I feel like it was a huge missed opportunity to make the LEGO sculptures in the store reflect some of the icons of the mall. Instead of the car, biker, and cop, it would have been sweet if there was a giant LEGO red dragon, submarines, or even a bronze whale (even though that one is still technically in Phase One of the mall). As always, great video. I love your channel, it's super comfy.
maybe they’re will be someday when covid slows down so the master builders can work normally. would be pretty fitting to have a dragon under where the old one was, maybe if we all keep on telling the store manager we want it she’ll relay it to her higher ups that could make it happen but till then we can only hope
You should make a video of the history of this space. You quickly showed some pics, would be cool to go more in depth if possible. Either way, thanks for another amazing video BEM guy, you are awesome!
Excited to visit the mall to see the new lego store, I think this is a great addition and hopefully it brings a new life to that phase that has been gone for some time. I still remember when it was an EQ3 furniture store! Thanks for your videos!
I'm in this one! I'm in this one! Man, what a cool thing to be a part of. If you care to know, I'm the tall-ish guy with brown hair who was greeting at the front entrance. What an experience it was to help open our beautiful West Ed Lego Store!
Good day from Minitonas, Manitoba, Canada!! I miss the old Mall - my dad loved it there. He was retired, but washed dishes at Jubilations Dinner Theatre!!
hi it’s david, its a pleasure to be in one of your vids, love what you’re doing for the mall and city keep up the good work. (and yes bricksie technically was the first customer to be in the store due to early access but since the reason why he was there early was to film a video i consider that as press/media so in my opinion I was the first “official” customer to be in the store. I mean if you want to get technical the first person to be in the store were the construction workers or employees)
How awesome!! Glad you got to be there, and talk to so many nice fans! I just truly hope that the much-rumored second lockdown won't happen. Glad you had a great day!
You gotta put pounds in your text about the lego statues, this is Canada after all, weight and height still use _freedom units,_ and you even said the Lambo's weight in pounds too. Also the map on the bag has another error, "98 ST" is above Muttart Conservatory, but it's 98 AV, like all the east-west roads. Some tired worker must've thrown that graphic together in a last minute, frenzied hour. Or maybe an exec in Denmark?
I hope with this size, you can buy individual technic pieces, motors, etc. Otherwise, you can go at some Toys R Us and find pretty much all the same stuff.
I was in Edmonton last July. I'm impressed how Edmonton is handling this pandemic because here in Manitoba were in lockdown till middle of next month. I miss Edmonton and West Edmonton mall. In my opinion Manitoba is the most afraid of this virus in all of Canada here I'm talking about when our death numbers were low ect. Because even before our first lockdown people were staying home as if there was already a lockdown. Great video and cool lego store.
It's a great store! Kinda empty, though- they obviously have less stuff to touch than they normally would owing to Covid- you see no minifigs to pick up, or "build your own character" stuff at the moment, but that will hopefully change. It's nice to finally see something permanent in here- I liked how RAAS looked, but it was a mess to shop in- a dozen lil' locations and it was hard to bypass all of them to see, say, the ice cream shop. So far they have their staff trained with a lot of "do you need help finding anything today?" even though there's like a dozen of them on at once- pretty typical for a big flagship store. Looks like they poached one or two of the Disney Store's staff when they opened, too, lol.
they have the station for the build a minifigure but just no minifig parts in them, they do have pre-made 3 packs if you wanted any of the parts in those
he was the first, but not the first official customer (being that he was technically media/press when he went early) but yes this is David i’m definitely not the first to make a purchase being that there were people already checking out while I was still grabbing stuff, but what I did achieve was the first in line and the first customer to enter on grand opening day
Remember when Canada Post had its very own post office in the mall? Back in the 1980s...it was over by the Famous Players West Mall 5 movie theatre. Anyway, this reminded me of that because my Lego-loving brother once got a Canada Post-branded Lego mail truck at that post office. As always, love the videos!
Warning to all parents.... do not take your kids in this store unless your ready to blow $500. Go to this store alone... or just buy a ps5 and stay home instead. These blocks are super expensive
as cool as a lego store is. I feel like its kind of odd for anyone to want to go to a lego store during this pandemic groceries and such i can understand but lego seems like not worth risking your health or your families to buy some lego bricks. Considering the city is seeing spikes in cases. masks help but its not 100 percent and so on. Most people if being safe will nto see this store until the pandemic is over.
@@user-ut9ln4vd5m It's hard to say- obviously that kind of thing is variable. That place has a TON of staff, so assuming everyone's on minimum wage or around that they're shelling out at least that much a day just for wages. Then you add in rent and whatever it costs to bring in their stuff. WEM charges an arm and a leg for rent, too. But I'd imagine they got a solid deal for their first few years at least.
It's finally here! West Edmonton Mall is home to Canada'a Largest Lego Store! :)
Is open on gummy bear album day
Very exciting! Thanks for the update, Matt! And how cool is it that some of your fans recognized you, the lucky bastards!! 😁👍

As always, thank you for bringing a piece of home to my screen in Japan. 🙏Excellent work on your script writing, and production.
Thank you!
My 2020 needed this so bad
Thanks again for the opportunity to be interviewed in you video!

Hah! They used an old map when they printed the one on the bag. The Royal Alberta Museum is listed in its old location, not the new one.
Oh! Good eye!
Went there on opening day and got both of the gifts. It was amazing!

Dude Honestly I can't wait to go to this mall after Covid
Did you go?
I went on Sunday it was really cool
It’s always exciting to see big and new things of any kind at the mall.
Imagine if they had a Lego dragon built like the one that use to be in the theatre.....that would be epic
I will definitely check it out next time we're in Edmonton
Thank you for uploading this! 👍
Just saw the store today! It looks fantastic, that line was huge thought!
Great video.
Excited to see it on Tuesday ! Going to stay at Fantasyland

Am i tripping or did you stick a lapel inside that guys mask
LoL, must be tripping! Only audio here is onboard the camera - no lapel mic used!
Its about time, great video.

It has a ton of empty space inside hmmm
there’s gonna be stuff like play areas once this pandemic is over

Ok, Karen.
I wonder how many people died from purchasing Lego that day.
How long will it last there? It seems like stores/attractions don’t last long in that spot.
LEGO has money to burn- doing stuff like building a giant money-losing store in a major location is kind of their standard operation procedure.
@@Jabroniville I'll bet that even just 5 customers a day, shelling out probably $200 each, would keep them in business. 💸💸💸
