    How has the multi screw repair you did holding up? By the way, you can do a thru bolt for a few of the screws by accessing under the bed with 2.5 inch screws.

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  Před 3 měsíci

      Multi-screw repair did the trick! The plate I had to re-screw in was my kitchen slide. The other side of the slide floor is not accessible because the slide mechanism wood cover "sled" has my permanent desk mounted to it. MAJOR surgery would have had to happen! Its ben almost 5 years, knock on wood!

      @@TonyRoche-wh1dn Some of my issue was "standing on the button" too long. It the stop limits aren't set right, standing on the button too long will make it try to continue to DRIVE the mechanism past a point that when "maybe" it shouldn't. I always WATCH the slide like a hawk during operation. I make CERTAIN I am pressing the right direction. If I need the slide IN,......I starting saying, IN, IN, IN many times incase I am actually ready to press the OUT button by mistake! I hace become my own slide limit control now as needed!

    Love your videos. You explain things well & I love your sense of humor ! IF you have trouble with your slides again there are 2 ways to improve that repair. Anytime you have holes that need to be filled you can inject urethane glue into the holes & insert toothpics to fill that hole permanently. Let it dry overnight, trim off the excess & reinstall your screws. 2, IF you can access the inboard side (floor) bolting straight thru the floor & cog track & installing thru bolts with blue Loctite, will give you a repair that will not fail. A mechanic & home renovator by trade, we're looking for our 1st coach & your videos have been scary, reassuring & definitely informing ! Keep it up !!

I can tell by the tools and spare parts that you are used to being independent. I hope you can follow-up and swap out the temporary screws with ones up to the task. I agree Anthony. This design was not in line with the rest of the quality of the rig. The weak link will always break. These slides are so difficult to get repaired correctly once you are on the road, they should be designed three times more robust then they are. I have an appointment in August 2020 to get the full wall slide repaired at the factory in Nappanee Indiana,assuming it will be open during this Covid-19 crisis. I am banking on the factory knowing how to do it.

      I have used that trick on door hinges, and I agree it is good. My problem was every screw sheared flush in the hole. I called Newmar and said, "Do you have a replacement plate with an entirely new additional row of attachment holes that I can buy? They said NO. You can only drill so many new holes!

      @@OurJourneyInMyles can you easy out them and reuse the same holes. At least its plywood , so if you damage the holes you can epoxy them back closed and redrill. Very bad design using pk screws to hold plate in.

      I'm sure the assemblers in the shop were just installing the design they were given. I would have hoped the Engineering Department would have put larger fasteners in that would have had a combined shear load safety factor that was HIGHER than the load the motors could supply. That way, the motors could stall out, and nothing breaks!
