Those are all great pens and I don't know why, but the Visconti Homo Sapiens is just something different. The unique material, the design, the capping mechanism, everything is so different, and still it's one absolute classy looking pen without being in any way over the top. And I know it's an absolute grail pen for many, me included. It somehow seems so appealing to me, it's the only pen I could think of that I would even consider spending this much on. And you can bet that it would absolutely be my daily driver for the rest of my life.

Watching your expression and hearing your appreciation of different and distinct elements of each is almost (almost) as good has owning them.

They are amazing and many people have them on their grail list, but they are just unattainable with prices in the 500+ range, as well as not readily available from big retailers like goulet and Anderson pens, even when they were around. I look forward to a return of them though!

Always rooting for a Sailor in any of these lists...just makes me proud of my tiny little collection of Sailors. While I may not have the resources to pick a KOP for myself in my lifetime, the consistency of quality finish and feel of all my Sailors just doesn't make me feel obliged to. Sailors were my first gold nib pens, and they did set a standard for me regarding my future purchases.

Depending on the color you want you may be able to pick a KOP brand new for under $400. But usually that's the black with gold trim. I'm not interested in that color so I haven't gotten a KOP yet, but If you like black and gold it may not be as out of reach as you think if you do a bit of digging.

I find the m1000 to be quite an unnecessary, ridiculously large model. I can't imagine anyone feeling comfortable carrying this mammoth of a pen around on a daily basis, and actually using it regularly, it's more kind of a desk pen. The m800 is already a full size pen, but nevertheless very comfortable and user friendly (I LOVE it). I have the feeling that Pelikan introduced the m1000 just to have something to compare to a Montblanc 149.

Do you not find it unacceptable that you pay over $250 for a fountain pen, and it is sold with a 3rd party steel and/or poorly tuned nib that you have to send away (on your dime) for repair? Is it more about aesthetics and not functionality in that price range? Would love to see a "beefs" or the worst pens for the money video. On the latter point, I'm sure there are a few of those in that price range too.

My expectation is that every pen I purchase work right out of the box with no issues. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, but I have been fortunate. I've purchased just under 200 pens and have only had three which I either returned to the company for warranty service, or had worked on by a nibmeister. While I wish the number was zero, that's not a bad overall percentage of pens working just fine out of the box.

@@FigbootonPens I haven't either, but I'm just scared, because they faced so many nuclear accidents on their territory. I mean Hiroshima,Nagasaki bombardments and Fukushima accident. God,bless them!

I think I've watched almost 85% of figboot videos. Half of the selections in this video felt bought and paid for. Am I wrong? I'm genuinely interested in hearing opinions..

If by "bought and paid for" you are asking if I was compensated to include specific pens in a review, the answer is no. Never. Now, please keep in mind, this video is five and a half years old. A new list would be significantly different.

@@FigbootonPens I appreciate the response. I'm a big fan of your page. I think I'm actually just a bit in awe of the wide breadth of pens you've interacted with or know about.

I find it very Elitist to give a great review for Pens which have nibs which must be sent out for work, but not to mention who is doing that work. How would we ever find someone to work-over our $1000.00 pen nib? Why not give out the names of your Buddies who do this work? Why keep these guys your secret?

If you are referring to the Pilot 823, I discuss the out of the box issues I experienced with the pen during my full review...and mention who performed the repairs.
