Having had auto exposure minolta cameras since the late 70s, I found my recent purchase of a SRT 200 an enjoyable exercise in rediscovering film photography. The basics of the SRT200 are straight forward, it was the battery and battery check I had litte knowledge of. I'm using the 675 hearing aid battery with a small plastic sleeve in the battery compartment. It's 1.45 volts instead of 1.35 volts. Haven't developed any film yet to see how accurate the meter is.

Just got one from a film shop near me for free. The owner owed me a few bucks and just gave me what sat on his shelf and said it'd be better off being used. Can't wait to try it out

I purchased this camera when I was 14 or 15. Bought it on layaway at Tootons. $165 maybe? I was making $2.15/hr. 1982?
Anyhow, loved it. Was stolen in '90.
    Life was never the same...

      Hello Darryl,
Thank you for sharing this story with the community, it makes us think about the effort we must make to enjoy our passion for photography.
It is a shame to know that your equipment was stolen, but surely you will keep in your memory and in photos good memories of those times.

So just to clarify... Does the camera even need to be switched to on if you don't use the light meter when you shoot?

Thanks for this! I just got my dads 201 and this helped a lot. The only issue is that the depth button doesn't show the blades opening or closing at all. It feels like it's not fully compressing into the body at all D:

@@incredevey571 It is very likely that the battery is already exhausted.
