I really hope that I get to see the show at some point. I actually live in Charlotte so I’m bummed that I missed it when it was here. At any rate, thank you for giving June, the attention that she’s a richly deserves . I always feel like she gets the raw end of the deal when you read books about Johnny Cash. She doesn’t get enough credit. It’s always irritating how they paint her as not as pretty as Anita or as talented. What the heck? Anyway, thanks for the reply. Hope you have a good one

      And her daddy's name was Carl. Carl "Mister Country" Smith, the singer and musician. He introduces Mother Maybelle and the Carter sisters in an a lot of the old Opry videos. Carl was one of "most successful male artists during the 1950s, scoring 30 top-10 Billboard hits. His success continued well into the 1970s, when he had a charting single every year but one".

    • @gregkiely4839
      @gregkiely4839 Před 2 lety

      Many thanks for this, Carl was great . And, those old Opry vids are simply brilliant :). Australia had a similar country scene during those times, and many American Artistes were big names here. But, with a much smaller population, nowhere near as big as in American. Thankfully, some of our artistes still repeat the older styles of the 40s and 50s.

    I had no clue this existed. I will find a way to watch it. I believe there should be a movie about The Carter Family. The Original Carter Family. With Miley Cyrus as a young Sara Carter. No I'm not a big Miley fan but Google Miley singing Man of constant sorrow and you'll understand. I believe Miley could also play June but not many people have Sara's voice but Miley does but she can dance so if someone else could sing like Sara then Miley could play June. Of course Reese nailed her once before. Soo... The lead singer of sugarland could probably do Anita and Taylor Swift could do Helen. I'll have to think about AP.. Wait?? Stop the train. I have it. Rob Pattinson could do AP. He's a huge musician. I bet he'd rock the part.
    But that's what we need. A real movie about them with big stars who can act. They deserve to be known. I had no clue any of them ever existed until i found them on CZcams a few years ago. The Carter Family deserves to be remembered...
    Oh and Carlene could do Maybelle.. 🙃

    I’d really love to see a performance of this musical. Is here a way I might be able to purchase a copy of one of the performance? Carlene does a great job of June’s comedy! And of course Carlene’s a fine musician. The actor playing Mother Maybelle is excellent, too.
    So will there be new performances in 2021 or 2022? I’m from NJ via Seattle WA and Arlington VA, and I’ve loved the Carters since I learned about their importance when I started teaching myself guitar in 1970. In his “Folksinger’s Guitar Guide,” Jerry Silverman writes about the Carters for a couple of pages and those were the ones I remember the most from the entire book.
    Best wish from a true fan!
