I’m shocked that so many of the reactors don’t know who Placido Domingo is. This isn’t a criticism just an observation. I guess younger people just aren’t exposed to this genre of music. Even so, Placido Domingo has been considered one the greatest tenors of our time. It takes Dimash to introduce this amazing performer to the younger set.

This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo and he dreamed of meeting and working with him. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal. We are so proud of Dimash and hope that all his dreams come true.

Glad to see you again, Sabina. Dimash was a member of the panel of judges, Placido Domingo was the head. That was just a special number. Domingo was excited in meeting Dimash, and when they finally met, the former invited Dimash for a duet. According to Domingo, his grandson, who happened to be a drummer, discovered Dimash.

Placido Domingo was one of the Three Tenors in 1990s also including Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras. They were fantastic! Dimash had only one day to prepare for this duet which was sung in French! I thought he was fabulous! Dimash voice always has this soaring feeling to me shown so well here.

Lo mas impresionante de esto es que Dimash estuvo 24 horas antes enfermo con bastante tos y solo tuvo 24 horas para aprenderse esta canción en un idioma que no habla. ya que en un principio placido domingo no lo había invitado a cantar con el y lo decidió a ultima hora el invitarlo, increíble lo de Dimash.

Dear Sabina, nice to see you again with Dimash! I LOVE Dimash's classical tenor voice so much, and it seems so easy for him to sing this difficult part, he sounds light and bright and open, although I think he wasn't very well and sang with a sore throat. And yes, he was soo honored to sing together with his all time idol, so I guess Dimash was much more excited and nervous (and therefore serious) than Domingo - look how relaxed, how incredibly experienced Domingo acted here! (He was in my opinion the best tenor on stage in operas, he can really act on stage, while Pavarotti is for me maybe the most incredible tenor voice, but better in concerts than in operas....) Domingo and Dimash were so connected, they are even synchronized in their movements, aligned with each other, and Domingo gives Dimash the lead, especially in the ending you can see that he follows Dimash - incredible. The more often I listen to this beautiful performance the more I cry with joy and emotion. A VERY special moment for Dimash - I'm so happy for him! And the song is about two fishermen who nearly dropped their deep friendship because they fell in love with the same woman - but here, in this duet, they return to their friendship and love for each other - and you can feel it! There are not many duets for men like this - baritone and tenor - with deep affection for each other. It was Domingos idea, the duet and the aria, and how beautifully fitting is that! .... Okay, I stop here, I just LOVE it so much! I love them both so much! Thank you, Sabina, hope to see you soon!

Dimash told Placido that he has a cassette tape of him when Dimash was 5, and he dreamed since then of getting to sing with him. So 25 years later, Dimash's dream comes true, after all that work and study and inspiration.
You might not know this, but in the 1980s and 90s, Placido had quite a rivalry with another of Dimash's heroes, Luciano Pavarotti. They were two of the most famous and in demand tenors of the time, and their rivalry stemmed from their competition for roles. (Placido does not sing tenor now, but rather the baritone, due to his age.) Well, both Domingo and Pavarotti were friends with another in-demand tenor, Jose Carreras. Carreras wanted them to stop their rivalry because there were roles for all of them. And then Carreras came down with lieukemia, and for awhile there was great worry he would not survive it.
But he did! And after he was well again, he asked Placido and Luciano to join him in a concert, where they would all sing together. I remember this very well because I watched the concert on the TV. So many loved Carreras, and Domingo, and Pavarotti--and they could not turn down their friend who had beaten cancer. They were billed as The Three Tenors. And they were magnificent. This concert led the two fueding Maestros to set aside their fued and become friends, and all three did several other concerts together.
The only one left for Dimash to be able to sing with was Placido Domingo, and his 18 year old grandson told him about Dimash, so he listened to him and invited him to be on the judging panel of this season of Virtuosos. When he first met Dimash, he told him how he came to know of him, and he wanted to do a duet with him!!! Dimash, ever humble, admitted how he had dreamed of this since he was 5. Domingo was touched and they created the duet in only two days. Beautiful. A gift forever to the world.
There is a 50 seconds video where Dimash explains this was a dream come true. This performance was with a classic music competition called Virtuosos where young people perform for a 8 head jury of which Placido and Dimash were a part from.

It's a duet with Plácido Domingo from George Bizet's Opera "The Pearl Fishers". In the opera world he is a legend. He sang together with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras. I don't know if you've ever heard of „The Three Tenors“. A few days ago Plácido Domingo's had his 83rd birthday. He and Dimash were judges in a talent-show for young classical talents in Budapest, Hungary. And in this show one of his biggest dreams came true with this duet

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!
