    Gosh, where are the big crowds and the cheers? For one of the most prestigious events they play all year, these great bowlers get nothing more than a small audience and polite applause? It seems shameful and I think they deserve better. IMHO, something needs to change.....

    Honestly, how hard is it to get commentators who know how to keep score? Saying a match is over when it’s not, constantly being unsure who is leading and by how much or what someone needs in the tenth to win. Not even just this event either. How long has Tom Carter been involved with bowling, 70 years? I know he should be able to do bowling math better than that.

      No doubt.

      Tom Carter definitely knows how to keep score!!! 😁 But they should be keeping score every frame I'm not sure if they can see it or it's to far from them or what, but I think Tom is a great guy and a true gentleman and he's good at commentary because of his knowledge of the game he knows the sport through and through,even with how much equipment has changed and technology and it's always changing from lane oil and patterns to bowling ball surfaces and cores aswell as the actual lanes for the most part have all gone to synthetic instead of wood lanes like they all used to be back in the day.

    • @enigmazero8624
      @enigmazero8624 Před 2 lety

      @@Matt-hv3hi I agree with all of this. Maybe the answer is to have someone sit next to them whose sole responsibility is to watch the score and calculate who is leading and by how much, and near the end of matches what the players need. That person can then feed that information to the announcers. They used to have someone responsible for this in the old days on the shows, generally an active player who didn’t make the show that week and presumably made a few bucks for his time.

      @@enigmazero8624 Even as recently as the 2000s they had scorekeepers.. Mike Edwards was one for a long time back when it was the Denny's tour. Not a lot of money in bowling anymore, though. Certainly not enough to pay human labor, unfortunately.
      Do you bowl? I personally find it pretty easy to do the head math to figure out who's leading/if the match is done but maybe that's just 'cause I was a league bowler...

      @@h1jna936 of course. I’ve been a bowler all my life. That’s why I want them to be more professional with their presentation.

    Had to mute. If I heard the word "Amileto" one more time, I was going to throw an RST-X1 through the TV. You been doing this for how many years and you still can't pronounce his name? Where is there an "i" in Amleto???? So unprofessional. BowlTV is a joke.

      that's just the tip of the iceberg. bowling has only recently begun to have its renaissance period so to speak. so many people have made careers off of confidently spouting bullshit and only now are we finally getting a proper scientific approach to the game that we can begin to dispel said bullshit. this guy still thinks a pin down layout makes a ball stronger, for example. amleto changes balls, he says "he went to a hybrid" as if that means literally anything. the only commentators that are actually any good are the bowlers themselves, particularly the more technically-minded ones. they know what's going on and they're invested so they have to be impartial and learn and take the facts as they come. unfortunately it doesn't matter if people like tom carter don't know anything, they just have to sound like they do to casual viewers.
