The Houlihan loop from April 15, 2020. Our Past President Ross Smith shows how to throw a Houlihan loop with an exercise to use for correct hand placement when throwing.
Best explanation and demonstration yet. Thank you sir, with your teaching I'll be able to learn the houlihan emough to make it useful. God Bless You and yours.
Hello, I´m writing from Colombia, South America. The cowboy ways are very different here, specially in the cattle regions, Orinoquia savannahs. Very wild (if you feel curious, I can send you a link). Just wanted to thank you for the best ever teaching method for the Houlihan. It worked perfectly!. Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Ross is also a ranch roping clinician and created the plate exercise to help folks get the correct movement of the Houlihan. Yes please send a link about your area, that would be great!
Very helpful, thank you! When you are throwing longer distances are you throwing coils with the rope or are you just letting coils run out of your left hand?
I love throwing this loop. I like the way you use the plate to teach it.

Thank you for the great question! I will ask Ross what he does and let you know as soon as possible!
I hope this helps you! For long distance you add coils to the loop and throw the coils with the loop as well as let coils out of your left hand. Ross
