  • Bored of your everyday cereal? People do breakfast differently here in Asia compared to New Zealand and the Singaporeans definitely know how to start the day right. There are a bunch of different breakfast dishes beloved by Singaporeans, so we take you around with us to check some of them out.
For our first meal we show you that porridge is a hearty way to go. Unlike western porridge or oatmeal, Asians have our ricey-porridge with meat. Usually fish, pork or chicken meat, sometimes mixed with veges and often served with a side of fried bread.

Next we visit a store that both our sister and brother has recommended. Singaporeans love their kaya (coconut jam) and toast breakfast but really this is something that can be eaten any time of the day, same with all the other dishes on this episode. Ya Kun is a super popular cafe chain in Singapore, you can expect them to always be packed.

You can't have an Asian breakfast episode without some soya bean curd. It is a flavour which brings me memories of my Grandma and China. We hit up the best spot in Singapore for this soya bean curd delight.

Starting to get a lil full at this point but as soon as we smelt the beautiful aromas from the kitchen of Simple.簡 we were ready for more. Nasi lemak at its finest is served out of this tiny little stall. Nasi lemak is a Malay fragrant rice dish that's cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf. We added chicken rendang to make a full delicious breakfast meal out of it.
