My dad is the bassist. He’s the one with the lite afro. He’s still playing music today, at 64 years old. He’s VERY good at what he does.

I saw them open for a superstar act at Madison Square Garden when they had this fantastic hit. I remember really looking forward to seeing it played live. Can you ask your father if it was Rod Stewart? (see update below. I think it was actually Hall & Oates). I love reading comments when members of the family of the artist are posting. Any musician that manages to be in a band that has a Top 20 hit has to be talented. You should be very proud of your dad. This song should have gone top 10 easily. I thought it would go to #1. I constantly played it on my Walkman when going to work I still have it in my mp3 player from time to time. If I remember, Budweiser used the song for a national ad campaign.

Rick Jacobs the lead singer of this band, passed away this past 1/17/2018. I went to Downers Grove South High School with him, although he was a year older and hung out with my sister and her friends, I remember him as a very talented guy and great fun to be around. This video was one of the first on MTV and he will always be remembered for it. Rest in peace Rick, you will be missed.

We used to see them at The Oasis Ballroom in Sacramento back in the 80's back when they made this video, might have seen them at other places too. John Sheehan of Ian Shelter lived close to me and went to my high school, I have not talked to him for years, I guess he is up in Auburn nowadays, I keep trying find their song "Give Me A Reason" and no luck, all I find is "Prior Park".

I had no idea he passed away. It's nice to think of how many people he entertained, especially this song. In the early 90's I was driving back from Ohio and had the radio on an 80's station when this song came on. I hadn't heard it since it dropped off the Top 40. I was so excited to hear it!

Somehow, I have a thing for remembering obscure its from the early 1980s, despite the fact that I was a grade school student at the time. Then again, my parents did often play WLS on the radio, which was a Chicago station that featured an eclectic mix of popular tunes...

Throughout the 80's I collected obscure music that, for some reason, rarely ever played on the radio (if ever). Keel - "I said the wrong thing to the right girl", Orion the Hunter - "So You Ran", The Rubinoos - "If I Had You Back", Danny Spanos - "Hot Cherie", Blue Oyster Cult - "Dancin in the Ruins", Deep Purple - "Knockin at your Back Door", Rainbow - "Since you been Gone", Michael Stanley Band - "My Town" and lots more that I can't remember off the top of my head. I'm not saying they never played on the radio. But I never heard them on the radio then, and certainly not now. Classic Rock stations play the same 100 songs over and over and over.

He had his guitar, and was playing while we were partying. I asked him if he could play Jumping jack flash, which he immediately started to play. He just had that musical talent we all admire. I have to watch this video every so often, because he just was too young to leave. Amazing person. Deepest sympathies to his family still.

They were actually booed by the Clemson audience (not the most sophisticated consumers of music in the world).

Hung with Rick at a thrift shop in San Mateo. Had some shoes there and when a pair sold we could get some beer. One day he disappears and Steve says he left to go to Sacramento to be in a band. I almost bleeped when I saw him on Merv Griffin. Soon after Rick is a big rock star and we go to see him and hang out. The funny part is I owed him $40 for a tape deck. He was on MTV and he would call my house to collect. I said your a big star and he said he only got a small per diem a day. I paid him but it still makes me laugh today at 66 years old RIP (Rock in Peace) Rick

I remembered the name of this band, and I remembered the story about how someone listened to a box of demo tapes that was about to be discarded and found only one worthwhile song, but I totally forgot what the song sounded like. Well, now I remember, thank you CZcams.

Just found out the frontman Rick Jacobs died in 2018. Reading his obituary it's even sadder how the 80s are so long ago that he was presented as a regular dude who used to be in a band when he was young, as just a passing footnote of his life. I'm one of the youngest 80s kids (born '85) but that makes me feel super old.

Richard and I both lived way out in the country and rode the bus together. Wayne is from Marysville. We were so proud of you guys back then, thanks for the memories

Their #16 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from late 1982. I remember on "Solid Gold" where the lead dancer Darcel did a number of great moves including spinning on the floor when it was on the top 10 countdown!

my best bro at the time was a nephew of Uncle Cal, who knew Waylin C. and the band. One mid-80's party night in Sacto, Waylin whipped out his guitar in the living room just jamming casually but i was 19 or so & never seen a guy play like that up close before it was amazing. They played a gig in the middle of the day at my HS gym in '79 or '80.

Steel Breeze made a brief appearance at the El Dorado Saloon in Carmichael, California the night that they signed with (I think) RCA records and they preformed this song. It must have been getting some pretty good air time in Sacramento because there wasn’t one person that didn’t already know the song. They were great and sooo easy on the eyes. As my mother used to say...”They can park their shoes underneath my bed anytime!”

Finally! The complete video! Every other upload of this song on CZcams has the intro snipped off, and I don't think I ever saw the end of the video, either. I think when MTV showed it, they faded out at the point where she hands the rose to the singer and he looks as he sings the chorus one more time. Always thought this was a cool song!
