When I was young in the ’60’s in the summer I would spend a week at my grandparents and go to work with my grandfather. He was a dozer operator building roads and strip mining in Mississippi. What you can a motor grader we called a road grader. I can see how it works both ways. The very early graders were pulled by horses and later by a tractor. They finally put the motor on the grader. In my case my grandparents lived on a gravel road and the country would come around periodically and grade the potholes and make it smooth again, hence a road grader. I love your videos and all the equipment that you own and have mastered. Keep the videos coming! Thanks.

When I finished school in 1965 I went to work building roads. The old timers called a grader a motor patrol.

My father in law and ex-husband both used to operate those. Theres a 1930’s motor grader in front of the VDOT area headquarters in Bedford County VA. It’s really cool. It would have been pulled by a tractor. And the term they used for cleaning the edges was called pulling shoulders.

I thought for sure the left corner of the arena looked like it was on a slant so I put the video on pause, got out my laser elevation level and then pointed it the corner, turns out the corner was fine.... It's the broken caster on the back of my chair that was throwing me off.

That is 99.9% the operator. I knew of one grader operator that the inspectors would spot check. But they said “if said it is good” you knew if it was within a fraction of an inch everywhere
