  • Here’s a video of me using me 80w co2 laser w/ultimate air assist it’s pushing 15psi out the nozzle!!
    And also cutting with no air assist and roughly pushing out what the stock air pump that came with the unit does!
    What a difference!!!

    Great video, how are you able to have a lower Psi for engraving and then automatically bump up Psi to say 15 when cutting automatically?

      Hi josh, I have the ultimate air assist hooked up to my machine running off an air compressor there is a solenoid that controls the air pressure so i can have it set at a minimum/off for engraving and then in Lightburn when I set up the job if I select air on it will automatically turn the air on when it does that layer and I have my regulator set to 15psi I do also have a video on installing the air assist hope this helps mate, thanks for watching cheers, Matt

    Hello, I am researching laser engraving machines. Is the air assist blowing or is it vacuuming and drawing air?

    • @woodendayz
      @woodendayz  Před rokem

      Hey, the air assist is blowing air,
      the idea is it helps with cutting materials as it blows the char and also helps from leaving a burn or staining look when cutting through timber materials.
      Thanks for watching, Matt

    Hello, good lesson btw. I have the same laser but struggle with light burn software. It means the start button does not work and also saving the file, get an error when upload - smth like an invalid file. Sending directly to the laser, get en error too - like three beeps and nothing more. Searching for any help - will be appreciated!

      Hi 👋🏽 yeh that’s weird is it only with lightburn or RD Works too? Is the laptop plugged into the USB on the laser? I Import svg or dxf files into Lightburn and click send when want them to go to the machine,
      Maybe see if you can save them to a USB and put that into the UDisk slot in the laser and copy to the controller

    Just to confirm. The no air assist was technically the stock air assist compared to your ultimate air assist? Or was there actually zero air assist?

    • @woodendayz
      @woodendayz  Před rokem +1

      Hi josh, yeh that’s correct the air that’s comming out in the no air assist is about the same amount of air that comes out the stock air pump that these machines come with so there’s a huge difference between using the upgraded air assist compared to the stock one! Cheers Matt

    • @woodendayz

      It’s the ultimate air assist from cloud ray laser I purchased mine from Amazon and the air pressure regulator from eBay
      Cloudray Ultimate Air Assist Set for CO2 Laser Engraving and Marking Machine amzn.asia/d/0y6CxMi
      www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-4-Air-Compressor-Moisture-Water-Trap-Filter-Regulator-Separator-Mount-135PSI-/303968836950?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0
      You’ll just need to also have an air compressor I use one with a 50L seems to do the job pretty good

    I’ve done a test like yours with air assist I get marks no air cuts brilliant how can this be
    Thank you

      Try using some masking tape to mask before you cut then in all tests always cuts better with air assist on

      @@woodendayz yes I’ve used masking tape with air with great results, I bought a cloudRay 60/80w 1250 tube I cut out at 30ms 45 power at 10Ma probably one of the best tubes I’ve bought next going to sort the air assist out

      @martin 30ms that’s pretty quick I do 15ms 40% 3mm mdf or plywood iv recently aligned my mirrors better but yet to do more tests to see what power and speeds cut best

      Hi Martin,
      Its necessary to understand what and how to use air assist. That is not meant to be rude or critical comment but there is a LOT more to air assist than blowing air through the nozzle. I designed the ultimate air assist kit and gave the product to Cloudray to sell and it works. Howeve, it was several months later that I fully understood why and how it worked. Please take a look at this video for a full explanation that WILL help solve your problem. czcams.com/video/79VZjMdfBmI/video.html

      @@woodendayz awesome and you have the air assist set up to auto switch.

    • @woodendayz
      @woodendayz  Před rokem

      Yeh that’s correct I can manually turn on the air assist via a toggle switch aswell but it’s set up so that when I select air assist on a layer in lightburn or rd works it automatically turns on
