Restoration of a Cave Divers Seiko Watch - Rusty 1980s Seiko Slim Turtle 6309-7290

- This time I´m restoring an old Seiko divers watch from the 1980s.
It´s a Seiko Slim Turtle with the Seiko 6309 automatic movement.
The watch was worn by Nicolas, a French cave diver, on every dive for over 20 years. One day this bond broke in an accident and he turned to me to get his watch working again.
Nicolas dried the watch in a cup of rice after the accident, but the condition is beyond bad and every local watchmaker refused to repair it. The case is covered with scratches and dents, the glass is cracked and the salt water has ruined the dial, hands and movement.
I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

this is an resurrection operation not a restoration not a rescue bravo
I think you understood what he was doing.. understanding is more effective, that kind of comment is very old in all kinds of such views
@@MtZion-fl7gp...what? 😂
This guy is not a Watchmaker, hes a necromancer
The Flux Capacitor always kills me.🤣🤣🤣
These old mechanical watches are magnificently complex. I don't know anything about watch making but these video's are nearly hypnotic to me. And the specialised tooling... Whooo weee especially the time machine :)
He really wasn't kidding when he put the term "Dead" into his channel title. I mean ... that poor old Seiko looked like it was way beyond saving. Awesome work!
BRAVO! I believe this may be the best restoration yet. Your skills are amazing.
Skills of course. But the most importand are many, many machines and tools. In total, very expesnsive. A single ELMA poler machine is so expensive .
@@RadekW-You mean like a 1000 bucks?
It’s amazing how the face changes so well.
Dude has a desktop flux capacitor in his basement.... I love it
Most satisfying spring bar removal I have ever seen.
Seiko Co. should buy this restored watch and your video so to place them in her historical timepieces museum
Speaks volumes to the quality of the parts. 35 years old and drenched in seawater. Still keeps time perfectly.
That dial could’ve been a really cool tropical dial. Had a nice patina.
I never have the patience to watch a 20+ minute watch restoration video, but man oh man! I was glued onto the screen for the entire 21 minutes and it was worth every second!
old spring still hits 0s/day, crazy !
Your restorations are amazing!!!!. Those watches are death, but you can return them to the life!!!!. Thank you for making this videos. I enjoy them a lot. 👍👍👍
Unbelievable! I know, this is only your "Hobby". You are not a Professional. You are Better, you are an Artist, a Magician. Unbelievable!😮👍
We need a Red Dead Restoration in each village!! 🙂. Bravisimo!!!!
That is how you rebuild a fossil ... An expert with his gadget and colorful socks 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
It would have been easier if he placed the whole watch on the flux capacitor, but that kind of video wouldn't be as satisfying as this. 😊😁😆
Would’ve been cool if you kept the same dial and/or hands to keep the character of its previous life
Love the retro polishing montage
I think I've just stopped breathing for twenty minutes...fantastic
Absolutely amazing transformation! I bet the owner was pleased beyond belief! 👍
This video made me incredibly angry. Watches are like people, and we shouldn’t play with them when they are meant to die. This video is a disgrace to the Seiko watch brand.
@@GardenGuy1943
My best friend has one of those. He has so much money and can buy any thing he wants but he loves that watch and it`s the only one he wears. I can understand that. Oh, by the way. we are not young anymore. Great job.
20 more years. Nicolas is happy and amazed.
The best looking dive watches ever made.. Bar none
Well used well served watch.
Seen it all...
I wouldn't wear it while diving after this masterful restoration. ❤
But that's me 😊
One word only ...... WOW !
I was not expecting the Flux Capacitor 😂😂
I'm delighted to learn that both the diver and the watch survived.
It’s gift from heaven, that people like you exist 😊
The fact that a man can be so skilled to restore a pretty much dead watch just blows my mind
Love the freehand work!
Tolle Arbeit.
Watching this again and it’s even better second time around, lot of people who are very good at watch restoration would not have bothered with that sekio in that state, your presentation the engineering the care and effort in bringing it back to life is an absolute joy to behold. whoever owns that watch now will be as proud of owning it because you restored it as any Rolex owner could ever be on the day they walked out of the shop.
In the hands of a craftsman, this watch again became brand new! Only in the hands of a craftsman!
Friday afternoon, work got me stressed out my box! 20 mins watching your video and I'm nice and relaxed again. You never cease to amaze me with these restorations. That was incredible how you pretty much brought that watch back from the grave. Please keep doing what you are doing, these videos are amazing and whilst I'd never manage to replicate what you do, you are very inspiring. Thank you!!
Thanks 😊
Yes I believe your video has therapeutical effect as well.
Love the Flux Capacitor!😄
Not a restoration, a miracle 😂
A great watch with such a wonderful personal history restored to perfection and ready to have many more years of use, who doesn’t love the SKX.
So much effort to do this work and make a video of it at the same time with this quality
I still have to watch this with headphones on to enjoy it the most, well done.
One of the most impresive watch restorations I've seen. This Seiko was destroyed.
Definitely you are the Master. I can not believe that you can do. No words. Congratulations. I have a watch like this but a 2022 version and I am happy with it. Thank you for sharing your videa.
The discipline, precision and attention to detail you display with every restoration is a joy to behold. 🖤
Unfassbar! Toll inszeniert und keine Minute Zuviel.
this is the first time ever i have seen plastic inside a watch.
This guys right there is the reason I love automatic watches. :) This completely destroyed watch was restored to its full glory with only new dial, hands and bezel insert.
Both are same legendary
The watch and the restorator!!
The Masterpiece Restoration from the Master!!
This is why I love watches so much. Years under dirt and it can still be restored but the most fascinating aspect of it is that it holds so much value with its longevity and history behind it, one of the few items that can last you a lifetime in this world, invest in a good one and you will never lose.
This is a restoration, I love watching rebuilds but they aren't always restorations!!
Another RD triumph. Awesome work. There was a shit ton of gaskets on that model.
I love the Seiko divers, especially the 6309 and 7002! The movement here didn't look as bad as I thought it would.
Great work as always!
So far this is the best restoration of seiko slim case turtle 6309 divers. Case buffed but not excessive..the buffing procedure is at it's best revealing the hair line and shiny parts as it should..THE BEST.
Thanks, was a lot of work 👍
If you don't know how do you repair or restoration, after deassemble the watch, the scene looks like a nightmare. That is why you do and we watch. :D The watch found a new life with you.
Daym ... someone took a sledgehammer to it !
Damn! It just ain’t the restoration skills I am amazed of! Great editing!!
Wow! It's almost impossible to believe it's the same watch. You are a magician. Thanks for sharing.
Simply Incredibale , it's a resurrection 😍
Love the special FX.
Bravo! Well done. I’ve noticed that you’ve added some new tools and gadgets to your arsenal. Nice.
Just fascinating!! The entire process, including the videography. Thank you for this!❤
I wondered…
Maybe this time you should have thrown it into the skip.
Nope!!!
Amazing resto 👍👍👍
Clearly a breach of water seal causing the rusting of the hands and other issues . That was one well used dive watch . Fantastic job .
Your restorations are worth watching.I never did skip any part and I love to see every videos till the last second.❤
Everything is perfect in your channel. Keep it up
Dude you are the GOD of watches!
you are a perfectionist in what you do
Always watching for the socks. 😊 Mesmerizing watch restoration.
You are truly amazing at your craft! Great job bring that watch back to life. A true pleasure to observe you at work.
You can see the passion that you put into your work bringing back great watch’s back to life
No lost cause with this guy, brilliantly well done sir!
This man is an artist
I probably would have taken this as an opportunity to swap to an NH36 movement, but that was amazing work.
I would rather let this one Rest In Peace and buy a new watch. A Seiko in this condition did not worth the time and effort, unless the aim is to practice and make a video
Your funny socks and your talent are the best part of your videos!
Hahaha the time machine moment was awesome !
At first sight I thought that was beyond repair and I expected you to have to replace most of the parts !
I was astonished at how few parts needed to be bought for this restoration !
Amazing as always, although, I skipped the time travel sequence… anyway, you’re one of my absolute favorites, because I love to see a complete, good-as-new restoration. Also, I really enjoy your vast array of tools, and your amazing socks! Thanks so much! Looking forward to the next one!
@@RedDeadRestoration
That time machine was something 😀
Honestly, this is one of your best videos. Amazing job. Beautiful watch.
I just love that time machine! Great work as usual!!!
I liked every part of the video except the new dial. I'd just clean up the dial and put it back. It just got so many stories to tell. Every time someone look at it, it will tell how many years it spent in the grave of the ocean and come back out of it alive.
When you first showed the condition of the watch I kept saying "Why would you ever want to restore this, its impossible! Just bin it". But, you sir, have done an incredible job! This wasn't a restoration but rather a revival😆
Perfection as per usual. Bravo and thank you for another film!
Fabulous restoration of what looked like a dead and forgotten timepiece. You did a fantastic job of bringing that one back to life.
Excellent word and superb results. Kudos once again...!
Poetry in motion , thank you .
Phenomenal job as usual, but why in the world would he want all of that wonderful patina to be removed from the case and case-back? patina = memories and enjoyment IMO
I agree, I much prefer when the old watches are just repaired so they can still show that they have lived and have history, even with a destroyed dial. Here it just looks like a new watch, I don’t see the point.
IMO Patina is a euphemism for ugly. Sorry its a metal case wristwatch, and the only story it told was it was absolutely buggered. Now restored to its former glory.
@@julianrowland9079 With that logic, why bother with the restoration? Just throw it in the trash and get a brand new one.
WOW this is amazing!!!
This is one of the best restorations, if not the best!
absolutely incredible
I've been watching your work for almost 1 year. And i don't even know how a watch works 😅. But this videos are AMAZING.
Incrível, simplesmente incrível, magnífico parabéns linda recuperação do seyko
Amazing work!
Funny, and amazing. It makes me think there must be some watchmaker's stand up bar, probably in Basel, where you guys get out your comedic frustrations.
Lots of tech (🎉) and good work 👍🏻.
Nice editing bro! Thanks for all the great content, your vids are the perfect thing to watch to wind down before bed.
This videos are so addictive
