I have some strange suggestions: 1. Karpacz, Karkonosze Mountains and its main range Góry Izerskie (Wang Church and King of the Mountains statue in Karpacz, the Meadow of Witches, Bobrowe Skaly, Zbójeckie Skaly with a beautiful viewing platform, Palace in Wojanow - 20 min drive or Czocha Castle - 1 hour drive from Karpacz, Janskie Łaźnie and the path in the tree tops); 2. Krynica Zdrój if you are in Katowice (Nikifor Krynicki - Polish painter was from there. It’s very pretty); 3. Zalipie (A beautiful village with painted buildings); 4. Masuria Region (Olsztyn, Bridges in Stanczyki, Polish horses natural reserve in Popielin, Wilczy Szaniec in Gierloz, Giżycko)

Katowice is Polish Sheffield. It used to be very industrialized. The mining and metallurgical industries were king. This is changing today. Mines and steel mills are closing. You must see Nikiszowiec districts in Katowice. It is an old workers' housing estate. In Silesia you have to try Silesian roulade with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage prepared hot. The surroundings of the agglomeration are fabulous. I am thinking of the Beskid Mountains.🙂🙂🙂

Oh you should definitely visit Katowice in the summer! The Silesian Park in Chorzów (right next to Kato) is very beautiful, full of colors and music festivals. Old part of the city has some extraordinary tenement houses. Katowice is surrounded by beautiful forest, lakes in Dąbrowa Górnicza, fields, many, many parks. Come here in summer and I can be your guide! I'm an architect who loves nature and trust me - there is sooo much more to see around Katowice!

The best are in a place called "Żurownia", and are called "kule bele". You must also see the star-shaped building, and Nikiszowiec.I'ts amazing place! I've been to zurownia and it was disgusting. Today's Polish food is poor compared to Polish cuisine from 100 years ago, where you could eat healthy venison, delicious pickles, all grown in your garden or in nearby forests. The best Silesian restaurant is karczma pod mlynem where Silesian is spoken but the food is greasy, salty and full of carbs (that's typical of eastern Europe).

I went here with with a friend in Feb 2020 overnight on a cheap flight just before the lockdown and we LOVED it! I agree, most places are worth a visit if you have an open mind. Had a nice cheap buffet lunch of Polish food in the mall. Also had some vodka and a Lebanese platter at a place with really nice staff (hope it survived). Was impressed by the food choices, also a Georgian restaurant there. Loved the socialist, modern and industrial architecture, the Nikiszowiec area is really cool, seeing the old industry, had a nice cake there too, again super friendly staff. The Silesian museum is superb, absolutely superb! Found a nice bar with all kind of ales at the edge of the entertainment area, so cool! As this was my last trip abroad, as I'm still being cautious, I have great memories. Ok it's small, no so many touristy things, but I'd go again tomorrow.

For me, Katowice is the most underrated city in Poland. Katowice looks beautiful especially in summer. They are very modern and groundbreaking.
An important aspect is that it is a city that has undergone a metamorphosis most quickly among Polish cities. There are gems of modernist architecture mixed with modernity.
The Culture Zone is one of the best examples of the transformation of Katowice, a completely revitalized huge area with Spodek, KTW, the Silesian Museum, the International Congress Center, NOSPR, i.e. the philharmonic hall of the Polish radio.
Finally, I can add that Katowice has a very original and alternative atmosphere.

i love that you guys actually get informed about the places you visit and see! huge respect for that!
And the statue next to Spodek is a "Bebok" that's a creature from the Silesian Folklore that kids would be threatened with. The creatures were supposed to be living alongside people and be a bit of troublemakers and occasionally discipline kids who'd do something wrong. Now they're being repurposed and reimagined as helpers and icons of the local folklore. The Bogucice ceramics factory produces amazing ceramics with Silesian folklore motives and a lot of artists take inspiration from that as well, particularly one who paints Beboks and flying trams (luftbana - Silesian neologism) on landscapes of the city.

    Hi, someone from Katowice here:
2:46 right next to the hotel there's a tenement in which the Katowice conference took place, during which Jews from around the world decided that a Jewish state will be created.
4:00 the market square can be divided into 4 parts, but that only matters for fairs, those parts are divided by tram tracks and the AIOLI building.
5:21 that's actually a KTW2 building - it's an office building that was finished this year
5:25 Spodek was actually build just because local authorities wanted a sport area. It was not done because Stalinism ended, but despite Warsaw unwillingness for such projects. A lot of things in Silesia were initially build illegally by local government until they were too big to hide, when it was often like "oh my, look at what the people started building completely on their own, now we've gotta finish that". Of course non of that was actually made by the people on their own, they were paid to do so. It shows also how much Silesia changed after 1989 going from the Chad "I'm gonna do what I wanna do" to this complete boot-licking state it is now.
7:00 No, it's just the Museum that is closed. Everything else is open.
7:25 yeah, having been living here my entire live I often hear that there's nothing here to visit which annoys me greatly.
7:58 1st uprising was just a bigger workers strike. Second uprising was to abolish German secret police (SIPO), which didn't had a referendum as it's goal, but it was added as a bonus. Poland then lost that referendum fair and square, but didn't accept the results so made a third uprising to take that land into Poland. So pretty much only the last one was about being a part of Poland. Silesia has a huge sense of self-identity that most importantly is separate from Poland
9:10 those are tenements, it's where the workers used to live, but are not industrial buildings per say.
Yeah, come to visit Katowice and greater GZM. It's a lovely place. There are even more interesting places you didn't showed which would be great to visit sometime, like the Nikiszowiec, Guido Coal Mine, Silesian Park (to build it Katowice allegedly changed their name to Stalinogród for 3 years), Zgoda camp, Industrial Monuments Route and so much more.

Guys, you should visit Wrocław. Except the fact the city is absolutely stunning, you can also find there these little dwarf statues that you can go and search for; the more you find, the better at city exploration :) Plus also need to go on SkyTower roof, to see city panorama

@@dabbleandtravel When in Wrocław, you should move from there to Wałbrzych. In the region you will find absolutely stunning castle, Zamek Książ, and also mysterious Kompleks Riese, a construction project of Nazi Germany between 1943 and 1945. It consisted of seven underground structures in the Owl Mountains. It is said that Nazis were building these tunnels to work there in secret on their wunderwaffe. Still no one knows what they were building it for.
