- Bill shows you how to install a Anderson Composites Carbon Fiber Heat Extractor Hood on your 2015-2017 V6, EcoBoost or GT Mustang.
Energizing the aesthetics of your S550, this single-piece Anderson Composites hood is an aggressive touch with style and durability. Crafted from lightweight and super fortified wet carbon fiber with a sleek high gloss finish, this hood shows pure excellence in design. Showcasing dual sets of three heat extractor vents on both sides of the hood, keeping your pony's engine cooler when you're tearing up the road.
It's important to add a clear coat finish to this stunning hood before you install it. This hood does not have a UV protectant built into it, so you're going to want to make sure that you take the necessary precautions to ensure longevity.
Installation is straight forward though you will need a helper. Zero modifications are going to be required and this hood will mount using the factory locations and hardware as a direct OE replacement.

Nice! I've been looking at this hood for months this video makes me want it even more. Soon I'll get it haha.
Bill I love that the hood catch transplanted from the OEM hood is still body-color. Some guys would see that as an imperfection, but to me it gives your upgrades a chance to "echo" the original parts. I hope you keep it that way.
I did and ended up having the carbon tinted deep impact blue before I sold the car, looked amazing!
Thank you Bill!!! I was able to self install the 2018 mustang gt carbon fiber hood following these exact steps! Much appreciated
Two Stangs where’d you get it? And how do you like it
@@cheyenneobregon184 anderson Composites. I think maybe even American Muscle has some too
Looks very nice Bill and Shelby says hi lol
Looks good Bill and it is a nice Mustang you own.
Thank you
You would think for $1600+ dollars, it would be clear coated.
So, is there any sort of aftermarket drip pan of sorts for this hood to decrease the amount of water flow into the bay?
I think I just found my hood upgrade!
Hi Bill love your video, love your car. I have the same car but convertible 2015 GT with 670 hp Roush supercharger and the exact same hood. Previous owner installed it. I will use your tip for the extra holes for the washer line. Question, my air filter is sealed as well, but the cutout placement is above the fuse box and ECU (passenger side) that’s my concern. I too have no pins but will consider. Also with this hood and Roush supercharger do you have a strut brace that fits?
Greg N Ontario Canada
Have you ran into any issues with the roush supercharger so far?
What about the weight saving. I think it would be the only reason to switch over to that.
What happened to your video of the Anderson Composite GT350R style carbon fiber spoiler???
What about the heat shield? And hood pins?
How do I wash my hood ? Tape up the vents ?
do they have this for the 2019 gt?
Like to see a video about the Anderson Composites Carbon Valance with the 4 pipes exhaust👍
I thought u couldn’t run the gas shocks with the hood?
Did you put the turn signal light?
I noticed with this installation you guys did not use Hood pins and you are using hood struts? Has anyone had any issues using applications? I know on the company's site they suggest not using hood struts and using hood pins
Have you found a way to keep the water from leaking all over the engine bay through the vents when washing or raining?
There really is no way. I don’t drive it in the rain if I can help it and my air box is sealed so I have never had any real issues when it gets wet.
Hey Bill... I know it's a late question on my part... I bought the exact same hood for my mustang... it said I need the hood pins and that I should not install it on those kind of hood struts... Did you install the hood pins later and did you have problems with the hood struts? Thank you in advance
I have buddies who have the exact same hood and they don’t have hood pins. If completely optional you don’t need them, but you are free to add them.
Even aftermarket hoods look better on 2015-2017 Mustangs than the 18s because they sit higher. The lowered front clip screws everything up. I want the new 10r80 and magneride but that front is too ugly on new ones. I really wonder if we can downgrade the front end on an 18-19? The Shelby still uses the old body and that pisses me off because that is like Ford saying buy our track car if you want good looks.
How big is the cowl? I can't stand cowl hoods on Mustangs but this one has the style I want
It's barely higher than stock
How is that with driving in heavy rain? I’m Procharged with an open element filter. 🤔
When you are in motion it has no issues, if the car is parked in heavy rain I would put something over the vent. I also ran a JLT cover on my filter which helps.
on anderson comp website they state to not use the hoodstrust and saftey pins since you own have you seen any issue?
I have been 100+ and have had no issues at all. My redline hood struts work just fine as well, the hood is 3 lbs lighter than stock so there should be no issues.
Bill Tumas thankyou
Why is not clear coated from Anderson Composites?
If you want to paint it ,etc . Most hoods on the market do not come painted or cleared.
The fit and finish is just impressive. I wondered about the weight saving ... Do you know how much weight you saved whit that modification ?
This is more cosmetic than weight, the factory aluminum hood is pretty light
the hood's aluminum??? My tid bit for the day!!!!!
I heard you have to put hood pins and the heat insulation on this hood is this true? Looking to buying it soon
Hood pins are recommended due to the light weight but I have never used them. You do not need any heat insulation, the design of the hood lets heat easily escape.
Thank you for the Respond! Mine is on its way :D
However, what about those hood struts? Did you remove them? Heard it could mess up the CF hood.
I just got a hood like that one, but I noticed the website states to install pins as well. As of now, do you think it is necessary to have them?
I never did and haven't had any issues. I will say around 140mph the hood starts bouncing pretty good so pins/latches aren't a bad idea.
Bill, absolutely love your videos. Great job, but your car is starting to look like Frankenstein. Why???
Is it fit with cobra jet intake without lowering engine?
I never tried so I can't say.
@@cjponyparts dose the hood have the clearance in the scoop
Is there a way to order a carbon fiber wrap?
Don’t do that bro…
Can I somehow use the hood turn lights in the new hood?
I never tried with the factory lights but the Starkey ones we offer can be made to work.
@@cjponyparts can you link me to that page. Thank you
what does the stock hood weigh?
33 pounds for a stock hood, 31 pounds for a single sided CF hood and 23 pounds for dual sided CF.
what happens if it rains?
I installed a piece of foam under the vent for road rallies since I have an open filter. As long as water doesn't go directly in the filter it will be fine.
what is the weight difference?
Minimal, I didn't bother weighing them after picking up both hoods and they felt about the same.
aww dang. i waa hoping for a 20 or more pound diference, at $1,400 to much for looks. thanx
Great hood! You mentioned a clear coat....can it also be painted to match the car?
Yes absolutely. I plan on partially painting mine.
Weight savings???
Minimal if any.
That's unfortunate, it looks really good though
What's the weight saving?
minimal if any, stock hood is light
Hi Bill! Now that you've had it for a while, does it leak water? If so, how bad is it?
With this style hood you will get water in the engine bay, there is no way around it. I run a sealed box for my air filter and have not had any issues. I am more annoyed that pollen gets in there lol
I like the hood style but not the color
I understand the hood can be painted, but if the car was black that hood would look awesome without painting it.
Looks killer on magnetic as well, check out our most recent install video.
those red rims on the blue mustang look so hideous
That's exactly the look I was going for!
