I was playing this one night on KPFK-FM in Los Angeles and Charlie called me, he wanted to know who was playing music from his Liberation Music Orchestra album. It was the start of my friendship with this wonderful musician. I recorded him on video a few times after this. Great loss when he passed in 2014. La lucha continua, Charlie.

This album goes back to my late adolescence. I was hip to Ornette and thus Charlie and Don Cherry. Then I found this and started digging Carla Bley and all the others on this rockin' record.
