It makes sense. House values the truth and solving the puzzle over everything else. Adult patients will lie and withhold information to protect their pride or hide from an ugly truth. Younger patients often don't know any better, or are being lied to or are being forced to lie because of their parents. And the parents often act very emotionally and make things worse for their children. House takes pity on the kids, and in some cases, empathizes because of the abuse he faced from his own father.

I love House’s small, obviously kind, moments; it reminds you that he does actually care & that he is mostly harsh to others, because life has been so harsh to him.
Most of the time he just wants others to understand something, before life forces them to understand; the same way life forced him to understand.
I believe he thinks that he won’t be as harsh as life & that he can also teach the respective person in a lot less time.
House may not want to care about anyone but himself, & he does obviously put himself first most of the time; but deep down he does truly care about other people, his colleagues, & yes- even his patients.
He’s like everyone’s grumpy dad, that takes away their ailments, & doesn’t give them any; unless it’s part of the process & isn’t an STD.

That would be great, but not really realistic; while federally there is no statute of limitations on you know what against a child, the problem is whether or not you can get the actual *evidence* to prove the case after so much time has passed.
For example, my biomother did you know what to me when I was younger; this lead to a bad case of depression when I got into high school and in my senior year, I ended up revealing what happened to a school councilor (he suspected that the passing of my adoptive mother wasn't the only cause of my severe depression), sadly by then she had fled the state - this was back in 2003 and into 2004 and since then I have been trying to find her so she can face punishment but sadly I doubt it'll ever happen. As I said, they need evidence, and the problem is that our memories become muddled as time passes. Only reason I can remember the events well enough is because apparently when I was a kid I used to write down the things she did to me (they are all in my families safe, waiting)

I know in this day in age of studies, anecdotal experiences, etc. everyone likes to throw out a bit of “expert” opinion on how something should be handled. But for a lot of comments saying the mother should tell him, y’all do not truly understand trauma. Hearing about trauma, reading about trauma, isn’t the same as having the lived experience as the person who was told. I wish I didn’t know. The victims I have talked to, wish we didn’t know. We don’t understand the extent of repressed memories or your body keeping the score for trauma you do not remember. Maybe there is a consequence in ignorance being bliss, but that consequence could be shorter term than telling them. With or without knowing, I’m traumatized, but the mental trauma I’m constantly having to overcome to even begin addressing the physical trauma is nothing compared to only having a peaceful mind who can believe this is a separate illness, let’s treat it, and continue to move on happily. Not saying this would work for everyone, but I want to warn against the assumption telling them is always the right thing to do.

*_they 100% should've told that kid what happened._*
no child escapes abuse unscathed IRL. he would have deep psychological scars that need to be addressed, and not knowing why he feels that way would cause even more problems.
in fact, the trauma is already present.
forgetting/blocking out an experience like that is actually sign of severe trauma, but the body keeps the score.
so yeah, just in case anyone out their finds themselves in a situation like this (which i surely hope you don't) it's best to put your child in therapy anyways.

While the bio dad is a monster no question about that. Mom is also a villian. She claims she was doing it to protect him. But she wasn't. Her son would have died if the step dad hadn't called the bio dad. The doctors needed the info they couldn't get otherslwise. But she would rather keep pretending he's dead then do what ever it takes to save her child.
Also his trama from what his dad did isn't gone. The whole episode it is quite cleqr he may not remember it because his mind repressed the memories but they are srill there. Just hiding out of sight in the shadows pulling on strings and still affecting him. And she ignored it cause it was more convient for her.

I feel like people dont really understand what a villain is. In a story sense, the father is the villain as you said he’s the monster. The mother is a human. She’s more gray if anything. If your gonna pin it on the mom- she was just dumb if anything.
She saw that her son idolized their father to an extreme degree. You did not see the whole episode, the son literally became a street clown because he thought dad walked out on him. If she admits it, then dad gets arrested and her son lives with the fact he was touched by someone he idolized.
The saying of the show is “everybody lies” not “everybody lies without a reason.”

Like House said, the heart said to tell him the truth while your brain telling you he is better off without knowing. Both the mom and doctors just follows their brain (and maybe they can wait at the right time to tell him when he is not lying on the bed sick).
