- My name is Ashraf Hendricks. I’m a photojournalist in Cape Town.
A few years ago homeless people started moving on to a plot of land in Green Point, a wealthy suburb in Cape Town, South Africa.
On Monday 19 February 2024, the sheriff of the High Court executed an eviction order against the homeless people.

I received a tip-off that they would be evicted on Thursday.
In this video, I placed an action camera (GoPro) on top of my camera. All the sound was recorded onto the GoPro, including the clicking of my camera. Over an hour of footage was recorded, but it has been shortened to under five minutes.
Yes right ✅. There is problem crime and drugs.
For God's sake why do they have to bloody mess like this that's why the whole country looks like a squatter camp it's a darn disgrace

If these people behaved one could possibly tolerate them, but they do everything a normal society abhors. If they want to distance themselves from a normal law-abiding society, they must do it elsewhere. Those supporting this squatting should open their homes to them.

Please build affordable House's for South Africa elderly Citizen... those that live on the streets provide a camp for them, let them pay a small fee and keep the place in order.

So nice to talk when you don't know people's struggles. When you had to go to shool without food. When you had to bath without soap with cold water. When cagrew up in a house hold where everyone is drunk. When you come back from shool no food. No electricity. Where they are being molested by relatives 😢. Have you ever been held at knifepoint just by walking threw a park ,no these people rob normal citizens,recreational areas like parks are unsafe to walk because they are terrorizing the local community and throw their trash where ever they want i was homeless myself me and my family cape town has alot of homeless shelters they choose to live there ,the goverment gave them options they are arrogant im glad that the goverment is doing something about them
