Cosmo Sheldrake: A Polyphonic Wake-up Call | BIOTOPIA SENSE FESTIVAL

With songs from his new album “Wake Up Calls” and improvised pieces, multi-instrumentalist and composer Cosmo Sheldrake draws our attention to the loss of biodiversity. His music consists largely of recordings of the songs of endangered birds. He adds in further natural sounds such as bioelectric recordings of fungal networks and plant root systems and hydrophone recordings of local waterways to create a truly polyphonic performance. Come reflect on the magnificent soundscapes that surround us before many of these voices become extinct!
Cosmo Sheldrake is a multi-instrumentalist musician, composer and producer from London, UK, and has been described as a "musical visionary". His songs "Come Along" and "No. 3" have featured in famous advertisements worldwide and he has provided music for film and theatre. The master looper and vocalist has released albums such as "The Much Much How How and I" and his latest album "Wake Up Calls" comprised of recordings of endangered birds.
The BIOTOPIA festival "SENSE - the Power of Perception" by BIOTOPIA - Naturkundemuseum Bayern explored the sensory world on 1 and 2 October 2022 at Schloss Nymphenburg (Hubertussaal), Botanical Garden Munich, Museum Mensch und Natur and the BIOTOPIA Lab! At the interface of bio- and neuroscience, art and design, the festival allowed visitors to experience the world of perception.
