Wow! now THAT was something different! (at least to us), I was onboard in the first two bars. Yet another reason to perform barefoot, and one I never would have thought of. I mentioned my college marching band days playing the tuba, well the percussionists were over seen by a hard charging, hard smoking woman who was a very famous percussionist, and she ruled the drummers like an angry drill sergeant. It was tough, but she produced good drummers. She would have had apoplexy over this performance, it would have been fun to watch her detonate with rage over every percussion principle being violated. Sadly she has passed away, she might reincarnate and grow up just so she could explode with outrage. Keep finding this stuff, that was great!

FYI: cak met (big brother Slamet) is the name of the person playing percusion. Kendang is an percusion instrument. New pallapa is the name of the group. Juragan empang means fish ponds owner

its called dangdut koplo from indonesian because changing control beat/tempo slow to fast and slow again until end song for example 1st play drum with slow tempo after this come kendang/gendang slow tempo and become fast tempo play like finger keyboard,name of kendangers its Cak met the king of kendang from indonesian
This "talent" as well as this "distinction" is deeply rooted in Indonesian traditional music. This style of playing "kendang" actually comes from the traditional music of Indonesia (especially the Javanese people) which is strikingly different from the western music. It even has different notations as well. By the way, the musical instrument this guy is playing is not actually a "drum" in western sense. It is a "kendang", which shell is usually wooden, while the batter head is made of leather.
This was pretty cool in a weird way. It has a restaurant music vibe. Or is it an ethnic wedding? I know it was a festival, but.... I liked it , I could work to this. The drummer was way trippy.

Cak Met is a great kendang's player in Indonesia. we here often see a lot of dangdut performances (the genre of music that is played) with very skilled kendang players, but cak met is the master. Kendang is main instrument of dangdut music.
It was like watching an old school DJ scratching some vinyl, only it was the fastest fingers in the world on some drums instead!
Went on a bit too long for me, but it was fascinating to see, definitely.
