Garry Adelman and Chris Gwinn visit the location where Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address and "step in" to the famous 1863 photograph.
The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

Looking at Wikipedia, Andrew Curtin is noted to have four daughters, and only one son who died in 1857. Please correct me if this wrong. Thank you. P. S. Love you videos. 😊

There a time travel in that photo
My great great uncle is buried there. Sgt. Thomas Daugherty. Company K, 19th Indiana Infantry, Iron Brigade. Killed in action on Seminary Ridge July 1st 1863. He was originally buried by Confederate soldiers in the yard of the Lutheran Seminary. One of his comrades had been wounded and captured and witnessed the burial. That gentleman was left behind when the Southern troops retreated after the battle and was able to identify the grave sight and so my uncle would later be reburied in the soldiers national cemetery.
]❤❤❤the most ❤😮😅
My great-great-great grandfather also fought with the 19th Indiana, he was wounded in action at Antietam and medically discharged before the Battle of Fredericksburg later in the year
Love the "Stepping into the Photo Graphic"...more of this please!
Such a cool feeling to know that I and my daughter walked the ground where that great speech was given.
I was there for the 150th anniversary. I tried to recreate the photo of the person on the outside of the cemetery at the front gate. It's neat and eerie at the same time to go to the spot today. That it hasn't changed. Thanks guys. Another awesome video.
It's amazing that the Gettysburg ceremony was actually photographed and only one photograph actually caught the president sitting down.
That's the eye of history captured.
These are so incredible. Well done Garry and ABT! Very very cool.
Such an awesome picture and with the narrative it made it come alive. Thank you for this to your viewer's.
It touched our hearts seeing those folks as they were (practically alive today) during that historic moment!
Videos like this are so awesome. Literally history coming alive. Thank you!
This is beyond brilliant. Bravo!
My wife has family in the area and I have visited many of the battle sites. My emotions go crazy and my heart drops to the ground thinking about all the death and how that mass killing was the only way they could work out political differences. Even walking the Appalachian Trail I could still feel the sad needless death. And now so many years later humans still resort to mass killing instead of talking it out with a couple of cold beers around a fire pit.
Excellent , as usual.
Thank you for sharing! My father and I visit multiple times a year. Been doing tons of research on our family history during the Civil War and have found around 25 documented ancestors who have served. It is truly incredible, and we appreciate everything you do for the community and park!
Gary that was amazing walking into the photograph, well done!
Fantastic presentation. Thank you!
The 3D combined with the inset effect is just amazing.
The production of this video is simply astounding, the graphics, imaging, the narration, the ability to "step in" to the photos, almost unbelievable, but so, so real & truly memorable for us, the viewers!😲🇺🇸
Absolutely outstanding video!
This is brilliant. Great job. Thank you. I love this channel. Thank you for all that you do. The past few years I have been infactuated ( in a good way lol ) with The Civil War and Lincoln and the way of life at that time. I'm so grateful for the content that you guys put out. I'm a novice, but I'm determined to research and read and watch so much. I learn so much every day.
Gettysburg is so rich in history. We live in Altoona, so only a few hrs away from there & typically come for a weekend each Fall. Looking forward to coming this year again. There's so much there that I learn something new each year.
THIS IS OUTSTANDING !!!!!!
Love the VR videos taking the viewer back to the place and time of key locations and events.
This is an amazing way to show the civil war. Keep up the amazing work.
I always wondered how many people that attended, actually heard the address, considering there was no amplification.
Love this thanks for sharing
Outstanding information and very interesting video thank you
Fantastic job. I loved every minute of this!
Glory to the heroes of Civil War. Rest in peace.
These are incredible!
I absolutely LOVE the VR videos! They really bring it home
I've been there as a American you gotta experience it the battle field is awesome 😎
First time I've seen photos of the address where actual people, other than Lincoln, were identified. Excellent work. downloading
Thank you all you done!!!
This was so neat to watch!
Good one Gary
Thanks for sharing this Gary. These rare photos of Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address.
❤️💯👊
Love to see the videos and the pictures of the Confederate army. I keep hoping someday I'll see my grandfather
Should have filmed this at the exact spot Lincoln gave his speech, far off in the distance behind the metal fence you mentioned.
That is soooo awesome
Chills!
I found it interesting when I was there, that we know where Hancock, and Ambrose were shot or killed, but not the exact location of the Gettysburg Address.
What a treat. Who was Andrew Curtins son in the photo? Myron?
Basiago front and center...
"never fight uphill,me boys"
"Gettysburg.....Wow! Never fight uphill me boys...never fight uphill" - DJT - Lolololol
Which one of these is Lincoln?
Very cool. Thank you
It’s a shame that the United States went directly into the sewer afterwards and never look backed.
Politicians started using the cause of the war in their campaign speeches. They still do it to this day
Afterwards? Lincoln had already embraced fascism and thrown away the constitution
Classic ivory tower reasoning; complete with categories, deconstruction, historical guilt and the like; all leading to an inescapable conclusion: I’m smart and therefore morally superior to you and your paltry concern with the survival of your people.
Wow, what an annoying display of people that constantly and habitually talk with their hands.
The speech before was about 2 hours and nobody remembered but Lincoln just talked for a few minutes I guess it’s all about who gives the speech
The main speaker, Edward Everett, later wrote Lincoln that, “I should be glad, if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes.”
