So I Flew With Ryanair...

- Throughout 2019 and 2020, I took a couple flights with Europe's largest low-cost carrier, through their hub in Dublin.
However, I never actually posted any of those since I focus more on Canadian airlines here, and I figured people might not be as interested.
By popular demand on my channel member Discord though (see below), here it is - a Ryanair trip report from Dublin, Ireland, to Rzeszów, Poland!

The fact Ryanair in over 35 years of operation have never had a fatal incident or accident in mind blowing.
and i cant believe they haven't had an accident from their "smooth" landings!
All those hard landings, and yet no fatalities
For the price, it's hard to beat Ryanair. They've provided me with an opportuntiy to visit many cities throughout Europe which otherwise I could not afford to see.
Yep same. Just got some really cheap tickets to bruxelles and dublin
You know High Speed Rail exists there, right?
@@coastaku1954 huh?
@@yannisandrei3603 When traveling in the UK and Mainland Europe (I know you said Dublin, you get a pass), there is high quality High Speed Rail, way better than flying
@@coastaku1954 but i am not travelling from bruxelles to dublin. I got tickets for belgium now ( in a few weeks ) and dublin later, in the autumn. Thank you for the suggestion tho
Been on so many Ryanair flights. You get what you pay for with them. Ultimately it's a bus on wings and gets you where you need to be at a super low cost so as much as I'd love to knock them, I've had flights cheaper than a train from my hometown to London. Will be flying with them once again in a couple of weeks
don't mind me stealing "bus with wings" hahahaha. I'll forever use that to describe Ryanair.
@@giths19 haha steal away!
Well, it's more like it gets you within 130km of where you need to be. I mean If you get a flight to Beauvis and expect it to be anywhere near Paris based on Ryanair ads, you"re up for a rude awakening...
@@giths19 it's not exactly a new expression. People in yhe industry have called it that for 20 years or more.
Completely agree. I used to fly a lot between Italy and Spain, I used AirEuropa and was really happy about it, but after Ryanair restarted operations after Covid, I made the switch. It's way less premium, but it cuts off 70% of the cost, at the price of a slight inconvenience (worst sits, worst terminals or longer walks in the same terminal, sometimes boarding with the 737 built-in stairs). I saved hundreds of euros flying the same airplane type.
Ryanair flight attendant here!
7:13 trust me, sometimes there are times you avoid eye contact and then there is the time in which you actually have a very nice conversation with the people in front of you.
Then there's is the problem on the new MAX 200 planes in which a cabin crew literally has to sit in the MIDDLE of the cabin facing passengers because of the extra emergency exits but we're not going to talk about that.
Also fun fact on the first flight, the front plane stairs where broken because they used Dublin airport steps
OMG> Like, where did you look? Where did they look? Was anyone staring at you? Seems so awkward!
@@LawnBunny777 it is awkward, very. I try my best to look between heads or out the window. People do stare at you because it’s a new thing for them to have a cabin crew literally seated right next to them
I'll watch any flight reviews you do anywhere. You seem down to earth and are a tall man like me so you're perspective is valuable to me.
I agree 100% Bob. I am 6ft 6 so i love vidoes like these from a taller person.
@@dannycnoble yup I'm 6'8"
@@bobsled3000 I´m 6´8 ft and fly Ryanair sometimes. Both overwing seats and row 1. Cant say the other seats will fit, lol.
Just flew Air France in the back. 1st row behind the exit row on the 321. 2 things 1)seatguru is not up to date. As it said AF had 31 in pitch. Delta has 31 in pitch and i fit fine on them. Which leads to 2) my knees where pushing the seat in front of me forward. I politely asked the FA to let let the guy know i was not doing it on purpose. So AF seat pitch is not 31 any more. Safe to say everyone outsode the US carriers have 28 in seat pitch.
Was about to comment the same. I’m 6ft6 and always pay for the extra leg room. Well worth it if your flight is 2+ hours
Ryanair is absolutely fine. It's cheap 'n cheerful and doesn't pretend to be anything else. You get what you pay for. I'm pretty sure that most of the online hate is based on received wisdom rather than actual experience. As someone who's flown the world in all cabin classes over the last 50 years, I'll also point out that the Ryanair 'hard landing' meme is absolute nonsense.
nah their landings are hard
@@Ayzrito Thank you for your insightful, well argued, and extremely moronic reply.
There is perhaps some truth in it since the landing speed of the 737 is higher than comparable aircraft like the A320. They operate 2400+ flights per day, so some of those landings are bound to be on the rougher side.
Still, a firm landing is a safe landing. Safety is more important than passenger comfort.
Nah, I've flown on Ryanair a fair bit and they are pretty terrible if anything goes wrong. They are absolutely fine if it doesn't, but even minor things going awry is going to cost you.
The point is. It's cheap, it's cheaper than rail and ferry tickets in the UK.
4:11 Can we give a hand to how smooth that landing was?
its actually bad in water weather due to aquaplaning but that was b u t t e r
Ye kinda
@@yoosufanifamily5856 Kinda!? It was awesome
Aer Lingus did that to show the Ryanair customers what they were missing out on ;)
Once you fly Ryanair, Everything else looks smooth
This has to be your best video YET! So cool you flew onboard my favourite B738 as well EI-GSG which I have flown on several times.
I love the fact at 09:54 as you touched down a fellow passenger uttered ''Piekny'' in Polish. In other words, a beautiful landing! 😁
Excellent video mate. I hope you like Europe No.1 Low-Cost-Carrier. And I hope it will remain so for many years to come. Liked.
I really enjoyed this video! It's fun to see comparisons of airlines from different countries.
Man, you deserve soo much more subscribers with this quality and coverage.
So glad your videos came up as a recommendation- great channel. Subscribed
That was awesome!! Relatives always send you back with more then you brought!!
Came across your channel because of my first trip to Canada in June. I really like your style of videos, so I am glad to see some European footage too. To be honest I always found Ryanair was the way to go in Europe. They fly to many destinations that otherwise wouldn’t be reachable (e.g. Mykonos in October 2020 was only served from Ryanair as it comes to western Germany). Sure you don’t get anything fancy, there are delays and some weird customers but nothing I haven’t seen on full service carriers. Fun Fact: Their seats are actually more spacious than those on eurowings - the daughter of Lufthansa
Thank you for this video. I love the fact that you were not expecting an emirates business class experience with Ryanair. I had the same experience with easy jet. Got us to Nice from Paris on time and no issues
i love at e.g. 4:07 how loud the plane sounds are, nice video man!
Loved seeing this trip report. Next time I'm in Poland, I'll have to fly with Ryanair and Wizz from WRO and KTW. Cheers!
Scratch tickets being sold will always amaze, but on the other hand it can't be worse than Frontier handing out credit card applications mid-flight.
hahaha no way hahaha
I am only waiting for the day they start handing out life insurance forms mid flight
Thanks for the review. I will be flying them for the 1st time in June. I was very concerned about the process and this was really helpful.
I’ve flown Ryanair dozens of times. If you follow the rules, it’s a very good airline. Don’t follow the rules and they charge. Print off your own check in ticket or check in on the app. They charge a fortune at airport. Make sure handheld luggage is within the limits. After that you’ll be fine. Safe flight
I always value your trip reports no matter where they are!
Flew round trip to London from Barcelona on Ryanair for €25. Everywhere I went in Europe I never paid more than €120 using Ryanair which was really amazing as an American where a flight to the next city can often be $200. I would go to battle for Ryanair
The price is one thing, its good but dont forget the safety! Ryanair has a clean safety record, not a single deadly crash! Can you imagine? Its basically one of the safest airlines out there. Wouldnt fly with a lot more expensive airline if they have had deadly crashes for example like the 2009 titanic of the skies of air france! Air france i think did see a decrease and distruct of customers after that
From Berlin to scotland you pay 150 One way…
For some reason it feels so dang good to see clips of Dublin Airport on CZcams after being in there so many times.
Awesome video as always!
The food your family members force you to bring reminds me sooo much of my Slovak family. They do the exact same thing to me!
I fly Ryanair almost once every month, no delays, no hassle, no issues just low fares and new discoveries. Love it
Same. I never had any problems.
Same here, I’ve had a delay with Ryanair once, and I think I flew with them about 25-30 times. And the delay was because there was something minor when they checked the plane, probably nothing interesting, but to be safe they arranged another plane. Which I appreciated, they take their checks very seriously
@@gwenx4400 you want delays to avoid crashes. delays are there for you to get to your destination safely. its very good that ryanair did that, they want to remain one of the safest airlines out there without any deadly crashes. other airlines have had deadly crashes precisely because they were not delayed and checked properly
I flew Ryanair from Dublin to Glasgow a few years back. It was so cheap that people would commute between the two cities for work. I had no issues at all with Ryanair, as long as you checked all the pre-flight boxes you had no issues at all. I too chose the exit row being 6'6". I'd definitely scoot across Europe on Ryanair again.
I worked with guys from Glasgow who used to fly weekly for 3 and 4 day shifts in Dublin and could fly weekly because Ryanair was so cheap. They would book as far in advance as they could since they knew a year in advance what shift hours and days they would be working. Many shared accommodation in Dublin ( expensive) with colleagues who worked opposite shifts so to cut costs.
Great to see you flying around Europe 😊
Informative review. Would be neat if you had Mentour Pilot as Captain on one of your flights.
A few years ago I flew with them from Porto to Stansted to meet friends for lunch. Great day out
Back in the 80's before Ryanair, it cost £600 to fly return London-Dublin with BA or Aer Lingus, and that was a lot of money! They have never had a fatal accident, unlike most of the other airlines.
When eventually they have an accident it will be Armageddon
@@henrygingold6549 Lots of airlines have had more than one accident and many of them with fatalities. It hasn't stopped people flying as it is still a very safe form of transport.
@@karhukivi Only one in 6000 planes crashed
@@tiglishnobody8750 You have to define what you are counting. Accidents of all types? The entire world or just Europe? Fatal and non-fatal? During which time period? What sort of aircraft?

Alex, while I can't speak for others. I would love to see reviews for all the flight you do anywhere in the world.

Me too!😀
Rzeszów! I stayed there in during my mission in the late 1970s. A very special place in my heart>
Great video. Thanks.
Ok,that's kinda smooth a little bit
Lucky you it seem to had goodish weather! My UK friends have had so many issue with sked disruptions (both weather, crew issues) lost baggage, missing refunds. So can only talk from 2nd hand knowledge. Used EasyJet quite a bit interEurope, also would get the extra legroom seats! 👍🍻
you know its a great break from all of the canadian aviation.
Thanks Alex from another tall guy. I have flown several times with Ryanair and, like you, it's a very adequate experience. So a low cost carrier, pay for bag, pay for seat, pay for food on board. Air Canada, Westjet, so-called full service airlines, pay for bag, pay for seat, pay for food on board. When is the Canadian traveller going to react to the highway robbery of flying in Canada on full service airlines. Love, Flair looking forward to flying Lynx. It's about time. Thanks again for your videos.
I've flown BHX - DUB and return. The return flight was 35 minutes late taking off, but 5 mins late arriving. FL was 15 thousand feet on the return,
Literally been flying Ryanair my whole life. Flew to Vancouver in a WestJet dreamliner in economy and thought it was unbeliveable :D
I don't think I'd be flying to Poland right now, unless work took me there, however this was a good introduction to a Ryan Air flight. I wonder what flying with them is like " post" pandemic? Thanks Alex.🇺🇸
Ramp boarding ? Barbaric in that weather.
The spot where they took the takeoff footage is where I go to plane spot regularly!!
Kinda cool you flew from Gate 111 cause that's where I flew from just two days ago :)
I fly a lot with Ryanair, mostly London Stansted to Balice Jan Pawla II in Krakow. I can't fault them to be fair, they've always got me there and back (and my luggage) in one piece. I'll be flying with them again in a few weeks, again to Krakow. "Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight".
Excellent video and really good commentary too. I use Ryanair whenever I fly from Ireland, it is unbeatable for value. I do pay the extra for seats around 2 to 5, although a little narrower they are worth the extra cost.
I have never yet been on a Ryanair flight that was late or delayed.
Out of the 4 flights I've had on Ryanair, 2 were delayed, 1 was so late we were compensated and the compensation was actually more than we'd paid for the entire holiday (which was nice) But regardless, I would travel with them again.
amazing landing
I’m Irish and I was on Ryanair Palma to Dublin and it was amazing
Keep posting stuff from all over... I'm Canadian and I like the rest of the world...
It's great that you hit their new seats every time, the older, thicker seats made the experience somewhat more cramped in my opinion. Have they stopped mailing you advertisements already?
Of course Ryanair won’t be a palace or a 5 stars hotel but you can fly all around europe for super cheap, I recently went from toulouse to porto and it was something like 20€ like- you can’t beat Ryanair with those prices! Less expensive than train
I'm over 6 foot tall and have never struggled for leg room on Ryanair and I've done 4 hour flights , East Midlands to Rhodes. Think of it as a bus that goes 500mph and you really cannot go wrong !
Do you realize that ryanair is basically one of the safest airlines out there that you can fly with? That is the main attraction for many to it. Other airlines that are a lot more expensive have had deadly crashes while ryanair unbelievably has a clean safety record. So with which one would you fly? A more expensive one with deadly crashes or a cheaper one like ryanair with a clean record?
I'm 6 foot 3 and I can't really fit in the seats, next time I'm flying Ryanair I'm definitely opting for the emergency rows or the first row
@@phantomflame0658 i'm 6'3" and have no issues with RA seat pitch. Also flying Lufthansa regularly with the EU and don't really see any difference in service, just 3x the price
My god. Those 7 Days croissants bring me back to being a kid in Romania. They’re completely artificial but oh so good.
And now they’re sold in Canada too!!
Awesome video Alex, you’re living the dream!
I will be munching on a few in Krakow in about 4 weeks time! I will tell them you said "Hi". 🤭
So was the landing you shown the hardest? If so, then I don't think that would live up to the meme of hard landings.
Great video though, looking forward to any other videos of Europe in the future.
nothing is better than getting out of your flight on a calm, relaxing night.
I'm flying Ryanair from Lisbon to Toulouse and back. Since my portion for a 2 week trip to Europe is 2k i'm not surprised we are flying low cost but it's only about a 2 hour flight
10\10 landing brilliant landing!
I absolutely love Ryanair. I’ve taken hundreds of flights with them. They’re are punctual, clean, the crews are really friendly and professional. They have totally changed the travel landscape within Europe.
My three Ryanair flights have been, well, not great. One was fine, one had a rather messy cabin, and one was two hours late, and because we booked it last-minute due to a canceled flight it cost over 250€ per person. And flights over two hours should be avoided due to the miserable legroom.
@Graham Cook I have been a frequent business and leisure traveller for the past 40 years.
To go anywhere from the UK into the rest of Europe on the national carriers back in the 1980/90's generally cost £450 unless yo styayed a Saturday night.
Those fare levels have been history since Ryanair (and Easyjet to be fair) came along.
My colleagues at work snobbishly laughed at me flying to Sweden on Ryanair for £30 while they flew SAS/BA for 10 to 15 times as much.
It was not long before the management copped onto that!
I have been able to afford to fly my family over the years to many places that without Ryanairs' presence in the market, I would not have been able to.
You obviously do not like O'Leary, so what, he is outspoken and says things that many governments do not like to hear, but the proof is n the passenger numbers.
@Graham Cook You are the sad bastard, not me.
That’s not true, SAS/BA is not 10-15 times more expensive. Here in Norway, last year the prime minister called out a boycott against ryan and wizz! ✌️ Wizz thought that they could break into the norwegian market without accepting the unions and their rules. They backed off within months.
Only flown Ryanair once but have flown EasyJet 5-6 return trips per year in the past few years (2020/2021 notwithstanding!) - always been very happy with them. Nothing wrong with low cost carriers as long as you have sensible expectations!
Always had issues with Easyjet being late, never had an issue with Ryanair and have to say find seats more comfortable and with more leg room than Easyjet A320's and especially the A319 which is just painful to sit in.
@@soaruk3697 being late or delayed is good, yo dont wanna fly with a broken plane! Ryanair wants to maintain their achievement of being one of the safest airlines out there to fly with with a clean safety record! Not a single deadly crash! Unbelieveble! Delay as much as needed to ensure that the flight will be smooth and safe
Nice video (Ryanair)😍
Good job 👍
I flew them for the first time between Dublin and London and I have to say it was a five star experience. One hour flight, no frills, no BS, on-time, minimal intrusive crew announcements, good landing and cost less than my taxi to the airport!
ive used ryanair many times, always on time and excellent value for €
Ryanair has made me very happy since that's the only way to see my family in Poland,
and that was many times. I'm flying to Poland during the school year since they are a lot cheaper
and I really enjoy it, but I don't personally like the food so my Polish mam and dad pack sandwiches.
But I will say Ryanair is the best airline I have been on!
THAT LANDING WAS NOT BAD!
Flew from the Netherlands to Rome and back the next day for €34 last summer, makes traveling so much more accessible
I been on Ryan air for long it's a good flight the staff is awsome
Great video, Alex. Weird question though, what kind of shoes are those? I like them.
When he’s boarding the plane, you hear a small ringing kinda sound, that’s the battery!
Dude if you also do Tripreports Im going to watch the heck out of them. Like the others Im here for you and your content :D and I like watching Tripreports!
Nice video. I don’t mind the change. What else do you have in the vault?
I don't care about comfort , food and good place to fly. I just wanna see and hear the plane flying. That's all what I need. So Ryanair is perfect for me.
Thank you for the video! Best place for holidays are aircrafts and airports. No need a stupid hotel and beach. :)
That landing @4:12 was buttery smooth!
Lmao
"Died inside a bit when I remembered the exchange rate to Canadian dollars." That hit hard for me haha, I honestly feel you on that when I went to the UK for the first time and saw all the exchange rates on my statement and that shook me good.😂
I agree. I remember converting my CAD to GBP. I had to do a double take on the cash and the teller to make sure she didn't pocket some of my money. It was painful.
Flew on this model but a Tui to Enfidha Tunisia. They are really comfy planes however, the leg room is very tight.
4:14 was butter 🧈
I flew with Ryanair along with my family containing 4 children (2, 10, 15, 18) and two parents. Me and my dad are both about 195cm (6’4) with long legs but the leg room was not a problem for me, and should definitely not be for the majority of people that aren’t giants. Definitely worth it!
Airlines only show how good they are when things go wrong ..
When things go wrong with Ryanair .. gud luck with that ..
well they gave up passengers to Belarus authorities, then again if that was any other airline and the country got fighter planes up and demanded you land... well, do not think it would go differently
What a coincidence i fly from Dublin and Rzeszów too
I'm glad to see that you paid for the extra legroom. There is just no way that you'd fit in a regular seat on a ULCC. I'm only 6'2", and I was very glad that I paid for an exit row on Swoop.
I’m 190 cm, and I’ve never had a problem with any seats other than a CRJ. I guess I sit differently?
Ryanair have better legroom (30” pitch) than British Airways short haul Economy (29” pitch). Beside that, any LCC around the world operating the 737-800 will virtually all have the same cabin seat layout as Ryanair which is 189 passengers seats.
Yay Rzeszów. My first flight ever. Rzeszów-Warszawa. January 1986 LOT Antonov An-24.
I totally agree, very low prices, and will get you there. You literally pay for transport between two places, nothing more (for these reasonably short distances you need nothing more). If you want excessive luxury on your 2hr flight, then go pay for it lol. Good review.
you perfectly summarised what I was thinking and my opinion on Ryanair, and tbh even if the landings are bumpy, even if the service isn't the best, I love Ryanair, since it's so cheap, in any other airlines, I would've had to pay 5-10x more; it's what you pay for and I honestly don't need anything more
@@souls.7033 you forget the safety record! that is the main attraction together with the prices. Hard landings are safe, that is no problem. Ryanair is one of the safest airlines out there that you can fly with an unbelievebly clean safety record. Not a single deadly crash! Can you imagine? If you fly with more expensive airlines you will not get a clean safety record. Air france for example had the titanic of the skies in 2009. After that they lost trust of customers and saw the decrease of them as well
I can relate to the Polish family members part 🤣
I flew with Ryanair once, around 2000. Oslo to Paphos. I will never forget when the Greek pilot AND Irish co-pilot left the cockpit door open and came into cabin to flirt with some female tourists. At the same time! Unless they had a third pilot, they left the plane on autopilot. The pilot seat was empty. Never again
Things before 9/11 were very different, it wasn't even weird to let passengers have a look into the cockpit during flight.
@@pdiaza123 Yep. I remember as a child visiting pilots multiple times and seeing all of the interior. One pilot I met when I was about 8, I drew him a picture of our plane, he sent me a model plane back to my home and it kick started my diecast plane collection!
@@pdiaza123 Yes, I remember those days and got to see the cabin many times with my sister growing up.

Hi! Ryanair's cabin crew based in Dublin here!
Now I wander if I operated a flight you took 😂
Rip that landing at the end
Pretty good landing for Ryanair
Yoooooo the landing is a butter.
You can’t beat them for value
About time... :):):) Already said down below...
Thank you
In my experiences the flights are fine but it's the predatory model around extras that get you and are annoying. But when you get around that and play by the house rules, it's fine again. I always travel light when I go around Europe.
"that get you"
I don't know. I think it's your own fault if you have to pay extra. It's well known that everything costs extra with low-cost airlines. So just pay attention.
I agree, I was changing my ticket to another flight and they wanted to charge me 100 EUR for not checking in a day earlier. I was like but I did check in yesterday for my old ticket that you are swapping for another flight.
I had to give the lady a side eye look like you can't be serious. She realized how silly that was considering she's the one doing the ticket swap and figured a way to waive it.
You`re right about the extras. The increasing luggage charges and the £ 55 pound they now charge to check in at the airport (I don`t know any other airline that charges for this) can add a lot to the basic ticket especially for families going on their annual holiday. Having said that I have flown with them several times and have never had a problem with the flights themselves.
I get on board, I sleep, and then I wake up at the destination. It works out great for me.
I have flown FR on many occasions on the route BVA (Paris) to Dublin . It must be said the prices are generally unbeatable and the departures and arrivals are within a reasonable time frame . I found that the staff were friendly and courteous . My biggest annoyance is the actual booking online . Incessant options and 'clicks' , overwhelming . This should be really tidied up . Essentially you get what you pay for though paying 300-400€ with a legacy carrier for the same flight as opposed to 45€ return with FR is a no brainer . In fact Ryanair has become the default national carrier of many European countries .
Used Ryanair since day one..when they had free flight and only paid the tax !!...had one delay in maybe 50 flights !!
Can you try Easy Jet for your next one ?
One of the ryanair's logic: change of name on the ticket - 115€. New ticket to the same destination at the same time - 90€.
4:16 that landing was butter 🧈
man i watch you when i wait to go in the plane rynair
I've flown Ryanair many times. You get what you pay for, no frills but on time and no problems.
If you want cheap Ryanair is as good as it gets.
That landing was quite rough like all Ryanair flights
