  • Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), There is a growing interest in recirculating aquaculture systems. Commercial scale RAS require substantial investment and high levels of management skill. For these systems to be profitable they often run at high intensity which often translates to high risk. Regardless of the scale of the system, the necessary system processes and components are often similar. Designing a system requires significant planning and should not be taken lightly. This webinar will provide a general overview, component selection options and functions including where and where to integrate specific pieces of equipment into an RAS design.
    Huy Tran, senior biologist and co-owner of Aquatic Equipment & Design, Inc. He has 30 years in the aquaculture industry, as a farm manager to system designer/integrator of RAS. He worked in the aquatic toxicology industry, managed multispecies (29) broodstock and hatchery production, producing aquatic organisms for testing. He has worked on turnkey aquaculture education systems and Aquaponics designs for the Aquatic Eco-Systems catalogs and sale from 1997- 2014. Developed and spearheaded Aquaponic and RAS markets globally for AES.

    I'm really Thankful to you. Being a system designer of RAS . This presentation really helps us to figure out the issues and resolve it. They are plenty of systems designs availabilities but correct design as per considering correlation factors like
    Species
    Density
    Climatic conditions
    Market
    Availability of resources
    Many .... etc. Thank you so much for your valueble time conducting this type of best presentation videos . Please do few more videos to empower our Aquaculture field to next level.
    Special 🤝 Thanks to David cline and Hiu Tran.

    Strange to not see pH as one parameter to be measured continuously.. I would imagine pH should be managed with a pH controller and dosing system to keep it stable..

    In a small cat fish farm if am using ras how many times do I change my pond water

    • @clinedj1
      @clinedj1  Před 2 lety

      Are you recycling pond water through a tank(s)? Most RAS systems are closed loop and not generally open to the environment pond water. To answer your question, it depends..... on the species the stocking levels, the age of the fish and other factors. Some systems are exchanged 4-5 times per hour while others may only be exchanged 6-8 times per day. If you are talking about a significant pond size that would mean moving a LOT of water. There is not one size fits all answer. I would like to contact Huy you can do so through his company web site www.aquaticed.com/

      Very difficult to say. Huy showed examples from many different systems. Drum filters alone cost from $7000 to $70,000 dollars You might find some helpful information at srac.tamu.edu/categories/view/24
