To those discussing the title below (some time ago), the translation is "Vigil". A couple sitting up quietly at night, on their isolated farm, the snow falling in the dusk, the grass of spring waiting at the foot of the hills; far away the madding world, fearful day and night, but on their farm, no fear, just beautiful warm calm fearless smiles; the love and hope of the couple; their young daughter falling asleep--the last lines mean "she closes her blue eyes, my little daughter"
"Medúlla" remains my favorite of her albums. Only Björk could gather such diverse musicians, vocal artists, choirs and beatboxers and create something so amazing.
@lust4bass actually it's hard to translate into a single word in english but it's not "submarine" vökuró is "the calm of being awake".. imagine a little girl in her bed with her mother by her bedside, singing her to sleep
except that she didn't write Vökuró. So maybe that's why she needed help with some of the lyrics. There's no shame in having trouble remembering all those lyrics from so many songs. A lot of artists have teleprompters
@xXLola88Xx Strange.... I got "submarine" from Google translate. Not that it is 100% reliable, but someone made that input, which is quite funny . Thank you anyway.
How diverse a scene is not this! Björk in an regularly irregular attire, choir in their every day wear and a rapper in typical clothing, all participating in the performance of such an ambient song.
This is perhaps the most beautiful and possibly saddest sounding song I've ever heard. So what's with the huge fat American in prison clothes doing in this video?
In case you haven't noticed, his is one of the beautiful voices in this in the angelic choir backing her (I believe he's the bass). I hope that was a bad joke and not a genuine question.
Seth it just embarrasses me that the world thinks of the US as a country of fat people and prison inmates. They really do and unfortunately it's justified.
Is that not Rahzel who was the foundation of so much of the Medulla album? With talent like that, I doubt he's worried about one anonymous person's strangely tone deaf opinion. Be careful throwing your stereotypes around, because you're reinforcing certain stereotypes of yourselves with this sort of comment.

I totally agree.
Super
This sounds exactly like the studio version
Makes a everyday musician seek that desire Björk has. Utmost respect towards musicians and music world wide. Beautiful just beautiful
I've literally heard this song over 1000 times, and I still get chills from it! Love the last drop that the guy does at the end!
If Oceania wasn't a thing, this would easily be my favorite song on Medulla.
This song is magic....I love Iceland
I love her, she is a very unique and special human-being besides being a great artist. Thank you Bjork.
HER FACE AT THE END IS SO HAPPY LOOK AT THAT FACE AAAAAAA

She's well proud of that and rightly so. Sublime!

I'm just " happy crying " I can't explain ...
That fucking smile at the end, esp as the awesome beatboxing guy glissandos down, genuine excitement.
wow this is amazing, thanks so much for sharing! ♥
The tune is by Jórunn Viðar, and the lyrics by Jakobine Sigurðardóttir. Beautiful song!

Hermoso realmente bello
i love her smile at the end :) lol
Damn good
Of course, another interpretation of the lyrics is that the "thu" in the song is the child herself.
I like it
😢💜
OMG!!!
I don’t know what she’s saying but I have a good cry to this a lot. It doesn’t always help. Depressed is painful. 😪😪😪
@lust4bass
actually it's hard to translate into a single word in english but it's not "submarine"
vökuró is "the calm of being awake".. imagine a little girl in her bed with her mother by her bedside, singing her to sleep

0 people don't like this ...
The respect is here !

Does anybody know if there is sheet music to this available anywhere?
except that she didn't write Vökuró. So maybe that's why she needed help with some of the lyrics. There's no shame in having trouble remembering all those lyrics from so many songs. A lot of artists have teleprompters
Can someone tell me all the songs she performed on this concert?
I wanna find them all!
Thanks, I didn't knew that, who wrote it and sang it then? O-o?
3:15 So cute ...
@kvokian thats the only reason I thought she might have been reading the lyrics
Is she reading the lyrics?
this is beautiful
@BobBurnnquist Apparently, it means "submarine"
lust4bass Incorrect
@BobBurnnquist " réveil paisible " ou " calme réveil " in french :) ( sorry i'm french >< )...
@BobBurnnquist or " le calme d'être éveillé " ...
Does anyone know how to get this full concert?

@kvokian hahaha its just coz she seems to be looking down at the start of the song :p
@xXLola88Xx Strange.... I got "submarine" from Google translate. Not that it is 100% reliable, but someone made that input, which is quite funny . Thank you anyway.
transcendent
Does anyone know what DVD this is from?
This is not from a DVD. It's from a tv performance.
How diverse a scene is not this! Björk in an regularly irregular attire, choir in their every day wear and a rapper in typical clothing, all participating in the performance of such an ambient song.
except she's kneeling to read the lyrics on a computer screen xD but still
So what does "Vokuro" mean?
BobBurnnquist Icelandic for ‘Vigil’
frábær
who wrote this song?
This song is actually a poem written by Jakobína Sigurðardóttir
Jórunn Viðar wrote the song and set it to a poem by Jakóbína Sigurðardóttir.
@@einarsteinnvalgarsson3333 oh gosh it took 3 years to go back here! Thank you to knowing that and im sorry not noticed for so long..
@@witaradanu1442 It's all good and you're welcome. :)
Rosalía was here
People who disliked this masterpiece should stick to Nicki Minaj.
gospodin markovic i love nicki minaj and björk and i believe they should collaborate
Not 50 Cent standing on her left. Even he seems moved :)
- ...recording, rather.
