I agree with you, I loved both songs but this one has stayed stuck with me. Unfortunately, lots of people have criticized this song and wanted her to change it and even though she did, she was still criticized.

This actually wasn’t a bad song at all.
It would have stood some chance of qualifying.
But “I am what I am” was too typical and X factor-ish to ever manage to qualify.
She would have been better off sticking with this song
@@cultfiction3865 I personally liked both songs and don't consider the song she changed to "bad", but of course, everyone is different. I also liked this more than the other one because this one has stayed stuck in my head for a while and I also agree that it might have had more chance of qualifying. Some people preferred her original song while others preferred the other... soo it's hard to please everyone.

The chord progressions and musical variability are much better in this song.
The new song relied on a commonly used 4 chord progression and sounded more generic than “out of sight.”
The first thing I ever noticed with “The am what I am” is that the opening piano part is almost identical to the way Michael Rice opened with “bigger than us” in Eurovision 2019 for U.K. which finished in last place.
So for me it felt a lot like a bad omen the moment I noticed that.
But in a way she gets what she deserves for not having faith in the song that won it for her and listening to those online that don’t have her interests at heart.
I know she definitely upset a few people when she changed it who felt it was a form of cheating

I know many people don't think much about this but I love it so much. It's an earworm and I just can't have it out of my mind and I just love the old vibe of it. It's so groovy and smooth and her vocals are just so good.

If Emma Muscat had agreed to compete with the song "Out of sight", I am sure she would have had more chances to qualify but unfortunately she made a big mistake by following her fans' and other people's advice in order to change the song. Emma Muscat is really a perfect singer but unfortunately her fans did her harm by asking her to change the song.. If her fans had really liked her, they would not have asked Emma Muscat to make such a risky decision. Unfortunately no one could not appreciate the value of the song "Out of Sight". No one could understand that "Out of Sight" was better and a more different song than "I am what I am".I will never forgive her fans.
You are right. This was a much better song than “ I am what I am” which never really felt like it suited her.
She shouldn’t pay too much attention to fans because sometimes they want people to crash and burn.

In its day X factor was seen as quality but it’s slowly become a dated commodity in music.

This is a much better song than a lot of people are giving it credit for being. I don't think it needs a revamp, since it works as-is. How it does in Eurovision is anybody's guess at this point, of course.

Malta should undergo a close examination over its rules once again. A country can change its song if there is a serious problem such as inappropriate or threatening words being involved in the song. Many people voted for the song "out of sight". Suppose that Emma Muscat participated in the national selection with the song "I am what I am". Maybe another song in the national selection would rank higher than "I am what I am" . Thus, by changing the song, Malta caused an unfairness among the other contestants of national selection. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. The issue regarding the suitability or insuitability of the song for the Eurovision Song Contest was something that should have been considered earlier before the national selection.

Although I don't personally feel there's a huge gap in favour of this song compared to the new one, it's sad that the selection process is undermined in this fashion. Unfortunately, it often happens that whatever song wins in Malta is afterwards dismissed and ridiculed. "Fel låt vann" (Swedish term) taken to the extreme. It seems the pressure got too intense to handle this time and it makes me sad.

Edit: when she decided to change her song for Eurovision I was devastated naturally. She would've been in my top 3 with this song and I would've voted for her in the semi. This song feels personal, authentic and simply beautiful, whereas "I am what I am" felt generic even though it was not bad. I know her choice of changing the song came from a good place (she was aware of the negative feedback this song received), but in the end, I think it was a wrong choice. Objectively speaking, I don't think "Out of sight" would have made it to the finals either, but it could have done better because juries would have appreciated it much more than "I am what I am"
