    My rules for scav runs:
    1. My scav karma is inviolate. So I will not fire unless I am hit, I am 100% certain it's a PMC, or I saw them make a kill. In fact, I will often take out my knife to avoid accidentally killing a friendly scav.
    2. My scav is expendable. Thus dying to a traitor scav or PMC is better than losing scav karma. However, if I don't have any quest items I may decide to run towards gunfire in hope of getting a kill. (OTOH, as you point out, it's often better to leave with good loot rather than risking it for better loot.)
    3. When doing a loot run, unless you're desperate for cash, drop any damaged or low value gear you spawn with. Being light means you will run faster for longer & move quieter.
    4. Scav in moderation. While scav runs are zero cost and a great way to find FiR items for quests & bulk up your bankroll, you also aren't improving your PMC. You can do loot runs with your PMC too.
    5. If you can, wait to examine unknown items until they are in your stash so your PMC gets the EXP. I also don't examine keys until they are in my stash so I know which keys I have found already.

      I literally just threw away a perfect scav last night. An air drop came in with less then 20 minutes left in raid and I was like ehh I'm just a scav who cares. Mid search of the air drop a graphics card popped up. I should have grabbed it and left but I searched the whole thing. Moved stuff around in my inventory, made room for a bigger back pack. Grabbed light bulbs to tuck in my rig... and then started getting sniped by a PMC with BT's. Had I took the obvious win and just scooted with the graphics card I would have been fine. But my greed for random 8-20k ruble junk get my scav killed with a whole ass graphics card in his vest.

    I agree with a lot in this video.
    The one thing I would note from personal experience for cash running is the speed of your scav runs: It is definitely biased from someone like me who prefers Reserve, Factory and sometimes Shoreline but the faster you get out of the raid full of loot will just about always beat you spending a lot of time trying to go to the good spots as a scav. It makes sense to hit say GPU spots for Farming part 4, but if you are really struggling for cash you can make an easy 200 up to 300k on Factory. Speed equals more scav runs equals profit equals scav rep, repeat ad nauseum for 3-6.0 fence rep

Stash spots, the sheer amount of NPC scavs, and good spots for loot has lead me to an overabundance of backpacks, rigs, guns, and money that I can now invest into hideout and stuff to do the annoying quests. My main focus as a Scav is survival and making money. This gave me a survival rate of currently 82% as a Scav, however, I have the tendency to play very aggressive and reckless as a PMC unless I‘m sniping. How to succeed at Tarkov in 2023:
    Step 1: Scav into factory. Loot a couple containers or leftover bodies if you find some. Leave immediately.
    Step 2: Go sell that shit.
    Step 3: Do a PMC raid. Have an objective. Always be moving toward it. Remember that you don't have to take every fight. Sometimes it's even better to leave loot on a kill if you think you're exposing yourself to too much risk by looting. Surviving and completing tasks is your #1 priority.
    Step 4: Repeat.
    Also as an aside, don't give up. Just keep playing. With time will come more situational awareness, map knowledge, and overall better game sense. We all die, over and over again. Even really good players go on losing streaks, just the way she goes.

Also to support his point more then once this wipe i have run into fellow player scavs doing the gun crates above fob and i went to hit caches and they went to fob for me to just hear a bunch of shots from fob.

    As a new player, my major problem with EFT is that PMC spawns are not random in the map. Experienced players know where others spawn, and all they have to do is wait for you to cross the road/bridge/wall/corner. I find deeply unsatisfying that I have to die 25+ times fully geared in every single map, just to do a simple mission. This is why new players have gear fear... it doesn't matter whether you are fully geared or carrying just a pistol with 8 bullets. You always die within a minute from a freaking prick who is waiting in the corner for your spawn.

    • @glizzygoblin6444
      @glizzygoblin6444 Před rokem +4

      A good way around that problem that doesn't require a massive amount of knowledge is to give the other players some time to move around. You do lose some of that early raid info on where some people might be and you might get surprised later on but at least you do avoid that specific issue. Don't stay exactly where you spawn, move slowly, try to take unexpected paths when possible and loot around. While you do that, others will get into fights and their priority won't be you anymore. Plus some of them will die which means less people waiting for you. The ones who are still alive will have potentially damaged armor, less ammo/nades/heals etc and will be less enclined to engage you unless you give them an easy opportunity. It's not the best way to deal with that problem, but it's a decent solution while you learn the spawns.

    • @beccatrap9672
      @beccatrap9672 Před rokem +1

      I believe the best way to get over this (A little luck is involved, if ya get Tarkov'd, ya get Tarkov'd) is to respect the areas you spawn near. For instance, if I spawn near Scav Checkpoint; I can't logically believe I am going to be the first person to Dorms, on Customs. If I go to Dorms from there, I need to expect a fight. However, if I initially stick to the area I have spawned in, and clear it of loot, I can let the other's who spawned near Dorms duke it out, and I can come in later. You'll also catch anyone sprinting from their spawn area to your spawn area.
      Also, just scav a lot. Learn cache locations, and only loot the caches as a Scav. Most people don't check Caches so, you can usually nab a few 100k each scav run. But, ultimately, I do agree the beginning experience is a bit too harsh and there is just WAYYYYY too much downtime in Tarkov. Taking 10 mins to build a kit, another 10 to 15 waiting in queue, just to die in a 5 minute raid, is absolutely absurd.

    My buddies are pretty green with this game. They're on their 2nd wipe and Im on my 6th. Personally speaking, I never scav because I would rather lvl my endurance and strength than make a couple hundred thousand rubles and I just buy what I need for my hideout on the flea. That being said when I do watch them make a scav run as a group the big mistake I see them make is they load in together but they don't scav together. They're all so obsessed with the loot that they actually argue about who gets what and demand that everyone stream so they can see what everyone is getting and they race to lootable containers to the detriment of the whole team. It's like crackheads fighting over a rock, lol. Then they yell at each other and go their seperate ways. And each and every time they get picked off by a group of pmcs. None of them end up extracting. When I point out their mistakes they snap at me and tell me to stfu. So now I just sit out their scav runs and get the popcorn. It's hilarious but totally fixable. Also, they've gotten so used to playing like that they are now doing it during pmc runs. Splitting up?
    And don't get me started with "dude! Stop shooting! That's me!"

Idk why, but I was staring at them from pretty close and they did not shoot. Anyone else playing single player mod? Things are a bit weird in that. I find that if I play on, for example, Interchange, and I stay around the edges of the map, I can happily loot every hidden stash and airdrop without any apparent danger.
    There were a couple of exceptions but generally I never met any AI enemies outside the shopping centre.
    The exception was terrifying and I'm still not sure what happened. It was like someone opened up on me with a belt fed machine gun, or possibly just mag dumped in my direction. Whatever it was seemed to be loaded with tracers. I panic fired a few shotgun rounds in that general direction and ran for it. Nothing came after me. Thankfully that was as PMC and I had very good armour.
    What I'm wondering is whether AI PMCs in single player Tarkov actually try to reach exfil points or just mill around in the central area fighting each other. I've never had a problem safely extracting.

    In my second run on streets I played as an PMC with a mp43 loaded with grizzly slugs. I just wanted to survive the raid for a task. The scavs are really annoying though, which is the point I guess. The whole time I'm just trying to get to an extract and they kept coming. I killed when then got fucked up by a player so I hid, kept quiet and healed. I peaked later and there was a player scav looting the bodies I killed. I headshot him. And went to loot myself. He was full of loot that I couldn't believe he obtained so fast. I took it and went to extract. I didn't even loot the other bodies I killed. The player scav could've made so much profit if he wasn't greedy for more. I learned to get what I need and survive. This way I make profit. If I'm greedy and loot every body I see I likely die and end up with nothing.

I don't like using good guns unless I have a few more saved up in my stach so I went into a raid only a glock no extra clips. I managed to kill a scav and pmc together looted and then killed another pmc. Moved for extract and got another kill. I went from just a pistol to armor and a really good vest (filled with loot) as well as 2 ass weapons. Instead of taking the safe way to extract I wanted to loot the 4th and got shot. A lot of people are probably too used to watching streamers or more extreme watching highlight raids and get this expression you need to kill 8 PMCs and extract with 2 million roubles. And as a result they try to go after every fight and then die cause their plan was fighting 3-4 different PMC groups and every scav on the map. The more you fight, the more chances you have to die. You gotta learn when to fight and when to retreat, or move to a game that is more PvP optimised.

Majority of the time sometimes I think there's cheaters who by the time I spawn in at 32 mins left in raid and every single rogue was killed and looted and it blows my mind but when that doesn't happen I loot all building 3 high end loot spawns then kill the rogue on the corner of building 2 then ru. Up kill the rogue on building 3 if there is one and then use building 3s gu. To kill the rest of the forums easier if not then I might have to fight one more before I get to the building 2 corner rogues gun and then I'll kill the last 1 but after that I'll check building 2 high end loot spots and then go drug lab and hit the 4 bitcoin virtex high end spawn broken boxes near drug lab / train exfil and usually by then I've gotten atleast 2 guns a armor a backpack and around 300k in high end loot usually I'll find around 500k high end loot so total I make about 650k per run but it's not very consistent and it depends on where I've spawned like if I spawn chalet or used and it's not looted yet wnd I get lucky I've made it out of a raid with over 2 million in 1 run and that wasn't counting the guns because I was still building up my arsenal in stash.
