Ana, Hero 22 and mother of Pharah, was the first new character added to the game in the months following the launch of Overwatch in 2016.
With a plethora of DPS heroes and to a lesser degree Tanks, Blizzard knew that they needed another Support in the game.
Originally an "Alchemist" themed character, several iterations later brought us the Ana we know today, a sharpshooting support healer with strong CC, a potent ally buff and the game's only source of anti-healing.
In today's video, we cover the competitive history of Ana through the various metas that have come and gone over the years in order to gain a better appreciation for one of Overwatch's most unique and beloved heroes.

Sombra would be perfect, as she's been through a lot of changes since her release. And she's always been that meta pick yet people didn't know how to use her in ladder.

I LOVE this idea of a series! God, everytime I'm blown away by the quality of your videos, even if they may take some time, they're ALWAYS worth the wait! I think Reinhardt/Winston might be cool, both haven't received a tremendous amount of changes relatively speaking, yet they've both defined so many metas.

What about the brief rise of Quad Tank, where Anas nanoed Reinhardts into each other every team fight - which led to the almost immediate nerf to all ultimate charge rates ?

It was very detailed at the beginning. But then half way through the video it feels like who ever made it felt tired and skipping important updates and events related to Ana. The video didn't feel complete.
I think it is because Ana's usage dropped a lot so there wasn't as much notable stuff to talk about. I do agree tho

I can already say that Ana is vital in the 2-2-2. If you have Pharmercy, you need an Ana that can heal the rest of the team fast.
When Ana is scoped in, you can see a silhouette of a head.
Great video just imo you forgot to mention how dominant rogue has been during dive meta with unkoe that was really dominant on ana

As for competitive history, any chance you would consider doing Lucio? It probably is kind of an odd one to look at, but there has been times, even briefly, where he wasn't picked 95%+. It would be nice to have an insight as to what brought him to be benched then :).

In Shanghai v San Fran, Ana was used in almost every team comp, along with sombra and pharah-mercy.
Noah Pasternack Luffy was absolutely insane, especially vs Vancouver in the semis, he even got player of the match
D. Va only needed those buffs because she had been nerfed too hard early on. I had a 64 kill game with D.Va before they changed her the first time.

Another reason dive became meta was Dvas matrix lost the minimum travel distance before a proj could be eaten, nulifying reaper and mccree
Pretty sure it was Ninja's in Pajamas who created the triple tank triple support comp first, and then everyone copied them. Also, what led to the collapse of the 3/3 comp was the nerfs to Ana and Roadhog. Roadhog got his hook and damaged nerfed, so he couldn't get those combo kills anymore. Combined, the 3/3 comp didn't have enough offense to compete with the all offensive dive comp.
You said the magazine size started at 8, but the footage right after clearly shows her max ammo as 6. What's that about?

Ana really fractured the E-Sports of Overwatch. She’s like the inverse of Pharah on console. So whenever she’s been meta it causes a divide between console and PC players.

How was Ana's healing output "to as high as the other supports in the game" ? The other supports in question were mercy, lucio, zen and symmetra.

why does Ana only have 6 shots? it was just stated she launched with 8 and was soon buffed to 10.
You can say whatever you want but the Ana meta was by far more enjoyable to play/watch than the moth or goats meta. At least for me.
