Oooooh, when u mentioned World Partition I instantly thought that this concept is what u were looking for to tile import more detailed tiles......

Just an FYI, if you want your assets to cast shadows onto the terrain... link the texture sample node to "Base Color", instead of "Emissive Color"

    Very nice!

    simple and nice
I think that would be a starting point so it shows this lowres sat from a distance and shows detailed landscape layers and auto material up close... the nice thing would be to sample the lowres uv color used a some location to apply the correct layer, I'm not sure if creating masks on the fly is a good efficient practice, but that could lead to consistent material in the end, what do you think ?

Yeah I think that would be nice. Not sure how to do it but I can see it as a nice feature.

large maps with high resolution textures can be import from infraworks. Only these will be static meshes (((

The best way to get better detail on the satellite image is to "download" smaller close ups of it, then you have to stitch them together to one image. But then they might not come in the same resolution need to match the heightmap?! There is a tool for Qgis called game terrain that could do that. You can import the terrain as GEOTiff, then lay the satellite image on top if you have a API that lets you add the highres one to Qgis. Then export with game terrain for UE as tiled export with the highest zoom level...
It is not always possible to get it better, but with some tiling magic you can get good results...

Never seen that way of setting up UV for texture before. I always hook up a Landscape layer coord to the texture UV input, then input the resolution there. In this case 2017...

Yeah isn't that what I am doing using Coords and inputing the landscape size? If you have a better way please share, ty.

How is the DTM/DEM heightdata quality of this plugin for unreal compared to Landscaping mapbox plugin?
Or is it just the data set used that differences in terms of quality/resolution?
In landscaping mapbox plugin the max zoom is set to 14. So i don't feel that it is able to get DTM data that is 1m or any better then 10m on the most.

How would uprez these textures? Would you use a landscape material or paint the x tire on top of it

With the new map app you can override the zoom level for sat try level 14. The problem is that it does not match the landscape size so getting it to align correctly is an issue I am looking into. map.justgeektechs.com/

This is just what I need, thanks. Q: Does this work in UE 5.1? I have been having a hard time getting the MAPBOX plugin to compile in 5.1

    • @danielelebash3781
      @danielelebash3781  Před rokem

Yeah, I will release a compiled version for 5.1 soon.

@@danielelebash3781 YOU ROCK! Thanks Daniel. I am teaching myself UE5 for a personal art project just for fun. There is a British painter called Peter Brook who painted winter scenes in Yorkshire where I grew up (I live in Detroit now) and I am building a super mellow, walking game in VR where you walk (not run) around with your sidekick sheepdog and frame up the paintings. It's a lot to learn but I think I can make it happen. www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&sxsrf=AJOqlzVrz4VXAqAk5mBNB_zwDR1Lx4-i8A:1675205078649&q=peter+brook+paintings&tbm=isch&source=univ&fir=DlPSK3QsBGOtNM%252C_Co95clxrnKnzM%252C_%253BHqCmsmg1F9vG_M%252CMnEbr1YkwC6-1M%252C_%253B0aL-HZqJc1nHbM%252CS8WcH0EnGwuM9M%252C_%253BhTMqfE1d06MwsM%252CQnWTlF6Nz7tB1M%252C_%253BNpkYdxfkId0Z1M%252CjRbts8fCjYcr4M%252C_%253Boal8YZ9HmuPZbM%252CQJRvPCFq0B3f3M%252C_&usg=AI4_-kSjs0OXLGlts5DZ6rzAmkQczcClEQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwic6I2d8fL8AhXbkYkEHUirCVAQjJkEegQICRAC&biw=1437&bih=779&dpr=2#imgrc=UZsPaHEmzZnjTM

Your plugin enables me to make this hyper real with the actual locations. AS the scenes are all winter I want the Satellite image so I can more easily scout the locations and build the appropriate detail. Its easy to get lost in the terrain without the satellite image
