    The dub version with the drum and base is brilliant.
    k Tubby really was the king and creator of dub.

    THE original cut is Cuss Cuss by Lloyd Robinson, produced by Harry Johnson. there has been countless versions. Check out Carl Bryan's Soul Scorcher or Danny Dread's Dryland Tourist for example. The original sound was created at Harry J's studios and not Coxone Dodd's Studio One.

      +Charlie Dingle Excellent! Enjoy the tune Charlie. To be honest, I'd have been stuffed with some of the tunes that I've got if it wasn't for record labels the likes of Trojan!

      To think Horace took the name 'Andy' as tribute to Bob Andy ..& Patrick Andy & others took 'Andy' as tribute to Horace...

    Gives me the same rush as when Fla-men-co is packing heat. I only got as far as Tubby's Dread& Eastwood Dub for years but this version is astounding. Hell yeah.{ Now i'll take into the basement, fill the Vaporizer ,play it to the psychedelic flight in 2001:A Space Odessy. Oh yeah, man.oh yeah.} This is a lost sound i used to hear on rainy days in 1970 & 80s Brixton market.The nostalgic ache is almost physically painful so i'll be playing it over and over like a bleedin' mantra.I&I get Eiree.

    Thanks for upload - love the way the bass 'overloads' the desk an speakers on the version..but it's not mixed by Tubby is it???..as I think Harry J (producer of this rhythm) did his own versions, sometimes with S.Morris ...unless it was an early dub used on king tubbys 'hometown hi-fi sound system ' ??

    • @curablefury
      @curablefury Před 4 lety +2

      Best I can tell this version dates from 1980, Roots Radics are the band, mixed at Harry J's probably by Sylvan Morris. The dub as far as I can tell is Tubby's work but his fingerprint is very light on the track... it was already a masterpiece.

    • @andchat6241
      @andchat6241 Před 4 lety +2

      @@curablefury ...I'm not sure, as the Roots Radics cut(s)- now on 'Dangerous Dub' & 'Original King Key dub' are much slower- I have one of those takes with Horace Andy on 7" with "roots radics & Scully' named on the version side with ' mixed by Phillip Smart at his hcf studio' (NY)
      I think the backing track here is the faster 1968 Lloyd Robinson original...then mixed again for the version...whatever , there's no shortage of cuts to this rhythm & this is one of best.

    • @curablefury
      @curablefury Před 4 lety

      @@andchat6241 color me embarrassed, on listening to the 1968 version it's obvious you're exactly right.

    • @curablefury
      @curablefury Před 4 lety

      the vocal version is definitely a mixed version of the '68 tho, listen to echos around 2 minute mark. the dub appears on 1981 "King at the control" attributed to tubbys ... who knows what the full story is!!!

    • @andchat6241
      @andchat6241 Před 4 lety

      @@curablefury ..yes JA music is a seemingly endless supply of mystery not helped by 'Producer', 'engineer' & 'artist ' often overlapping & a lot of tracks mixed by Jammy, Pat Kelly, Professor, scientist etc being credited to King Tubby(s)
      I think Lloyd Robinsons 'Studio One' cut of Cuss Cuss is as good as the furious '68 original'...
