@@BATOOLESK yes but it also depends at the graphics of the gaming you using at . cause i try playing in high graphics in gta V and the temperatures raise up to 88 or 90 temp but after adjusting the graphics it doesn't heat up anymore but you can still hear the fan noise but not that loud.
Beeba It can get kind of warm, but I bought a really cool cooling fan that lights up red and using it on the lowest speed worked wonders. Mine isn’t loud at all.
I got the HP Omen with the 8750H and RTX 2070MQ, was getting CPU temps around 89 in performance mode, added a .110 undervolt and now I'm getting a high temp of 81, very happy so far.
I had problems with anything under load going to 90-100C. Everything was fixed when I changed the thermal paste to thermal grizzly hydronaut. Now I rarely hit 90 on ultra settings. Also use hydronaut, it may not be the best temperature wise, but it will prevent a seep out effect. It's slightly annoying to take it all apart, but just film yourself doing it so you won't forget any screws and have to take it apart twice like I did
I got my HP Omen at my local pawn shop, did a run through on the system made sure it was clean and got a brand new Omen for $500!!!! I use it everyday, have multiple games, and watch tons of content and it runs beautifully!
WindenGhost I made sure mine ran well before paying for it. Made sure that everything was wiped and up to date. I don’t know too much about these kinds of laptops but I know enough to tell whether it will run well. Do a test run by opening some of the apps and see how fast they load and what not

I was thinking about getting the 9th gen i7 variant of this from Micro Center for $1200, until I saw those CPU temps. After going through a Razer Blade 2019 Advanced RTX 2060 and two Alienware m15's for the same type issues, I'm not trying to go through this again with another laptop.
my acer with 1660ti barely touches 90 with 2nd monitor, streaming, maxed for hrs, and haven't put liquid metal in it (i think omen comes with it but not 100% sure)

That's strange Even idle temps out of the box range from 60-80 and the fan is obnoxiously loud Me and most other people ended up having to undervolt the cpu

Absolutely love the Omen and was surprised how great both the keyboard/trackpad were. Notice how, in the beginning of the video with strobe lighting right on the keyboard, that you can see the rgb and keyboard clearly.
I have last year’s version of this: GTX 1060 (6Gig VRAM version) 256 SSD + 1 TB 7200RPM HD I7 8750h Great value then and still holds up now. Takes under volting and overclocking well. Has everything you could want at this price point. Screen is the only real weakness. But again. It’s fine for the the price point and I play on my 55” LG OLED whenever I’m home anyways. It’ll even run some games at 4k pretty decently.
Have the same one, you having the BDProchot/throttling lock out with yours? Been sending it to HP almost every other month since I got it. Did get some relief from the thermal throttling buy undervolting but now getting random power throttling. Every other week it'll trip the thermal throttling, thing is almost ice cold and shittting back a thermal issue
For those hesistant on this laptop ive had it for over a year now, for sure get rid of mcafee its an overall great laptop if your biggest worry is the cpu temp I lowered the laptops use to comfort in the omen command center (pre installed on the laptop) and even with the laptop in comfort at all times i see extremely nice frames and would recommend this laptop to anyone for this price its great just keep in mind the average build quality p.s. i have ran this laptop with a monitor and the highest temps i reached playing a game on comfort mode was 90 for the cpu.

I got this from my sister at the pawn shop for 600$. She wanted to play VR and because she's graduating highschool with her AA degree (2 years of free college) I promised I would get her a gaming laptop. Took me 2 weeks of deep searching. Found this and bought it instantly. I work at bestbuy, so the insurance and cost for repairs if anything is low to nothing for me :D
That's good to know because I'm torn between this and the Helios 300, and the bloatware stuff was extremely off-putting but the thunderbolt port was intriguing as I've never had one.
@@Unibot47 I have the machine and it is a beast but I highly recommend using a solid laptop bag and not the fabric one as my screen has suffered from my bag. As in I have a scratch across the screen which can be seen with a light source aiming at it when the laptop is off

I bought a maxed-out one refurbished for about $1400. Throw a cooling pad under it and you've got one of the most worth laptops on the market. I do also have a desk fan for extra cooling, but that's only really necessary during the summer.
About thermals. I use Comfort Mode and power plan on Balanced. I play most games on High settings for hours. Under 90 degrees C. No undervolt and no cooling pad, though I plan to get one. This laptop is worth the purchase.
I got the newer "Costco edition" of this laptop a few months ago... the x2s-15, has a secondary touch enabled screen, i7 9750, 16g rtx-2070 max-q, 24g ram, terabyte hdd, 256g ssd, 240hz main monitor, and it's factory setup with thermal grizzly liquid metal thermal compound on the cpu. My perifs are a Samsung 27" smart tv, HyperX Alloy mech wired keyboard w/ cherry mx-blues (I like clickey), Logitech g502 wired mouse, Logitech c-920 pro camera, cheap USB mic, avermedia lgp2+ cap card for my ps4, etc. So far I love it and I have no regrets. I stream/game 6-8 hours every day and 12-16 hours on the weekends. I stay under 80°c for the cpu temp running most games on ultra. I love the main monitor. It's small but so smooth and crisp, great refresh/response, and amazing color... I use it for my gameplay and the Samsung for streamlabs and discord. My only wish is that it had an extra displayport option, more USB 3.0 ports, and maybe stronger construction on the hinge which has quite a bit of flex to it. All in all, I would buy it again. I needed something I could take on trips, but also stream and game with...and besides having to use 2 USB hubs to get all my perifs connected, it has met all expectations. 4.5 stars IMO.

i7 8750h is a hot chip. Want it to run cooler? Open Hp Omen's BIOS settings, reduce CPU power to 35watts. If for some reason you bought this laptop for another purpose than gaming, you can keep CPU temps below 70 deg C even after full load (sacrifice performance) by disabling CPU boost. Go to power management, edit advance power options, set maximum cpu state to 98 percent (default 100% will allow boost). Again, this is only for those who want to reduce temp of CPU at the cost of performance. For gamers, you'd have to accept the nature of i7 8750H. In a laptop, it will run hot.
I feel you there. I've had to send in my own HP laptop when I was in college. That said, all laptop brands have issues and fail sometimes, so I wouldn't let that prevent you from buying from HP again.

there is a bios update on every hp omen f.011 is recommended for 2060 version. cause that boost the fan speed which could help in cooling. thats the only solution. its a verygood 2060 laptop cause its power is not stock to a 60w unlike other 2060 laptops like lenovo y740 etc. with the new bios the cpu temps is around 85 to 87 average never peeks to a 90 to 100. undervolting to -.130 v is recommended, helios 300 2019 is undervolting too so no need to worry.
I personally owned the maxed out hp omen 15 from 2018, while I did love the laptop, I decided to sell it and build a PC. The temps were too unmanageable with the laptop
I went with the H P OMEN i7-950 32GB RAM and the star of the show RTX 2070 MAX Q. How good, on DCS MAX graphic settings, not high, MAX settings I'm getting 111-147 FPS. You mentioned it's not premium??? @ those Frames per second it's premium enough. Not for nothing, but that's awesome💖

I got this laptop brand new for a little over 700$. Got a Microsoft discount on top of the pre-existing sale. It's a really nice laptop. My only complaint is that it has trouble connecting to Wifi, my mid 2013 MacBook Air will open a youtube video much faster than the 15t while on wifi. I also have to say that Mcafee sucks balls and its annoying that it was automatically updated onto the computer. Other than that its fast, looks cool, stays low temp. and is an overall good value if you can get it on sale.
What do you mean thicker and heavier. Laptops below 1500 usd have the same normal chassis around 20mm thick and 2.5kg. The thin and light game of laptops are all premium flash ships Razer blade Zephyrus Gs65,75 Triton 500 and more
David Mendez buy the helios 300. Shadow of the tomb raider you get 73 FPS max settings. A few FPS less but other games the Helios is higher. Assassins creed odyssey 52 fps maxed out. Which is insane compared to other GPUs.
i am browsing the hp website and the "new omen 15" does not have Thunderbolt 3 in the 1660ti model :( .Still with an unique M.2 port. The chassis is more elegant though but the hinge seems more unstable

I have an HP Omen, and there’s no home key, just some stupid omen button I don’t want or use. And performance on battery is very ordinary even just using office applications even with performance slider all the way up.

RTX 2060 vs GTX 1070 or 1080 is somewhere around my question. Blender actually have bench marking files you can download, one called BMW. Acer predator helios 300 2019 have 1660ti but it was beating multiple 2060 laptops and even some 2070maxq one's. Because it was under volted out of the box which make it's performance way better than other 1660ti laptops. Any to be honest i hate omen because there cooling sucks
I bought this simply for the 2 games I have now for PC, which is The Sims 4 and GTA 5. But I mod the crap out of both games and my $500 HP 3 year old laptop can no longer take it. It’s my first gaming laptop. I only have the most basic of ideas to keep it in good condition. Basically spray it down with compressed air to keep all the dust bunnies away and a cooling pad to keep it cool. Anyone got any other suggestions?

You can lower PL1 to 45w for lower temp The new Helios 300 1660TI even performs better than some 2060 laptops in games due to the built in Turbo feature which increases GPU TDP for higher clocks
Quick question regarding removing the bloatware. Reinstalling a clean Windows OS sounds easy enough and removes all the bloatware by nature, but what about the proprietary tools like the Command Center to control the lights and performance? Do those not have to be installed separately after a clean install?
After a clean install, you will need to reinstall these programs. Just go to the driver web page of HP and search for your model. There is a software package called: Omen command center.

This is good but it has a lot of cons than the helios 300 plus the build quality of the helios is metal. It is advisable to undervolt the cpu and reapply the thermal paste.

same with my Alienware M15 these thin laptops do not need these high end heat monster CPU's and GPU's.

I should probably mention the maxed-out version comes with an RTX 2070 and an i7-9750h
Don't need desk fan. Just some undervolt and wattage limit on CPU.

I got the newer "Costco edition" of this laptop a few months ago... the x2s-15, has a secondary touch enabled screen, i7 9750, 16g rtx-2070 max-q, 24g ram, terabyte hdd, 256g ssd, 240hz main monitor, and it's factory setup with thermal grizzly liquid metal thermal compound on the cpu.
My perifs are a Samsung 27" smart tv, HyperX Alloy mech wired keyboard w/ cherry mx-blues (I like clickey), Logitech g502 wired mouse, Logitech c-920 pro camera, cheap USB mic, avermedia lgp2+ cap card for my ps4, etc.
So far I love it and I have no regrets. I stream/game 6-8 hours every day and 12-16 hours on the weekends. I stay under 80°c for the cpu temp running most games on ultra. I love the main monitor. It's small but so smooth and crisp, great refresh/response, and amazing color... I use it for my gameplay and the Samsung for streamlabs and discord.
My only wish is that it had an extra displayport option, more USB 3.0 ports, and maybe stronger construction on the hinge which has quite a bit of flex to it.
All in all, I would buy it again. I needed something I could take on trips, but also stream and game with...and besides having to use 2 USB hubs to get all my perifs connected, it has met all expectations. 4.5 stars IMO.

i7 8750h is a hot chip. Want it to run cooler? Open Hp Omen's BIOS settings, reduce CPU power to 35watts. If for some reason you bought this laptop for another purpose than gaming, you can keep CPU temps below 70 deg C even after full load (sacrifice performance) by disabling CPU boost. Go to power management, edit advance power options, set maximum cpu state to 98 percent (default 100% will allow boost). Again, this is only for those who want to reduce temp of CPU at the cost of performance. For gamers, you'd have to accept the nature of i7 8750H. In a laptop, it will run hot.

I feel you there. I've had to send in my own HP laptop when I was in college. That said, all laptop brands have issues and fail sometimes, so I wouldn't let that prevent you from buying from HP again.

there is a bios update on every hp omen f.011 is recommended for 2060 version. cause that boost the fan speed which could help in cooling. thats the only solution. its a verygood 2060 laptop cause its power is not stock to a 60w unlike other 2060 laptops like lenovo y740 etc. with the new bios the cpu temps is around 85 to 87 average never peeks to a 90 to 100. undervolting to -.130 v is recommended, helios 300 2019 is undervolting too so no need to worry.
I personally owned the maxed out hp omen 15 from 2018, while I did love the laptop, I decided to sell it and build a PC. The temps were too unmanageable with the laptop
Similar issues with a 2017 Omen, but after a repaste, temps stayed under 85.

I went with the H P OMEN i7-950 32GB RAM and the star of the show RTX 2070 MAX Q. How good, on DCS MAX graphic settings, not high, MAX settings I'm getting 111-147 FPS. You mentioned it's not premium??? @ those Frames per second it's premium enough. Not for nothing, but that's awesome💖

I got this laptop brand new for a little over 700$. Got a Microsoft discount on top of the pre-existing sale. It's a really nice laptop. My only complaint is that it has trouble connecting to Wifi, my mid 2013 MacBook Air will open a youtube video much faster than the 15t while on wifi. I also have to say that Mcafee sucks balls and its annoying that it was automatically updated onto the computer. Other than that its fast, looks cool, stays low temp. and is an overall good value if you can get it on sale.

David Mendez buy the helios 300. Shadow of the tomb raider you get 73 FPS max settings. A few FPS less but other games the Helios is higher. Assassins creed odyssey 52 fps maxed out. Which is insane compared to other GPUs.

i am browsing the hp website and the "new omen 15" does not have Thunderbolt 3 in the 1660ti model :( .Still with an unique M.2 port. The chassis is more elegant though but the hinge seems more unstable

First gaming pc I ever bought it has been so far a good laptop plays all my games fast and on high settings no lags nothing the only problem I had with mine was the temps would hit 80s or even 90s degrees but I under voltaged it and know the temps are like 60 or 70s alot better then it was

RTX 2060 vs GTX 1070 or 1080 is somewhere around my question. Blender actually have bench marking files you can download, one called BMW. Acer predator helios 300 2019 have 1660ti but it was beating multiple 2060 laptops and even some 2070maxq one's. Because it was under volted out of the box which make it's performance way better than other 1660ti laptops. Any to be honest i hate omen because there cooling sucks

I bought this simply for the 2 games I have now for PC, which is The Sims 4 and GTA 5. But I mod the crap out of both games and my $500 HP 3 year old laptop can no longer take it. It’s my first gaming laptop. I only have the most basic of ideas to keep it in good condition. Basically spray it down with compressed air to keep all the dust bunnies away and a cooling pad to keep it cool. Anyone got any other suggestions?

The new Helios 300 1660TI even performs better than some 2060 laptops in games due to the built in Turbo feature which increases GPU TDP for higher clocks
The undervolt on the CPU also has something to do with the Helios 300's performance. The 1% lows on that laptop are pretty high

Quick question regarding removing the bloatware.
Reinstalling a clean Windows OS sounds easy enough and removes all the bloatware by nature, but what about the proprietary tools like the Command Center to control the lights and performance? Do those not have to be installed separately after a clean install?
After a clean install, you will need to reinstall these programs. Just go to the driver web page of HP and search for your model. There is a software package called: Omen command center.
Can you plus this into a monitor, close it and just game on the monitor? Like use the lap top as a tower?

This is good but it has a lot of cons than the helios 300 plus the build quality of the helios is metal. It is advisable to undervolt the cpu and reapply the thermal paste.

Because i can get this from a known store in our country but if i get the Predator Helios i will have to get it from amazon shipped internationally to our country and i don’t know how the warranty works, i don’t think that it has a warranty.. the acer predator i cant find it in the store that i talked about, but its available in carrefour and i don’t really like dealing with carrefour, cuz they doubled the price of a regular Predator so i feel like they’re scamming us.
its me if the product is truly genuine they will give you factory/manufacturer's warranty, so you can claim it at its service center near to your location. Definitely the price will rising if the product enter you country due to taxes and shipping. Cheers!
