer was worse, they did not have stage 4, like he did. The WFPB diet helps one to recover from not only obesity and arthritis but asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, brain fog, and it is the best at stopping angiogenesis which is when the body fails to stop cancer and actually builds a blood supply for it. So the WFPB diet starves the cancer and even though a surgeon can do a good job, the cells can even so, get in your blood and transport through the body to make new cancers. This is a common problem.
The emotional factor of feeling better is just a feeling of well-being and happiness. We sleep better, and one is never constipated at all.
I ask my husband sometimes if he is getting tired of eating this way, and he always tells me âno, I never want to go back, even if something happened and you passed away, God forbid, I would not go back to my former eating habits.â Really I am amazed.
It is much easier doing it together. He also knows how much I suffered before changing my diet and all that I can do now pain-free, is amazing. No one tells themselves, âhey, what a good day to use my wheelchairâ. It is a pain in the butt to tell the truth, when you donât have to reach even for a cane, who would?
The doctor is spot on! Complex carbs and simple carbs are not the same.
Depends how you look at it. They are all saccherides, some simple, some complex. but all made up of the same basic elements of carbon hydrogen and oxygen. But after digestion they all end up as the same simple sugars in our bodies to be oxidised for energy release, or stored away if here is more than is needed. When there is too much stored, that is when the damage starts.
mchooksis - I love the scientific specifics, however, in the context of diet they are different. I doubt it would matter if we were on an ancient diet and ate plain white potatoes vs sweet potatoes, but we arenât and potato chips/french fries vs sweet potatoes are not the same, nor is cake the same as brown rice.
@@kingwillie206 Thanks King Willie, I agree, they are very different when it comes to what we eat, but my point was that by the time they are broken down by digestion, they are the same. Chips and cake are quite different because they contain added sugar and fats as well. Cake in particular contains simple sugars which will go straight into the blood giving a sugar/energy hit. Which means that by the time the complex carbs in the cake flour are digested into simple sugars, the body will say . Hey we don't need any more sugar right now, we had better store it somewhere.

Since i went vegan and adopted a plant based diet, iâve never eaten so many carbs (good quality) - feeling energetic, healthy and very fit! Thanks for the video
The problem is in generalising. You feel good on vegan, I felt awful. No energy, always cold. I managed to be on vegan diet for 6 months and I will alway remember the time I ate fish and started to feel warm. I will never ever come back to vegan diet due to lack of proteins. And no, beans never made me warm, but only bloated. I don't know how people can manage on veganism. Also I was controlling cholesterol through different diets I was doing and I had perfect blood test results on low carb high fat and protein diet (I excluded grains, starch and highly fibrous vegies and was eating fried meat 3x a day). When I started include carbs (rice, gluten free bread) I gained weight very quickly and my cholesterol went up. Also I started to be hungry all the time. I really have enough lies about how we should eat vegan, meat is bad and full grains and beans are good. If you enjoy vegan - continue. But don't force all people for going vegan and don't spread lies that this is the best diet ever. To be honest I don't know which diet is the best so anybody who has issues with digestion, like me, should do elimination diet and that is what I am doing. And yes, beef meat is hard to digest for me personally, but sheep is the best meat ever for me. Plus chicken, plus fish and lard from pig. But different people can have different outcome. And yes, eating pig fat does not raise my cholesterol. But rice and bread do.
Bravo!!
@@ObraumDziemniaka doubt it
@@eps-nx8zg on what basis do you doubt someone else's personal experience? Do you have peer reviewed scientific research you can link? Every single person's gut microbiome is different, even in identical twins, so every person will react differently to different foods/diets. You may be interested in Zoe twin study/gut microbiome research, but probably not.
@@ObraumDziemniaka Same here. Did a clean low salt no cholesterol low fat vegan diet. Every single thing prepared at home, fresh food, complex carbs.
After bit over 2months I just gave up. Constant foodprep and eating half of the day just to be overstuffed from the huge amounts of food while still feeling like I'm starving.
Literally the worst I've felt on any diet.
Just biting in a piece of meat or some eggs made my brain light up as if it's freaking cocaine lol. Like i got life energy back drawn into me.
No more constant thoughts of food or what to eat next. Just satiety and that's it.
Yes, I learned a lot. I loved when he said, what good is a thin corpse. I eat a whole food plant base diet every since my bypass in 2006, and I get so tired of people telling me to avoid Carbs..
High carbs all potatoes is winning the prize for me.
One huge piece that Iâd say is left out of this discussion is portions. Most people eat very high portions of food overall so cutting carbs is still be something to consider especially when already coping with a chronic disease and wanting to treat is naturally.
That's why it's better to mix carbs with veggies. I make a Mexican style lasagna that is 350 calories per pound which means I can eat the whole tray and still have eaten less than 2000 calories. All my meals are designed that way. I make chili, hash brown casserole, stir fry, tacos, frittatas, pastas, loaded baked potatoes etc. It's better to think of it as a high fiber diet than a high carb diet, although relatively speaking it's still high carb because it's generally 10 percent calories from protein and 10 to 15 percent fat. The rest of the calories are carbs. When you eat high fiber, you get to eat a LOT. LOL (I lost 70 pounds so far. I'm at a normal BMI but because I'm a little older and less active, I still have a little extra very stubborn weight).
There's so much conflicting information out there, I don't know what to believe. I'm on the keto diet now and I've never felt better in my life.
The Ghost Of Toby well thereâs your answer đŻ
Eat as close to the source as possible.
Problem Solved.
What i have learned is: people go keto, they feel great. They go vegan: they feel great, they go carnivore: they feel great. People on every single diet swear by it and feel great. Whats the common factor? All these people stop eating processed shit and putting crap in there body and i think this is the main reason they become more healthy. We are all different do what works for you. If you want to be vegan then go for it, just see that you get enough vitamins and minerals and don't judge other people who do not share your views. not everyone can survive on a vegan diet, some people are even forced to stop after years of being vegan. If you want to go on some other diet then that is fine too. Do what works for you! Me i try to eat meat once a week and it works for me.
If you feel great then keep it up.

A lot of salty low-carb diet pushers on here are laughing and making the point that Dr Mills isnât in the best shape ie, a little larger than what would be healthy.
This is due to him being in a terrible car accident which nearly crippled him & damaged his spine, he cannot excersise because of it, hence him appearing slightly overweight.
He also barely ever has to take pain killers for a partially collapsed spine, he attributes that to the plant based diet he is on, because it is very low in inflammation.
Please think before you pass judgement
Callum MacKay I would like to know where you got that information. It would be great if you could post a link.
Sephisponge Hi, he said it himself at the start of one of his Seminars, it was the one where he puts forward the theory that humans are herbivores by nature with lots of good facts to back it up.
I canât remember what one it was, but you can find it on youtube (:
maybe he should try low-carb diet like keto, he doesnât need to exercise and still be in shape and healthy. Diet he is preaching ainât working for him, obviously
At his current shape. I bet he would die even faster from following this diet he's preaching. lol
y34r Nope, high carb diets limit arterial plaque massively, just because heâs slightly stocky does not mean he is unhealthy inside
I started my new eating habits as low carb. But once I realized I was introducing more veggies and with the help of vegan gains, I decided to jump the plank and go head first in plant based. My only annoyance is how little food option there is when you are out and about.
This will save you so much money
Imagine what it was like when I went vegan 15 years ago then. And when I went vegetarian years before that, it was even worse! Soy milk actually tasted like beans because they hadn't perfected it yet.
Thanks for this information! I'm recently vegan and I eat whole grains only. I eat about 4 servings of fruit and I'm forcing myself to eat more veggies.
Iâm not against low-carb diets at all, but my family do. After watching this, i would reduce my processed carbs now such as processed sugar-ry snacks etcâ€ïž thankyou!
I went low carb and lost a lot of weight and feel good. That should be enough.
Good for you, it realle should be about what works for you an nothing else. For me the only way I can lose weight is if I cut carbs completely.
It's only about what works for you. That WFPB sound good until you try it. Then you blow up thinking you did something wrong Keto/low carb is the only thing worked for me lost 80lbs and still can't do WFPB so what that tell me it's not for me! I've tried everything Keto/low carb only thing that works!
Absolutely! We modern humans are not earning our calories like we once did. We are not fasting/starving until we get off our asses and hunt for one, two, three days or more until we can eat a decent meal, or cultivating crops 20 hours a day to survive, etc. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to cut carbohydrates, otherwise the excess energy will be stored as fat. Calories in, calories out, and carbs have a lot more calories per spoonful than protein derived from meats and vegetables.
Your are a total meat head. You watched this video and all you got from it was i went low carb and lost alot of weight and feel good. We are doomed! We should have a vote, how many of us are not sheeple?
Sancho Panza No. It should be what your body needs; not by what you read that works. Lol. Delusional people.
I just learned so much! Thank you a million times!
This is why the keto diet uses NET CARBS. It sort of forces you to eat high quality vegetables and fruits that are very high in fiber resulting in a low net carb total.
I personally feel better with more carbs than the keto diet requires but keto if done correctly is a good way to train yourself how to eat healthier even if you donât plan to stay in ketosis.
Highly processed meats, grains and sugars need to be avoided for optimal health, period. While whole grains may carry more micronutrients that can be beneficial for your health, the human body has a lot of difficulty extracting them so you end up only slightly better off than eating refined grains.
This was obviously a biased opinion that supports this channelâs view. Plant based diets are not superior to well balanced diets and there are no well designed studies that suggest as much.

Clarity is SO important ! That man explained it so clearly . Thanks very much :)
I love this. Whole foods is the way to go! Well said and easily understood! I didnt pick up weight until after i ate lots of processed crap. In addition, i developed migraines. Its important for people to KNOW THEIR OWN BODIES. What works for one may not work for others. There is no one size fits all. Keto did not work for me. And yes i did it correctly. It wasnt until "I" increased my carbohydrates in "MY" diet that i then lost 1lb a day for 6 days straight. I felt better. I have a friend that did great on keto , but it wasnt for me. Im so glad i can think for myself and have the ability to listen to "MY" own body. To each their own. Loved this interview!!!!
In my opinion, there's no best diet. It, first of all, it depends on you. secondly, try avoiding processed foods and go for the whole foods as much as you can.

Iâm a low carb convert, but I donât think this off the cuff presentation covers the issues properly. I went low carb for twenty years, off and more often off, than on. But I did have success with bloods when I was following the diet. My sugars were lower and my cholesterol both were lower and my triglycerides lower. What i didnât realise was that even with low cholesterol readings my arteries could be clogged up. I never did any tests to confirm that I have to say, but apparently there are many tests which prove this.
For just one month Iâve been eating a whole food plant based diet which is primarily carb based. Iâve eaten more potatoes, white, sweet purple, in three weeks than Iâve eaten in 20yrs. My blood sugars are down. My blood pressure hasnât changed, yet, waiting to get cholesterol results in a couple of months. Iâm diabetic and have been taking pills for over ten years. What Iâve learned is that doctors have zero nutritional training, diddly squat and the best they can ever do is tell you to loose weight. But they are clueless about how to do it. None of them understand that the diabetic problem canât be sorted with pills and insulin, so they forget the pills and insulin only treat the symptoms, not the cause. Using diet to treat the cause helps to reverse diabetes. Low carb diets donât reverse diabetes, pills and insulin donât reverse diabetes, they just stop the blood sugars rising sometimes and if youâre lucky might even lower blood sugar levels but not for ever, whole food plant based diets do reverse diabetes. Do lower blood sugar levels.
Dr Mills is clever does understand but Iâm wondering if he doesnât practise what he preaches, heâs chubby isnât he!
This seems more about herbivores vs carnivores than it does about low carb vs high carb. I've eaten both low carb ketogenic and high carb vegan. Both had their advantages and disadvantages. But when we come down to it, we are omnivores designed to eat a variety of different foods from all regions of this planet. Some regions eat more plants and some regions eat more meat. None of these diets were an issue until we started allowing hydrogenated vegetable oils, refined sugar and factory farming to our tables. Processed foods are killing us, that seems to be the only reliable science we can all agree on. So lets just simmer down and take a deep breathe. Talking about food has become the new religion and politics.
I did Keto for a few months. Within the first few weeks I lost loads of body fat. I ate clean carbs before and wondered why I had weight issues - cutting them out was great for me!
@keto cycler and fat goes directly from your gut to your arteries.

ive tried what he is talking about and it got me no where and i found my self more hungry. sorry but keto has literally saved me from being over weight the rest of my life AND not to mention having to worry about developing any sort of issues like diabetes, now that i have lost 105lbs and am down to a healthy weight i am now starting to bulk up. it sounds like FDA taught bs to me. but who am i.

What is gluconeogenesis? What are the essential carbohydrates?
There no such thing as ess. Carbs. Enzyme, fat, amino acid are ess.
@@christophertutson4788 Exactly he's saying that there is no such thing as an essential Carbohydrate
Just because it's not essential doesn't mean it has no benefits for the body. They are a good source of energy nonetheless and humans have the enzymes to break carbohydrates down.
yeah, I keep asking that question too and nobody on any of these Plant Based videos ever has an answer. EVER!!! LOL
The idea that our natural state is a diet devoid of one of the most abundant nutrients found in countless foods, is ridiculous.
That food source is also the least nutrient accessible food that we eat. We don't have the cellulase enzyme required to breakdown the cellulose plant cell membrane(wall) to access the micro-nutrients contained within them. I bet your vegan information never told you that.
yet..We do have the readily accessible ability to breakdown cholesterol which is what animals use for their cell membranes. So eating animal organs gives us incredibly rich and easy access to nutrients that the animal with the enzyme was eating and able to absorb.
Or just juice it, which ever/both.
@Xavier Last time I checked we are not eating burdock nor grass, funny how your 'natural' meat based diet is only possible with variety of advanced tools - you are in no way shape or form naturally meant to consume animals - only because our brain grew fast giving us variety of tools and in your case crazy ideas - does not mean we are supposed to eat and behave in such a way
Whenever I eat salads I have diarrhea is there a connection? I just use pure virgin olive oil as the dressing. Whenever I eat a burger and fries I never have diarrhea! Whatâs up with that?
I vote in favor of a low Carb diets. No denying they work for weight loss Has worked for me and down 43lbs in 5 months. The only time I have carbs are in their whole forms and avoid eating them in conjunction with fats and protein. Meaning my main big meals are carb free yet Iâll eat a fruit or vegetable as an individual snack in between.
Wow, I never knew that gold potatoes are better than Russet. So cool to learn! I love that I always learn something from Dr. Mills. Thank you so much for doing this interview!
Soul in the Raw potatoes are great because they are good energy and have just the right amount of protein that we need unlike many foods that have too much protein. Protein is the most significant factor for reduced longevity.
Purple potatoes >>>>
You should try baked potato sandwich with golden potatoes. So quick to cook! So good, too.
Think color when you think of your foods. White food products are primarily not nutritious especially processed foods that end product is white.
can the good doctor name an essential carbohydrate
No such thing
Sugar is the vegan GOD, some people just can't live without it.

I eat carbs: kale, chard, broccoli, raddichio... all great carb sources. However, my calories definitely dont come from then
I agree that the quality of the carbs matter, but Iâm not sure if Iâm sold on âthe amount of carbs donât matterâ concept. Personally, my body does not lose weight if I consume too many carbs but I have more energy when I eat carbs. So I think itâs about finding a balance for yourself and focusing on high quality carbs.
@Chanel Harper I, too, agree that the quality of the carbs makes a difference.
So when I don't eat anything for 3 days my brain doesn't work ?

Obviously you have not tried fasting for a few days.
I've been sarcastic about.
If you have too much carbs to often, you are not metabolically flexible, then you might feel uncomfortable.
I feel nothing when I don't eat for a few days and I have more energy and my brain and body works better
Really interesting. Thank you.
Good video! Dr Mill is a fantastic expert. Thanx a lot!
Thought this was key and peele skit! This has to be a joke! Keto saved my life!
Exactly
exactly because you were fucked by simple sugars, for some reason the doctor is saying they are not good, but you are better as better would be someone that having his water contaminated with arsenic for a long time starts using beer instead of water or as someone would sleep better in the park grass in December after a long time of trying to sleep with the noisest neighbors in the world. Don't drink beer, don't sleep in the park try very complex carbs, like whole oat, rice, and good beans. (avoiding from fruit to soda and juices) google macrobiotics and don't get content with a life saved, get an excellent life!!! (I promise)
Great video. I lost 113 pounds with a combination of keto and good carbs. Just eat clean!
I'm assuming you did some form of carb cycling or reintroduced them after keto because to be in ketosis you have to eat under 50g carbs daily, preferably under 20g. Anything above 30g-50g will be low carb but not keto for most people.
@@mikeg8276 actually I combined my keto which was below 20g. And intermittent fasting. Occasionally I'd give myself a 3-4 day break and then go back into the below 20g for about two weeks, but when I did eat excess carbs I made sure it was the good stuff...
Does the benefit change if they are cooked? Does cooking whole food have a negative impact with our insulin levels? I have problems with sugar levels, even though Iâm not a diabetic.
Health Man. Yes. Eat less "mushy" vegetables. Soft on the outside and "al dente" on the inside. Also, eat the "skin" of vegetable and fruits most of the nutrients are close to the outer skin. Exception, apples, they can cause irritable bowel syndrome. Eat them cooked. Cooking increases the digestibility of most foods. You will learn which foods and preparation methods suit your DNA.
I just proved most of what he said in this video. We had to evacuate for the hurricane and were lucky enough to find a studio apt out of state with an apartment sized kitchen. So, I grabbed the food from our home fridge/freezer and loaded coolers to bring with us so that I didn't have to throw it all out. When we got here, I started cooking up all of the veggies and made soup or salads almost daily. Towards the end, we were running out of food and so I didn't want to go and buy more food that we would have to take back with us in case we didn't have electricity when we got back. So we had to resort to restaurants and fast food which we normally don't consume. I felt healthy for the first part of the week. When we had to switch to restaurants/fast foods, well....we are leaving tomorrow and I am not feeling that great. We still have another night stopover on the road and I am concerned about how I will feel once I am at home. If we don't have electricity and the grocery stores are empty, we will have to resort to canned goods and some of my dehydrated veggies. I am so glad that I dehydrated some food as it will come in handy and it is pure food without additives. One more thing is that I found that I was feeling weird and took my BP only to find that it had gone up after eating out so much. Our bodies are not used to consuming so much salt. I use a lot of herbs in place of salt. All of the restaurant salty food has played havoc on me. So....this man speaks the truth.
Most Africans naturally don't eat a lot of meat and yet have better stamina.... Indians mostly don't eat meat yet function alright.
Ang Aur Thatâs not what I heard, Africans love meats they are culturally meat based cultures and there is nothing wrong with that itâs the manufactured stuff that causes sickness in humans.

Also, Dr. McDougal who is a great doctor would agree with him 100%!
I need to ask a question, but in order to so I must be gross and personal. I have been on the starch based diet for 6 days. I am completely miserable in my stomach. I feel naucious when I think of food and when I do eat I feel gassy to the point of pain. My intestines are violently cramping and my stools are like mashed potatoes from hell. I wake up in pain at 3am and literally fill the toilet for an hour. This can't be normal right? I have lost a significant amount of weight though. 10 pounds in the last 6 days. But this stomach pain and gassiness is miserable.
Very informative, cheers.
So imagine a plate of chicken, rice, and brocolli for every meal... if you skip the rice, your brain will shrivel up and die?
Rice is a carb, so no, however, if you only eat chicken and broccoli you will definitely lose weight if your portions are within a normal range.
Your body does NOT need dietary carbohydrates because guess what ... it can and does create it's own carbs! Your brain can also run on ketones which are in fact a better fuel source.
Just like religion, people who have been fed the wrong info all their lives will believe what they were taught with unabashed ignorance.
Some will even believe the new & improved nonsense they see on low-carb YT channels.
@@megavegan5791 Keto was developed in the 1920s to treat epilepsy. Since 500B.C. people have been using fasting-type diets to improve health (read up on Hippocrates). Low-carb isn't new.

KETO is awesome I've lost weight not hungry as much my fitness is improved dramatically. Dr Berg i thank you đ
Yeah screw this fatass!!
Keto diet is totally wrong. I almost ended up in the ER. I had joint pains, back pains, fatigue, memory problems. The brain consume sugars as the main source. Ketone bodies are secondary and not giving much energy as glucose. The right way is a diet with moderate whole grains consumption, little fats and a lot of vegetables. The Dr is absolutely right. Btw there are medical studies demonstrating high mortality in people doing keto low carbs diet.

How do I get All my nutrition on a whole food plant based diet?
I eat 7 to 10 cups of vegetables every day with organic fat of my choice and organic coconut milk. The energy I have is incredible. Isn't that whole food? I'm into a year doing this, diabetes almost gone by the way with less medication.
Should I stop this horrific eating or continue ingesting whole food high carb meals so I can keep taking medication with awful side effects?
The basis of the doctor's argument of the necessity of carbs, that the brain runs on glucose, doesn't account for ketones.
Ketosis is literally brain starvation , lol. Enjoy starving yourself.
@@kevinmathew4884 either you know something about how ketones function that i don't (if so i'd like an explanation because that's counterintuitive to the information i looked up when i cared about this), or you don't know what you're talking about. the brain uses ketones in lieu of glucose - iirc, ketones are actually more effective. but i only did keto for like 2 weeks, it's too much hassle for me to stick to long term.
Thank you very much for this!
This Dr. isn't wrong on how many people in the U.S. turn to refined over whole carbs for fuel. But the brain does not always need glycogen (a by-product of carbs). In fact, for folks with epilepsy, doctors will almost always suggest the patient adopts a Ketogenic Diet (Low Carb, Moderate Protein, High fat).
Instead of worrying over which diet is best, or which macronutrient is most essential. Research suggests that anyone adopting a keto, paleo, vegan, or no regimen would benefit from eating Whole nutrition Foods (fruits, vegetables, organic grass-fed meats, low/no mercury fish, etc). Furthermore, fat loss requires more than just a diet. Controlling hormones through exercise, sleep, engaging in activities that produce (FLOW - the scientific term for being in-the-zone, happy, fully-engaged and immersed in a task for a period of time), and more
