So I just got a Selmer bundy ll alto sax is that ok to start on
Tomplay are not compliant with consumer protection legislation that requires notification before taking payment. Tomplay just take payment without notification not providing opportunity to opt out. Tomplay will never refund. In short this app is a subscription trap for those who are unaware.
@@bryce2641 NICE BUT NOT JUST FOR STARTERS ITS PRO SAXOPHONE
I have several of these apps and I agree, they are enormously helpful. I got Tonal Energy several years after I watched another of your videos recommending it. I use it every day. I also use iReal Pro and Anytune Pro. What a difference they make! Great video as usual. Thanks, Jay!
Thank you Jay! My first lesson is tonight and of all the videos you have shown I was wondering how to get that extra music to be in sync with.
Thanks Dude. Dig your work as I am teaching myself sax. Purchased an A drop hone A1 and mentioned your review to Roland
Great video Jay! I've been using Tonal energy and for some reason it always show my notes a bit sharp. It also happened with some recordings played to check. The Tom Play APP it's great. The recording function it's hard to adjust the delay and mic. I love that you can loop sections of a song. Hopefully in the future, they can have more standards in there, I realize it might be difficult with licenses and stuff, but it would be great. Another thing Tom play that I can't use is the cursor, it actually messes me up, but it might be me LOL.
Anytune Pro is just the best. I have it on all my devices. A feature I really love is that I can export my markers on one device and then import on another. I'll do this if I've started using my laptop or iPad but want to listen to sections on loop in the car on my phone. The Reframe function that allows you to isolate instruments is also a killer feature.
Jay, the 2 and 4 click was showed to me in university and changed the way I practice, definitely agree w the comment on developing inner time feel (jazz bass major. been learning sax for a while :)
Love this video. Entertaining, informative, and inspired me to pick up the sax today.
Awesome! Thank you!
Now that I'm ACTUALLY studying sax, I have been binge watch all your catalog again. Just finished my first practice with 1:48 app.- It's magical! - I struggled to find a buddy app for my practice and the tunner my teacher shared didn't transpose (or it was hidden somewhere) make me lost during the session. Now I have the recording of the practice while the tone matcher on the headphones (another great tip) was essential to find little mistakes in my embouchure. Thanks again for your content and all of your work.
I have used TomPlay for over a year now. I can’t fault it. It has recently added the function to play and video yourself which is spot on using my iPhone which has a decent mic to record. You can also request songs. I’ve had 2 done for me. It’s also taught me to read music 👌👌
Awesome video and tools! Genius Jamtracks is one of your favourite apps and that makes us so happy! 🎉
For Android users, the updated version of the app will be released very soon.
Happy practicing to the whole community!
Thanks, Jay - very interesting and useful.
Thank you! That's a very handy video 🙂
Realy great apps! Many thanks for this info Jay!.. and many thanks too, to the developers of this tools that can help us all.
This was Outstanding! I love Technology so this was right down my alley. Thank you so much for making this video!
I LOVE TONAL ENERGY, and Tomplay, i’ll definitely download the other apps you metioned, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Forscore, for managing and performing with digital sheet music, plus tons of other great tools.
Thanks for these apps. Great video.
Good tips, Jay. Thank you. Question: how do you get the audio output of your phone to play through your speakers?
thank you, can you do a video on how to intergrate into a covers band? whats your thought process?
I bought an iPad and downloaded 4 of these apps. My practice routine is transformed and I have an engagement and sense of fun not there before.
Tonal energy and ireal pro have been servicing me for many many years already. I do think I’ll give Tomplay a try though, see if an old dog can’t learn new tricks
Thank you master for this video 🙏
thanx for good information!
This will definitely make saxophone practice better, thanks!
I hope so!
Oh My Goodness... Ok, it's time to upgrade my vintage iPhone 7 in order to download these amazing apps you just shared with us! Make way Make way!
hey man! great videos... you're amazing!
Anda Jay! Acabo de ver el soporte este flotante para zapatillas que funciona con un imán y un ventilador y hace que la zapatilla gire flotando en el aire. Uno pero para saxofón porfa jejejejeje
Wow, didn't know about TomPlay. Thanks Jay
Wow! Tom Play sounds BOSS!
Great stuff!
intonia is fast visual tunner and recorder. is designed for violin, but i think it would work with the sax too. You can record a practice and check the notes.
This is really helpful, Thank You
Glad to hear that!
Hello Mr. Metcalf, can you discuss saxophone stands? I just bought Yanagisawa AWO-2 and it slides to the side in my old stand because the bell on the old sax was symmetrical whereas the bell on AWO-2 is opening to a bit to the side. Can you recommend something?
Wow, God bless you sir
Anytune pro is my jam!!
Tom is great but they don't have my artist like Art Porter. But I love "Anytune"!!😂 OMG Thumbs up for you Bro. ❤❤❤
Great video! I d love to see a iReal pro vs Genius Jamtracks video. I can’t seem to find anything like that on you tube. I know about iReal pro, but the Genius Jamtracks name keeps coming up as an alternative, do you thing I should switch?
Maybe just use both as they have different strengths.
what about chordify ...it can give you a running chord chart to any song you can find on youtube... i use it daily.
Hi Mr Jay, I have been watching every video that you have on CZcams. I've explored your website,
My question is, as a older person wanting to learn to play the beautiful sax,
Can I really truly learn to play this instrument or am I just fantasizing of doing so? I will be 60 in 7 months.
Yes, absolutely
Where can we download these apps on play store
Awesome bro!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jay. . Regarding Tonal Energy: I have been using Soundcorset as my metronome for years, but switched to TE in order to be able to hear only Beat 1+3 or 2+4 as you suggested on your tutorial. However it has been a couple of years since you recommended that app, and the one I just downloaded is so complicated that after spending an hour how to vary the beats, I have given up. It assume that the one you downloaded is simpler. Chris- a Yank in Auvergne.
There is a button that puts the metronome in simple mode. I agree it is over complicated otherwise.
@@bettersax Thanks Jay. I will look for that button. Love your site/blog- also, after viewing your lesson, I just had my daughter bring me a back a Reed Geek she ordered from Amazon, and it does work wonders. How can I mention the purchase so that you are credited with the plug? A Yank in Auvergne.
Thank you soooo much🎷
You're very welcome!
Hey Jay, lately whenever I’ve been playing, I keep biting through the mouthpiece patch, and my lip. No matter what I do, I can’t seem to use less pressure. Do you have any advice for something like that?
Softer reeds will help a lot.
Why not Amazing Slow Downer? Let’s you modify the key and the speed, lets you loop sections, and connects to your Spotify playlists. Sometimes, I split the screen with Ultimate Tabs so I can see and transpose the chords. But they are user supplied chords, so be careful, sometimes you find a lame version. I go with the most liked version to minimize the problem. Sometimes people correct the author of the tab in the comments. I guess I use Amazing Slow Downer, Ultimate Tabs, and Spotify because I hardly ever read music for sax. I play with guitar players who give me a playlist for a gig, and what do you know, they tend to change everything to E or A instead of the original key. Leaving me in F# and B, all the black keys. I use Tomplay for my piano lessons because I am remedial on piano.
Do you prefer these apps on an Iphone or Ipad? I;ve got most things on the Ipad..
Sir can you get a sax for me I live in Nigeria 🇳🇬
Ah and i know a new amazing app: "Stop odio al pitbull, stop ley de perros potencialmente peligrosos"
