AWESOME track, a true 80's classic...remember listening to this song over & over so many times when it first came out in '84. Always will be on my Top 10 list of weekend cruising tunes...RIP Van!!
Oh, the days of my youth... I will NEVER fear getting older, because I am so glad that I grew up with all of the beautiful music of this era! I would'nt trade it for anything! Would you???
I played this song in 1982 at KFXM in San Bernardino, Ca.. Great song. If you like Rick Springfield, You'll love this song. Great top of the hour ID record. (We editted the intro)
On this day in 1984 {June 2nd} Van Stephenson performed "Modern Day Delilah" and "What The Big Girls Do" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... "Modern Day Delilah" peaked at #22 and "What The Big Girls Do" reached #45... Sadly; Van Stephenson passed away on April 8th, 2001 at the young age of 47 {melanoma}... R.I.P. Mr. Stephenson and Mr. Clark...
I worked on the radio at 91/WORD/Spartanburg-Greenville and this song sure sounded great on the radio. It was a big hit for us back in the day. It's one of those you NEVER hear on the radio. It would be a great "Lost 45!"
@SuperTimebandit Van Stephenson died of skin cancer complication in the morning of April 8, 2001 in his home in Nashville,Tennessee. I saw the news in CBS in 2001. Too bad he's good, he was 47. He's only got a couple of albums then descended to country music in 1992 by joining the Blackhawk band but got only a minor success. I miss his music.
I love this song, I have it in my Zune30, and first time I see the music video, not a bad music video, the women look so beautiful and hot, damn! I'm glad I was born in the 80s. Where there was great music like this!R.I.P Van.
This song reminds me of a girl I was friends with named "Delilah" and we met back in the 80's when this song was out. She died last year..and I saw this song on here & I wanted to say... I love you, Delilah! Miss you, girl! :(
Yes it will! :) I was so sad to see these comments about his death....he was still young! Been sad all day about it. This song will always remind me of him.
@SuperTimebandit: Van Stephenson passed away on April 8, 2001, a little over two years after first being diagnosed with melanoma and undergoing surgery for the disease. R.I.P. Van Stephenson ( 11/04/1953 - 04/08/2001 )
I think that Van's actual birth name was 'Vern' I saw it on a song credit of his. Anyway, he hit #22 in Billboard, 6-30-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Van.
Were there two different vids of this, or did VH1 do a little editing? The section after the brunette at the desk climbs over it is completely different. Huh?
R.I.P. Van Stephenson.. 54400 views? fuckin lol..It's a so classic song, the chorus is unforgetable, and so "catchy", i can't believe that it doesn't have 1 million views at least..have nothing to say, any-fuckin-way........fuckin fuck...
One of my all-time favorite AOR tunes from the 1980s! They just don't make them as good as this anymore (sadly).
R.I.P. Van Stephenson.

Yes! Allmusic.com says he died on 8 April.
It certainly does look like him, if it him, he was 17 there I believe.
Van Stevenson born November 4,1953
Died April 8, 2001 at 47 from Melanoma
@SuperTimebandit -- he died in 2001 of melanoma.
is that vin diesel as one of the tough guys ???
No, he would have been way younger than that guy.
AOR
:-)))
Delilah was one of the Landers twins. Either Judy or Audrey. I'd guess it was Audrey.
@SuperTimebandit He died in 2001 from melanoma.
@kcaj789 I like this song but what about "Cut your hair" by Pavement?

@Cuteblondie1972 vin diesel ??
did the singer die?
He died in like 2001 I think.
I can send you a copy of this song no problem.
If you watch his lips, it certainly looks like he's saying laser and not razor *L*
Nope...not at all. Music today pales in comparison to the musicianship and melody of the old days.
