I was in a marriage that had the same symptoms as you described in yours. I am a Christian and was determined to keep my marriage intact. Your are right, same happened to me- fighting tooth and nail for my marriage until I had no chance- and also got sick- not to that extent, but I can testify that this is true! emotional/mental turmoil can manifest into physical ailment

What frustrates me is that doctors just want to follow textbook cases, and when you don't meet those exact criteria, they eliminate that possibility causes diagnoses to happen years later or even misdiagnosed. This happened to me for 4 years before finally getting my Hashimotos diagnosis. Every doctor just told me it's anxiety, but I had to actually do research myself. I tracked every symptom and issue and finally had a doctor listen. I've since then been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, hypothyroidism, psoriasis, and solar urticaria. I've been suspecting I've had lupus, but all my labs show otherwise. I hate literally praying for a diagnosis just to prove I'm not crazy and that something is wrong. I'm miserable most days, and I just want to feel better, and having to beg doctors for answers is so demoralizing.
Brittany…your story mirrors mine EXACTLY, accept I’d been going to doctor after doctor for over 8 years. Hashimoto’s almost killed me before they finally acknowledged I had it and the only option was to remove my thyroid. Now I’m on the same roller coaster ride, doctor after doctor, major symptom after major symptom, my life totally disrupted, with so many doctors saying “sounds like Lupus” but negative ANA so it can’t be 😣. So…even though they can SEE my symptoms and my blood work shows things are off…I get treated like I’m attention seeking and crazy. I’m so fatigued, tired of hurting, sick of being sick…and still no diagnosis or help!

Young, pretty women are very often dismissed as being anxious, hysterical or under stress instead of doctors actually taking them serious. There's a long history of this mistreatment and is a systemic issue in medicine. I'm glad that they kept running tests on you. My mom's best friend has lupus. It has caused her a lot of joint issues over the years and has some of the more serious issues with it now.
I have experienced this very thing.
Young bright & attractive women are also often misdiagnosed as being depressed and prescribed antidepressants instead of getting their Thyroid or hormones checked.
Hashimoto's is so under diagnosed and overlooked but on the rise in the past decade.
Hormone levels need to be checked in women as young as 30 these days as more and more women are going into early onset perimenopause and early onset menopause or medically induced menopause.
Hopefully more doctors will become more proactive and aware than reactive and dismissive.

Getting Covid really made things worse. Having a good attitude and knowing it will pass is helpful. I enjoy every good day! Reducing stress and eating well makes a big difference. Great summary of this complex disease. I’ve had SLE for 17 years and am currently in my 6th year of chemo to suppress my overactive immune system. I think it’s essential that you tell yourself daily that you are going to continue to live a full and normal life. Not optional. The mind is so powerful that it can convince the body. WOW! My so grateful you made this video! I went back to your old Vogs and found where you missed the phone from your dr saying you had it but couldn’t find a follow up video about it.
My sister developed SLE in her senior year of pharmacy college. She and her boyfriend were very serious, talked of opening a pharmacy together, planned their life. And one day, right before their senior (5th) year of college, he dumped her. No reason but "I just don't think I really love you." Huh. Well, they had planned all their classes together, etc. and my sister had to endure seeing him every day for that whole last year. To say she was stressed was an understatement, but my family and I are certain that stress caused her lupus to start. So, Michel, yes, I truly believe your bad marriage was your trigger. It's amazing what happens to a body under such extreme stress. And I will pass along something else we found out with my sister's lupus- she passed it on to her daughter. My sister did find love and got married and waited until she was off of meds and everything was good for her health before getting pregnant. But the pregnancy took its toll on her health and she was bedridden for the last 2 months of her pregnancy. Her daughter was a preemie (3 lbs.!) but thrived until she turned 13, and then developed the same symptoms as my sister. It was devastating. My niece is now 37 and deals daily with her symptoms, fatigue being the most prevalent. We don't know how long my sister would have survived with SLE, as she was killed in a car accident on the way to Philadelphia for a lupus doctor visit for my niece. But her RA and kidney damage from SLE had taken such a toll on her by that point. She was only 47.
I wish you healing and strength as you go through your lupus journey. As I tell my niece, take care of yourself, rest, try to keep big stressors at bay, and hopefully, you can live with lupus! 🧡🧡
I'm so sorry for your loss. I also lost my sister in a tragic way, she was hiking in the mountains, slipped and fell off a cliff. She was only 41. The traumatic grief I felt losing my sister was unbearable.

I have SLE as well, and got diagnosed at 21 too. You've got this! You're doing all the right things. I personally treat my lupus with Plaquenil, Gabapentin for neuropathy pain, meloxicam for swelling. If I go into a bad flare up, I take prendisone (warning this does effect your mental state, I get pretty anxious on it, so consider taking a half a pack if you can instead of full!). The most helpful piece of advice I could give anyone with SLE is to rest when you need to! And create boundaries to keep your stress low. Life is too precious to be hurting so much! Hugs to all the lupus warriors out there!

Thank you for making this video. I have a couple autoimmune conditions and I'm getting a biopsy for Sjögrens soon.. I was concerned because I didn't have a positive blood test (I have several clinical symptoms so my Drs want me to have a biopsy) but after learning that the biopsy can be the deciding factor as in your experiences I feel a lot of relief that I won't be going under anesthesia & taking the risk for nothing.

Thank you for talking about your journey to diagnosis. It makes total sense to me now with what has been going on with me. I recently got some blood work done and one of the tests came back suggesting lupus. As I listen to your story everything that has been going on with me throughout the years now makes sense. My old doctor just kept saying oh its this or it is that but never did the test for lupus. Funny that I wondering if it was arthritis in a joint now that I am older and my new doctor runs this new test that came back positive for possible lupus. I just want to let you know that you are amazing for putting this video out here so other people can learn about lupus and the different symptoms it may cause.
I just recently (one month ago) started oral chemo for Lupus, Late Stage Lyme and Sjogren's. It's kind of wreaking havoc. I don't know yet whether it's going to help. God, I hope so! I don't want this to be in vain. I'm miserable with and without the meds. The jury is still out.

Sarah, I pray the oral chemo helps you. About 40 years ago when chemo was first being used to suppress the immune system, I took it via IV off and on over a period of 10 years. Then I received oral chemo for the next 17 years. I went to a clinic for the IV treatments where I was the only one who did not have cancer (Lupus had caused inflammation of the blood vessels in my brain.) My heart went out to those other extremely sick people. I was getting a much milder dose than the others. I lost some hair but it was not noticeable, and I had no nausea. I just had extreme fatigue. While I sat there with the toxic chemicals going into my veins, I would pray, meditate, do deep breathing exercises, and repeat affirmations silently. I think my positive frame of mine helped me more than anything else. By the time I started the oral treatment, my body was so use to stronger chemicals that I had no bad side effects. I encourage you to stay positive so you don’t stress out, stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, do some form of exercise (I walk), and eat healthy. I am praying for you. (A happy side effect for me from the IV treatments: I lost all the hair from my underarms and it never grew back!)

@@MichelJanse thanks, love! This life of illnesses, as you well know, is difficult. It makes it a bit easier, when we know that we aren't alone. I'm not saying that I want anyone else to be sick. I'm just glad there is someone in the world that understands.
Btw... you are SO right about the Raynaud's! I have cried many nights from my fingers and toes burning from being so cold. I have discovered, though, that heated gloves or hand warmers inside of gloves/socks really helps with my hands and feet. Maybe it would help you also. It's worth a shot.
Do you have the opposite problem with your hands/feet getting too hot? I do. One symptom that my doctors can't figure out is that my hands will get so hot that we can literally watch blisters forming. I have to put my hands under cold water to stop the blisters from bursting. We don't understand it.

Anyway, the main points were...
I've been on blood thinners for 13 years. It made me lose all of the hair on my legs. I'm definitely not mad about that. lol
I'm typically pretty positive. Monday is my chemo day. So I was pretty miserable while writing my original post. I try to maintain a fun and loving household for my children. They understand that I'm sick and that some days I can't be fun or have much noise in the house On most days, though, we're usually goofing around a lot. I just want them to have good memories of their childhoods. This isn't easy, though. I'm in pain ALL of the time. The hydroxychloroquine, gabapentin and hydrocodone help some. My pain level goes down, but I'm never out of pain. I refuse to allow it to take my life, though.
God is my strength. My help comes from Him.

I had same symptoms and really painful cough and rashes so thats when i found your yt like in the starting of my health journey and it was so helpful for me with you sharing everything without filter :), but just over a half year ago after like many missdiagnosted with so many things even including TB and finally they found out i have stage 3 sarcoidosis ( it is also an autoimmune disease)

I also have Lupus, Sjogrens , OA and Osteoporosis I've been on Plaquinal and get Benlysta infusions every month for the last 10 yrs I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone it's a constant battle everyday but I'm a mother and grandmother and will keep going for my family

Hi I’m so glad you got a diagnosis. My doctors have just basically blow me off for the past 12 years since my SLE test is negative but my ANA is positive and speckled. I have the same nail thing if I grow my nails out but they don’t lift off the nail bed. I have the lupus butterfly on my face that started out small and now takes up my nose and cheeks. I have horrible flares and moderate amounts of blood in my urine but thankfully no huge kidney damage. I had an amazing doctor at one point at Duke that put me to n plaquenil for years and it helped!! My doctor left Duke and my new doctor took me off my meds after years. The worst part about that was I had cervical spine surgery and my symptoms are now so severe in my nervous system it’s unbearable. My pain is so bad throughout my body with nerve pain from all my nervous systems. I’m on meds and it does help until I’m flaring. Then the pain immobilizes me. I pray one day I will get a proper diagnosis but after all this time I’m doubtful. Mine started with my lungs in my childhood also. I had lung infections all the time. I also had stomach problems so I was little. I’m gluten intolerant since my blood celiac test was negative. Lupus sucks. I’ve also been told I have Multiple Sclerosis. I’ve been told by my doctor and my neuro ophthalmologist the I had Sjorgen’s Syndrome. My biopsy showed nothing. My blood only had a few antibodies and not enough for a positive test. I continue to move forward everyday but it gets physical hard a lot now without my plaquenil. I’ve been trying for the past 3 years to get into a Rheumatologist in my area with no luck. They stay so busy and they tell me I’m not a first priority. 😢

Thank you for sharing your story! I am a FNP student and I am so shocked to hear your ANA was negative! One of the big things we learn about Lupus is that an ANA is extremely sensitive for lupus -- meaning that if the test comes back negative you can be close to 100% guaranteed that someone does not have lupus, but it is not very specific -- meaning that if the ANA was positive it does not confirm Lupus on it's own. I'm sorry you didn't get the treatment you needed in time! Your video is a good reminder to "treat the patient not the numbers", you definitely had classic Lupus/autoimmune symptoms.
A lot of times people with Lupus will only have a positive ANA during a flare when they have more inflammation. My mom had Lupus, one of my best friends has it, and they suspect that I may have it as well and we have all had several positive and negative ANA tests.
I was just diagnosed with lupus. I’m seeing a kidney doc tomorrow to see if there is organ involvement. My stressful job definitely triggered it but my mom has lupus. I’ve been feeling pretty lonely so this video was very helpful!!

I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus back in 2017. Not until 2023 I started seeing my nail bed lift too! And my nails are very brittle/paper thin. Thank you for posting this! I was officially diagnosed with Lupus within an hour of you posting this video. We are close in age (I'm 23), and it has been difficult feeling this bad at my age. I'm in my mid 30s. I didn't start getting my symptoms taken seriously until 2 years ago. It's VERY hard to find the right medical team. But once you do, you finally start getting answers. And answers are worth the work.
I too was told by everyone my whole life nothing was wrong with me, I was being overly dramatic, I was trying to get attention, I was just a wimp, I was trying to get out of doing stuff I didn't like, there was nothing wrong with me.... even in my 20s I was being told this.
I still don't have all my answers but I have meds that treat a lot of my symptoms, a few diagnosis, and a better quality of life, even though it's still not equal to that of normal peoples. But if you don't try, nothing changes. And I needed things to change.

It’s honestly kind of eerie that your video shows up on my feed and we have so much in common medically lol. I grew up with pretty severe asthma, then celiac disease, and autonomic nervous system issues-including Raynaud’s. A few years ago I was on a blood pressure medication that caused drug induced lupus. It was very painful. But after a year of being off it my symptoms subsided. Like you I have had a lot of health issues in my life and a very unhealthy marriage. My husband asked me for a divorce in December, but therapy and my church family is helping! You're faith and wisdom has been a huge encouragement for me ❤

After reading your post I think my body also has drug induced lupus.
I was on medicine for my thyroid Levethiroxine and when the doctor changed the medicine to Synthroid my nails got better. My bloodwork also came back negative.

I've had a very similar experience and continue to not know what's going on. I also am negative on blood work and it makes everything so challenging. I'm currently diagnosed as seronegative rheumatoid arthritis but it's kind of just a place holder. It's really hard not to feel crazy most of the time. Like you I have had strange symptoms since I was a child including Raynaud's, random rashes, debilitating joint pain and fatigue etc. I actually have decided to change my career path and am applying to medical school with the hopes of becoming a Rheumatologist because I feel my own experience would be really valuable as a practitioner. Both my mum and sister have lupus (which lends to the studies that it’s genetic) with chronic migraines and severe joint pain as their main symptoms. I’ve just been diagnosed with Sjögren s Syndrome so while different to Lupus still auto immune and makes a lot of sense now. The joint pain and fatigue are challenging and exercise is the best way to manage it. The dry eyes and mouth also need constant attention. Great to listen Michel as rest, being kind, calm and managing stress are the key to feeling better

I have often wondered if my 7 year old daughter may be having some issues because she complains about her tummy hurting quite often. I really hope that you are able to get it under control enough to never have anymore symptoms. Especially the fingernail thing. That sounds horrible. Love you!
FYI: as you age, lupus tends to become less active and periods of remission last longer until you will eventually have few to no flares.
Pretty sure this has something to do with diminishing hormone levels, my hormones effect my Lupus flares.
I’m not usually one to leave comments but this really spoke to me. I’ve had discoid lupus for 20 years, I was diagnosed when I was 10 yrs old. Your diagnosis story was really similar to mine. Having dealt with this for so long, I have to undergo the same treatment and lifestyle restrictions. My daughter is 14 years old and she has lupus .she was diagnosed when she was 11 years old . currently she is going through flare . every time she is asking same question why I am ? Why I have this.I am trying to explain her but it is very difficult. My elder sister also has lupus and she got paralyse attack too. So seeing all these my daughter is very much scared. I also try to motivate her. We are Hindus so we have certain songs(Bhajan) .i make her to lesson that and get positivity.In India there are some ayurvedic centers who says that we will cure these , but I can't trust

Michel, and anyone else suffering from Lupus, I'm so sorry for the frustration and despair that comes along with a diagnosis like this....and pray wholeheartedly that you find healing.
This is 100% not trying to push anything (and certainly not selling anything), but I have to share a little of my story and findings to hopefully help at least one person gave the results and peace that I have.
I'm an autistic female and a little known fact is that due to autism a lot of us have comorbidities that are the bigger issue for us than anything autism could ever throw at our life.
Me personally: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Postular Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). THESE ALL deal heavily in inflammation as well as their larger attacks (EDS for example means that my body makes faulty collagen - bones are constantly popping out of place or dislocating, etc. This also leads to me activating the other illnesses when I'm injured for this massive cyclic sickness that had left me bedridden for about two years).
Then comes the out of this world anxiety *and technically I also have OCD - but mine is constantly looking for WHY I'm anxious...and then that leads to depression.
Straight to the point now that the preamble is out of the way: Carnivore Diet got me 70% healed - but Lion's Diet 'cured' me (there are no cures but when all of your symptoms go away how do you not shout 'I'm CURED!' everywhere you go?).
Honestly, these diets are not for the faint of heart - it sucks getting used to the idea of having to essentially give up all food but ruminate animals for long stretches....but you go through enough testing and asking yourself is it really the food enough that you realize many of the foods we eat are the problem.
Literally every symptom for me goes away but the question of can I have that food...😅 But this year I've accepted the change and that this diet gives all of this in spades:
Clears up a massive amount of symptoms in tons of different conditions.
Amps up happy and kills anxiety (I have never in my life felt this calm and energetic naturally).
Improves sleep.
Improves digestion.
If you do it right you'll lose a nice bit of weight and gain muscle easily (yes, there's wrong ways of doing this diet, as easy as it is).
Improves focus and cognition exponentially.
Fountain of Freaking Youth - go look up 'Carnivore Faces'...the anti-aging benefits that come with anti-inflammatory eating are phenomenal.
My favorite CZcams personalities to find a wealth of information about any single question I have are Dr. Ken Berry (many of the proponents of the diet are doctors - they feel guilty now that they know how much pharmaceutical companies have more often hurt than helped people, and being in league with them for years...zero judgment from me, just passing along their sentiments) and Kelly Hogan. I also have MCAS & EDS……& SIBO. The only thing to help me has been going on a very strict diet of organic grass feed grass finished meat. I does suck not to eat sugar & drink wine but I actually am feeling better.

I was diagnosed with Lupus in 1998, partially because of a positive ANA. Since then I have been told I do not have Lupus because my ANA is negative, so they took me off of plaquinel. I have fought the last 2 years to try and get help. I also have Hashimoto’s, Fibromyalgia, and now they are looking at MS. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
