Why does it actually feel like a movie though... like everything looks so insane and unpredictable at first.
Do movies seem unpredictable to you ? The scripts of today's movies are so predictable that there are very few surprises, in my opinion.

They need to make new stuff, plenty of books out there, problem is lot of the writers dont want their books turned to movies, which is a shame. Or the rights to the movies got bought, but never made by the company that bought them.

There’s always an NPC in quests that puts their ALL into their performance.
And it's such a shame they get overlooked!!

I still remember the JP dub for that NPC in the recent photography event who went completely unhinged.
The panic and desperation in Morris's voice, like the VA was actually forced to say these lines at musketpoint, lol.
Morris is too good to just be a one time npc.

I didn't expect them to go this hard for a limited time event cutscene. I hope it means that they'll continue to do better and better in the future Archon quests cutscenes.
I have full faith in them with their "storytelling" departement by now. They might lacking in some content or gameplay but I'm all in for their lores.
But this also means that a lot of people who miss this event will miss out a LOT of Chevreuse's character development.

When was the cutscene? I dont remember watching this epic stuff occur in the game.
Hoyo managed to blend all those film techniques into their cutscene, using only in-game assets... better than most 3D anime shows out there.

Hands down, one of the best events in Genshin Impact, well written with both dark and funny moments.
And Chevreuse, it took one event, ONE EVENT, to become such a fantastic character.
And the quality of this cinematic is incredibile, to the point it doesn't even feel like Genshin Impact anymore but an actual movie.
The characters' movements are well done and detailed, Morris' facial animation when he was scared and begging for his life in particular.
Massive props for the animators because they really stepped up their work, as always.
I'm so happy and proud to be part of this community and to witness the work
of such passionate developers.
For a limited time event literally themed after old school cinema, you'd expect the devs to style it up with the cinematography.
A lot of homages paid to hard boiled noir detective movies, maybe even 90s John Woo if you stretched a bit with the cartoonishly villain monologue here
Highly recommend watching Noir films to get context with why this scene has such lighting. Humphrey Bogart (1941) is a good example.
I agree, the quality of production in Genshin is off the charts for a video game. Sometimes I get frustrated with the game, but the stories and cinematics keep bringing me back. Hats off to the Genshin team that created this!
Genshin cutscenes are always amazing, but this one felt like it's entirely in a different league. The facial expression, the animation's fluidity, the voice acting, the shadows and the lights all achieved perfection.
Its getting better and better. Like no lies a lot of people say they prefer the 2D ones and I dont blame them (I still kinda do too) but theyve been going so hard lately with the 3D ones like wow
This cutscene is such a big technical and artistic improvement. They'd managed to make it feel like a movie scene. Oh, Paimon is also adorable here!

but holy h*ck the _animation_ on him, it's a serious step up in genshin's animation, so desperate and worried, you can see pure panic in his eyes and movements it all just reads _so_ good
I knew that guy was the killer. I just didn’t expect it to be such a selfish reason. Hoyo really bringing the deep darker concepts into game.
Morris was a horrible person for that. Killing his mistress, leaving his children orphaned, doing everything in his power to cover up the murder, even go as far as fake not having funding for sponsorship and even sabotaging the film shoot.

Chevreuse was a total surprise for me as for how good as a character she is. She was the true star of the whole event! And her VA did such an amazing job.

“You can keep your mora, and you can go to hell” gave me the shivers. And Veronique being the second musketeer was so shocking and unexpected, I expected Morris to be the one that sabotaged the cameras and stuff but Veronique was so unpredictable. I freaking love this event.
I love how the mixing for Chevreuse's voice is so bold and crushed, really does fit her style!

It's really impressive how much Chevreuse's voice actor gets into the role of her character. Morris' dubbing is not far behind either.
I mean it's Erica Lindbeck voicing Chevreuse, so yeah...

This reminds me of the albedo event. Where they put so much effort in a limited time event, it’s so good. The voice acting was amazing. I feel bad for any new players who’ll miss this amazing quest and cutscene

These kinds of scenes always reminds me of one of the main reasons I fell in love with genshin, besides the visuals and combat, the story telling is always so rich and mesmerizing, just amazing. ❤
Erica Lindbeck really delivered on this cutscene, Chevreuse has become one of my favorite characters after seeing her in this quest

Well written, well executed and well produced.From begining to end the entire gameplay felt like a movie.This was one of the best genshin story quest ever.
Morris' voice actor is GIVING IT ALL. What a fantastic performance.
I just watched this scene and finished the gameplay, and it was AMAZING. The voice actor of Morris did so well, and the animators animated his shaky/terrified movements so well. And the story here is very creative, for a story to be connected to a novel, I love it.
This cutscene is so cinematic and Chevreuse is slaying. I wanna pull for her, her gun is so cool
Girl's a 4*, so she'll probably be easier to pull for than Yoimiya or Raiden Shogun. Question is who should I "risk" getting a C1 for?

I would like to commend the voice acting of Chevreuse and Morris' VA, they did great! Also, I love the light and dark contrast of the scene! They went hard on these one despite being a limited time event cutscene.
If they made a whole movie or show like this I wouldn't mind tbh. This looks really good.

I love the lighting work when chevreuse was walking, the way it was completely dark with only her eyes and outline visible made her so look so menacing
absolutely loved the way how they used lights and shadows in like 0:42 or 1:07, very contrasting from the usual "bright and happy" genshin looks but served a powerful context in the scene, impressed with the cutscene always keep getting better!!

even though it's just a minor event, they somehow managed to level up quality of basically everything of the game in this one. The writing was fascinating, interactions between all characters were funny and amazing, and the cutscene were so cinematic, not to mention VAs from EN, JP and CN contributed their best performance in the acting, definitely one of the best event of Genshin, I am so glad to see they are taking Chevreuse's character development so seriously and I think it's safe to say she's the most successfully developed star 4 character so far, hoyo just won't stop their progress in production, bravo!

This made me pleasantly surprised. Unexpectedly intense cutscene for an event. The action and the music really make the scene.
Top notch voice acting. Both from Morris and Chevreuse’s VA. Morris sounds absolutely horrified 😂, and Chevreuse’s voice really reveals her hidden rage (so later when Chev said the thought of killing Morris crossed her mind, I believe it. You could hear it in her tone). And the pressure she asserted was definitely enough to make Morris confess on the spot 😂
After hearing her conversation with Wriothsley, I think Moreis's life being hell in the Fortress of Meropide while the two musketeers will more be seen as heroes will prove cathartic for her.

This is what I wanted from the game and always ask for it...more cool background stories or things that shows how a new character is, more characters being together and interacting with each other in these events, awesome cutscenes like in this case and so on. Great job to all involved in these stories, from writers to art designers, voice actors and whoever makes all the great tasteful choices when it comes to the final product.
This is definitely one of my favorite cutscenes in the entire game!!
This cutscene felt really amazing for an event! The shadows, the voices and even the plotwists! I also noticed that the animators are starting to use more props and camera movements during dialogs wich make them a thousand times more entertaining!

Also I saw a lot of comments regarding of how this is justice. That's a common plot point in several older detective series when they know the murderer but need to get a confession.
The quality of this animation is absolutely insane. Especially when you compare to cutscenes from the beginning of the game. It really shows how much its improved!

I really LOVED this cinematic! The shadows, the lights, the animation, the reactions of the characters, the voice acting of Morris's VA and of the other characters too! I loved every sequence! This one is definitely my favourite cinematic from an event! When it finished i wanted to see it again!
